I'm just starting my first character on this server (and first vanilla character since retail). I want to pay more attention to professions than I used to, so I'm trying to decide what direction to go.

I know skinning/LW is probably the easiest to level as a rogue, but I doubt it makes any money.

It seems like herb/alch is the way to make money... but it also seems like there's a serious herb shortage which would make leveling it hell until I get a mount at least

Any suggestions for first character professions that I can be doing while leveling? Should I just stick to skin/LW for now, and grab herb/alch once I'm 40-60? Are mining, enchanting, tailoring worth considering for any reason (as a rogue)? Was hoping through the use of professions while leveling I could ease some of the need for farming, and have gold for a mount by time I hit 40.

	Thanks!

As the title says, I was wondering what BoP items does each profession offers in way that makes them only available to you if you have that specific profession. I've looked around everywhere for an answer but didn't find any topic in any forums providing informations about this.

	Thanks for answering !

	Hi everyone,

I just created my first character on Elysium recently, and chose to play as a rogue.

I am very PvP-oriented, so I thought Engineering would be a good pick for that aspect. However, since this is my first char on the server, I figured I should probably pick professions that generate more revenue. Any advice?

I notice new char zones are full, always more than 50 people within +/-2 levels of me on /who. If we assume?? 20% will have mining and maybe one of the dependent professions (eng. or bs), and given my own experience finding nodes (mining currently in high 20s now at level 12, and I try !), it seems unlikely that mining node spawn rate even comes close to implied demand from new characters just to level their professions around parity with character level. it has pretty direct carry-on effects - prevents leveling the related crafting profession as well, which then impacts some gear options for some classes.

it certainly seems probable that if I do not stop trying to level the character up and instead take corrective action (e.g. spend potentially a lot of time searching for ore in the mines in elewyn, or other plan B), I will quickly get into a 20-29ish zone where I can NOT mine anything due to low mining level.

Does this persist in higher-level zones? Is it an issue with herbalism too?

hello guys i am playing on darrowshire, pve realm, i got a lock around 40 and i am leveling tailoring. i am thinking that i'd use a gathering proffesion too for profit, either herbalism or mining. what is more profitable? what is easier/harder - worth more to have? is one of 'em going to help me farm mats for the epic mount?

i am also going to level a mage as an alt and i was thinking which profs i'd pick. will i need tailoring on the mage, like i am going to craft a bop bis item at 60 or use 300 tailoring on bloodvine set or something like that or i can just use my lock's tailoring to gear my mage? if it's tailoring is not going to be useful, is alchemy any useful / profitable or i'd just go for two gathering proffesions?

I know typically enchanting is paired with tailoring, but I don't have a use (to my knowledge) for being a tailor as a feral druid (outside of DE'ing the greens I would make from it).

As such I was wondering what profession might best be a 1 trick wonder for making gold alongside enchanting.

EDIT: Guess it's worth mentioning that I know Enchanting is a huge gold sink up front and a pain in the ass to level. But for me it was a core part of my vanilla experience. So much of my time spent on solo play was rep grinding to get enchanting recipes or straight up farming low drop rate recipes.

	Any feedback is appreciated.

	Thanks,

	Hi!

So as a new lvl 60 player with only 1 max level character, I have been wondering if it's worth switching my current proffessions (Tailoring(300)/Enchanting(225)) for Herbalism and Alchemy. The main reason I am contemplating the switch is to make gold. Everywhere I look everyone claims that the best way to earn gold is with Herb/Alch or just plain gathering proffessions, also I heard that leveling Enchanting is pretty much a gold sink. Im sure that I could probably make gold with my current proffessions aswell, but the main problem I see is that I currently have no good recepies. By my thinking the fastest way I could start getting a decent income is by buying Bijous to get my rep up to friendly and then craft Bloodvine boots. However this would need around 60g to get the reputation alone and after that I would need a decent amount of gold to make the gear, so the startup fee just seems a bit hefty for a fresh 60.

Selling Mooncloth bags is prettymuch out of the question since you can buy 3 Travelers backpacks for the price of 1 Mooncloth bag.

So it's worth selling all the enchanting mats that I currently have and then switching my professions?

If i'm wrong about anything of the above feel free to correct me, all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What I mean by that is the Joanas World vanilla leveling guide is pretty standard as far as your go to leveling guide. Its widely respected/accurate (as far as I can tell).

Is there anything similar in regards to specific crafting guides? Step by step for those that are new?

Hey guys!

I am just wanting to see people's opinions on what the 2 most appropriate Professions for a Mage would be?

I am leaning towards choosing Enchanting and Tailoring as I know both of them go together quite well. The only consideration I am making is whether I should drop one of those for a gathering Profession?

Finally, I will be starting a completely fresh LVL 1, most likely on the Fresh PvP realm.

Any and all opinions, along with rationale behind the opinion, are welcome!

Cheers, guys!

What is a profession?

A profession is a set of skills a player can learn by visiting a profession trainer. Said skills are meant to enchane the player's gameplay by providing him with various tools to better his World of Warcraft experience (i.e: an alchemist may make potions, which heal, restore mana or otherwise empower allies). In Vanilla WoW, there are 9 primary professions (out of which you can have two at a time) and 3 secondary professions (you can learn all of them). With that being said, it is also worth noting that professions are the player's main means of getting income, in the form of gold, by selling services (i.e: A player with the Enchanting profession can enchant other people's weapons) or items (i.e: A blacksmith can sell the crafted armour and an alchemist can sell potions). This is primarily done in chat channels, for example[5.examplechannel] and Valkyrie's auction houses (In Stormwind, Orgrimmar or the Goblin Cities).

Training and bettering a profession

In order to train a profession, you must visit a profession trainer. Here is a list of the game's profession trainers.

In the above picture, you can see what should display once talking to a profession trainer. If you have not trained before, simply purchase the "Apprentice <Profession name goes here>" package, for nine copper. In order to level up your profession, you simply open your profession tab.

Now, you simply train yourself what you'd like (based on your skill level, of course), and craft it to level up until you can craft the next item. You can either use those items, sell them, or throw them. Once being done with a profession level (for example, apprentice is done at profession level 75), visit an appropriate trainer to train the next level. *Remember that you might need materials, or tools (i.e: Blacksmithing hammer and an anvil for a blacksmith / enchanting rod for an enchanter) in order to craft items.
