PVP Queue System

Recommended Posts

Will there be precautions implemented vs the pug stompers? It would be the easiest to implement them post launch. If there are I would like to know what they are; A few suggestions though: Deserter on drop queue if you are queued as group; hide bg id/name when it pops similar to retail when queued at random bg. Please don't make the same mistakes as all of the other private servers out there and let pvp die just because of the 1% people that premade.

Sorry to say this, but this is one of the downsides you have to bear with due to how the vanilla PvP grind works. The rush to R14 requires you to premade constantly and always go for easy honor and boring games over other premades or fun fights. Queue dodging, wintrading etc, it is all part of it.

If you wish for a change to the issue of facing premades who drops queues vs other premades, then you need to change the entire PvP system.

The only thing that can be done is to add numbers for the BGs, but even that will not always save you.

So why not change the bad sides to a better system?

Make it so we don't have to grind 12 hours a day for R14 and make more of a penalty for losing games, higher penalty rates depending on the amount of games you lose in succession.

This would promote the most skilled players to maintain a higher rank even if they only had two hours to play each day due to real life commitments such as work or family.

If you're bad, you get nowhere but it gives you the motivation to learn and strive to be a better PvPer in order to gain the higher rank and the respect that goes with it.

B-ard did just that - and look where that got them.

Gear is never about skill these days. PvE is easy and PvP is easy. The difficulty in obtaining the R14 comes in form of being able to afford playing 16+ h/day. If you change that to say,  require a rating like arenas, then people will just ditch PvP in favor for the easy PvE gear (which in time will become even stronger), resulting in longer PvP queues and even more premades in order to achieve no penalty, because all of a sudden there are fewer solo queuers. Let's not forget that this version of the game is very old and most people know how to play the game, I suspect that if you bring in some kind of rating system, it will just end with the PvP gear becoming even more common, thus removing its shine.

As for the last line. There is nothing that makes you being automatically respected due to a higher rank or rating, how that is observed is strictly personal. Some people will respect you, others won't care and some will even think the rank makes you a weaker player, it is in the eye of the beholder.

Its sad because a lot of us who are much better than others won't get R14 due to not playing for 12+ hours per day.

This is why Blizzard scrapped the vanilla ranking system, it favoured ruining your life just for a game title. The title should be based on how good someone is, not how much of a life they don't have.

You don't have to make it so that the PVP gear is common, make a new system that doesn't involve an arena rating (and I say this as a 2000 - 2100 in wotlk to cata).

Also, the system was horribly done, considering people back then who got T3 Naxx would just run around one to two shotting every PvPer who didn't Naxx.

You could be amazing and get to rank 10 just to get a pair of blue shoulders which was worse than molten core gear.

Honestly, PVP will be more alive with either more ways to earn higher level rewards, a better ranking system or less of a grind and more about skill.

Get your BWL + AQ40 gear and go stomp them, and when you walk up on em' with Naxx gear, they will QQ because their R14 gear isn't as good.

MC: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros

AQ: Dark Edge of Insanity

Naxx: Might of Menethil

Naxx: Claymore of Unholy Might

BWL: Ashkandi, Greatsword of Brotherhood - slightly lower top end damage than R14.

Naxx: Corrupted Ashbringer

R13/14 in general is slightly better than best stuff in BWL, slightly worse than best stuff in AQ.

Add complains about class disbalance too

Oh, maybe you want to add arena here? To get what you "deserve", because you "deserve R14 gear more than others" ?

+Let's put Resilience on PvP Gear, so Naxx Grinders won't one-shot you?

This is effectively saying lets change the game to suite the casual side of wow ,Didn't blizzard already try this and fail horribly ?

The whole attractive point of vanilla wow is that you had to spend time on the game not just come in and be done with it , unfortunately this means if your schedule doesn't allow you to pvp for 16+ hours you will have to do go down another route.

Changing the game simply because it doesn't suite the casual player has damaged the wow community to no end why would you try to introduce this again into vanilla ?

its easier to dodge premade vs premade on privat server and it ruins the game

after legrons shitpost it is good to see someone who actually thinks before posting.

if I understand right then OP wants to hand out deserteur for players in a group who drop the Q when it has already popped. I second this.

it hinders dodging, it hinders force popping. sounds good to me. only downside is that you sometimes can't leave Q anymore to reQ (like if you get an additional party member or so)

it was just an example from the top of my head on what issues OPs system may cause. not everyone grouping in PvP is a ranker.

How much do you have to play to get r10/r11? And is there gear at r10/r11 or something? Because I see people who just want that to be their goal, since they know they wont be r14.

blue gear at r10, some are bis until aq/deep naxx for some classes with 2 part setbonus.

free epic mount at r11, you get to buy black epic mounts that work with L40 riding.

soooo free epic mount and somewhat gear, if you hate goldfarm for idjet.. :=)

Thank you, how much do you have to actually play to reach these ranks? I don't really understand the ranking system. I guess it depends on how many other people are playing too or something?
