And what skill do I need to mine thorium?

i am an dwarf amorsmith right now and would like to switch to weaponsmith. In Ironforge there are the two queststarter NPCS and Blacksmith-Specialties-Trainers, that train some basic recipes for each specialty.
If you have done one of the questchains to become a specialtiesed smith, there is a conversation option unter the "Train Me!" option, that says: "I wish to unlearn the art of Armorsmithing", after that there is the verification question with same text "I wish to unlearn my blacksmith specialty". When i click it, there is an red error text, like when you cast a spell on cool down, with the following text: "You can't do that right now".
Well, after asking in world chat, how i am able to change specialties, a few people said, that you have to unlearn the whole blacksmithing skill, what in my opinion, is in the view of the talking-option of the trainer, totaly unnessesary. My question to the forum is: Its just a bug or didnt they implemented the real function in vanilla? Because in the WoW-Wiki, they basicly discribe, what i accualy want. The wiki page also includes TBC related content, so i dont know if they seriously have not implemented that yet and there is just this talking option without any function. But then why is there this talking option? I dont want to level my whole blacksmithing just for the specialization, when obviously there is an option in the game, that offers me what i accualy want.

I've noticed that ooze covered mithril veins in shimmering flats cannot be looted. I get the point for mining (my char is around skill 200/210) but no loot is displayed. 

Is this a known issue or is it just me? :)

I've read that at some point arcane crystals were added to small veins.. can anyone confirm if small veins have a chance to roll arcane crystals in the current iteration of elysium? I am on the Darrowshire server also if that matters.

I'm at lvl 29 with 125 mining. I'm looking to get a lot of materials (Iron Ore + Heavy stone) whilst levelling. 

Initially, due to feedback I thought of going to wetlands/hillsbrad to quest. However, I see this will not help me obtain mining skill/materials. Therefore, what would be the recommended place to go questing with a good chance of finding iron nodes simultaneously?

I know arathi is an option, but I hear the questing part sucks there.. and it's super populated (I'm ally)

Edit: While I'm at it - any tips on what's the most efficient way to farm volumes of iron + heavy stone?

Anyone noticing this? I am understanding and accepting of the drop rate, I am just pointing out what I have encountered. 

ps. I play on the Elysium server.

I'm a miner since forever on my warlock and I just wondered, talking with a friend, what is the purpose of the glove enchant. Does it help mining higher level nodes when you're not 300 yet ? Does it increase the drops from the veins ? I looked on internet and couldn't find a proper answer.

I hope someone here can answer this question :)

This is not what I remember from classic. I collected 9 nodes from the eastern side of un'goro crater. 30 minutes later, (I've been here the whole time) no respawns.

I also timed the mithril spot in Shimmering Flats. Respawn was exactly 30 minutes.  In badlands, there's plenty of nodes.  There's almost nothing available in Silithus, Un'goro, and Burning Steppes.  It's not over-farmed, there's nobody here.

Any idea where to go?

like in title maybe we can share knowledge about best places to get coopper/ tin/ silver nodes.     Tin ore great  place is mine in Westfall jangolode mine

I struggled through iron by just mining it in the field and I thought my struggles were over when Gold was working. Then I got to 175 mining and gathered some mithril ore. I was very disappointed to see that smelting mithril bars was gray immediately. I know that Blizzard made some adjustments to mining levels to make it easier. I'm not asking for that. But I believe the smelting levels should at least be green until you gain access to mine the next metal. 

Just wanted to check and confirm that the faction/quest specific recipes stand as-is?  Didn't know if any changes had been made here.

Personal items of interest: the Heavy Copper Longsword and the Ironforge Breastplate.  Figured I would check before I went through the process of creating an Alliance-side character and leveling up their Blacksmithing to the point where they can get the quests and recipes.
