Factions Imbalance

Recommended Posts

we are currently experiencing a growing faction imbalance (alliance ~46%, horde ~54%) on all server but the pve server. especially on the 2 new realms. https://elysium-project.org/status

horde tends to pvp more, thus its even worse than it seems for the pvp realms.

this has to be addressed and fixed rather soon than later. how?

This doesn't need to be addressed at all. This is how it was in Vanilla, and the idea of Horde having PvP-oriented racials while Alliance have more PvE-oriented ones is completely intentional.

More to the point, "WoW-Like" servers don't generally make a habit of implementing balance changes, so coming here and demanding them the way you would with a normal game is completely pointless. This isn't Hearthstone, League of Legends, Call of Duty, etc. It's a recreation of a game at a particular stage in its life--that means all the "broken" stuff and all the gimp stuff is intact.

how is 54/46 an imbalance that "needs addressing"? it is barely an imbalance.

This kind of split is really common across many private servers, and even retail. Splits as steep as 60/40 were always considered acceptable as well.

Are you actually saying 8% is nothing? On a 10k pop, that's rougly 100 horde more than alliance per zones (not late level zones yet, but low pvp zones)

It is nothing. No need to get your knickers in a twist.

lmao what is wrong with you.

Your "100 more players per zone" literally what does that mean? Of the 10K online... how many are afk? How many are in a city? How many are leveling characters in friendly non pvp areas?

Please dont worry about faction imbalance.Their may seem more horde than ally online however their are more horde characters than ally characters which probably means many people on ally are running more than 1 character online.

Why is everyone talking about PVP and PVE racials? People roll undead characters because they look cool+lot of vanilla wow videos have undeads in them.

Humans have "Perception" skill, which is nice, Dwarfs have stoneform and some racial/class bonus spells+frost resistance, Night Elfs have shadowmeld which is a PVP spell, Gnomes have engineering+escape artist, both are for PVP.

And what does Horde have apart from War Stomp, Hardiness, Will of Forsaken and Berserking? 3 of 4 alliance characters have resistances, while only two on horde side. Hardiness is OP against rogues and WoF against shadow priests but that's about as OP as they get. Perception sees any rogue after they Vanish and dwarves remove everything rogue does to them.

As long as the imbalance doesn't get out of control, I've found it leads to a better play experience for the side with fewer people.

You'll see more people banding together to fight the larger numbers. You'll see tighter guilds that stick up for one another. You'll see lower queue times in BGs. People will be more likely to respond to gankers because they hate them as much as you do.

It's a different style for both sides. I've played on both factions on both PvE and PvP servers over the years, and there are pros and cons to both sides. It's almost never 50/50 on a PvP server though. Look at retail. Some servers are pretty even, but a TON are so one sided it's laughable. Like 70% or more on one faction.

nothing to be done about op hord racials for pvp just accept it

Alliance actually have more pvp racials. What's actually happenning is that horde does PvP more, racials doesn't have much to do with that.

Chicken vs egg much.  Horde does more PvP because the horde side has something that brings the PvP minded players.  Racials and cosmetics, the only difference, you pick the reason.
