I vote for the name 'Everyst'.

Go Fund Me Link:https://www.gofundme.com/everyst-legacy So as many of you know, Everyst has been shut down by 'B'. We have a solution to this problem, but we need your help. So long as we are tied to the public internet, we remain subject to the whims of big business. So that is why we have come up with a solution. We have hired a consultant from SpaceX to help us pick parts and design a satellite that is oriented towards hosting Everyst. With this, no one will be able to shut us down (Please view the Go Fund Me link at the top or bottom of this post for more information). This is a big step for us as a community, and we are proud to be the first to come up with and execute this idea. However, we can only do it with your help. IT IS TIME WE TAKE THE FUTURE INTO OUR OWN HANDS. https://www.gofundme.com/everyst-legacy

Everyst — Legacy in the new Frontier. A final solution to servers being shut down.
Suzerain replied to Suzerain's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
We have done lots of research, and thus far have not seen any evidence of reptilian frap-ray EMPs. At this moment we do not consider it to be a risk. Should something of this nature arise, we aren't worried, though. That is something the government will be able to handle, we are sure. Thank you for showing an interest and asking important questions none the less. -
My dearest friends, it has been an excellent few months. Working on this project has been one of the highlights of my life. However, it is time that my story ends here. To understand my decision, you must know a bit about my life. 8 years ago, I contracted an unknown, incurable eye disease. Every day of my life is filled with physical pain to the point that I cannot leave my home without being rendered unable to open my eyes. While there are very very few things left that I can physically do on the computer, working on this project was one of them. However, you must understand that due to the circumstances of my life, I do suffer quite a bit from depression. When Elysium was still small, there was far less to worry about. I spent most of my time interacting with players and guilds, acting as an intermediary for the players and staff. After all, this is what I enjoyed the most. It is how I met many of the players that I today call my friends. However, as we merged, it became apparent I would have to take on a more serious position within the core team and helping to steer the ship through the storm. This was not my original intention with joining the project. I never had aspirations of doing more than giving the players a positive environment where their voices could be heard. As many of you know, our active population increased by over 40x, and no longer could I hear the individuals. In fact, most of the communication I began to receive from the community at this point was anger, insults, and hatred. I quickly began to realize that this was no longer a position I was interested in holding. However, in the end, I continued on. I knew it would be a hard journey to steer that ship into port, and I could not leave my teammates to do so alone. Ultimately though, I have not come out unscathed. The pressures to satisfy such a large community, to perform my tasks, to cover every angle of this project as to not make a mistake... all while the only reward I am given is a huge sacrifice of time, money, hatred, ingratitude, and the multitude of daggers in the dark from every direction... it has taken it's toll on me. Combined with the depression I have to fight due to my confinement, I find myself dealing with more than I can bare. For that, I am sorry. I am sorry that I am not able to continue on, and provide you with this service. For my weakness, I hope you all will forgive me. I also hope you will take my words to heart. All that the Elysium Team does, they do for you. There is no profit for them. You can treat them with respect, and they will do their job with pride. You can harass their every move, and they will take every step forward with a feeling of dread. The choice is yours whether or not they will enjoy the service they provide for you. Despite the grim circumstances, I will always remember my time here with you all for as long as I live. As I said, I have made many friends, both within the staff and amongst the players. While I will no longer be using my reddit or forum accounts, I will maintain my discord account (Suzerain#2804), so don't be a stranger. I plan on playing on one of the upcoming TBC servers, so perhaps we will meet some time in the Outlands. I consider my memories, my friends, and this goodbye to be my sole reward for the time I have dedicated, and it is more than I deserve. Farewell, Suzerain Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ElysiumProject/comments/5pk5le/suzerains_resignation/

Dear Community, Let us discuss what has caused this downtime in complete disclosure. Two days ago a player on our server received a gift of an unusually large amount of gold. We were instantly made aware of this, began our investigation and quickly discovered that the gold was not genuine. Last night, we found an issue with the hardware and decided shut down for unscheduled maintenance. A little while after, our investigation on the gold showed us that an individual gained access to an account with modification privileges on the Anathema character database. As a result, we decided to immediately shut down all of our services to evaluate the damages, their extent and if this individual had more access. Our System Admin and devs have isolating the breach, revamped our security, and reverted alterations. There was a lot of data to sift through and Anathema PvP is still under some investigation. Preferring to remain safer than sorry, we have kept the servers down until this afternoon to ensure beyond a shadow of a doubt that all is well. Anathema will return as soon as we are comfortable. Before anyone starts to panic: We have secured the breach. Your data is safe (use the .account password command in-game to change your password, just in case), and any damage done has been discovered and reverted with no need for a rollback. We have made contact with the individuals whom gained access, and they did not have the intention of harming us. Rather, they were more interested in testing our security measures. In fact, they have agreed to help us to find any remaining security breaches. As a result, we welcome Auya to the Elysium team who is tasked with making sure we are never in this position, ever again! All in all, it has been a crazy 24 hours, but everything seems to be in hand. We will take further steps to secure our system as best as possible. While we very much doubt there will be any further issues from this event, we will let you know immediately if any should arise. The community is our primary concern, and we will not let pride prevent us from telling you the truth. Should we get ANY hint of a database leak, we will let you know immediately. However, as of now, we have no reason to be concerned this is the case. We will, though, take this opportunity to once again stress the importance of enabling your two-factor authentication. No matter what kind of attacks we may suffer now or in the future, 2FA will secure your account. We thank you for your patience with us during the downtime, and hope today’s adventures in the world of Azeroth will make up for the time lost! Elysium Staff

This random ban situation is getting out of hand
Suzerain replied to Tibs's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Your guild mate purchased 318 gold on Dec 31st via three separate transactions for 106g each, selling items like ZG coins and Greater Astral Essence. He then must have felt very secure in his account because he also bought another 1,484 gold on January 2nd via 14 separate transactions, also for 106g each, selling items like ZG coins again and other random low level greens and enchanting materials. Items that sell for 1g or less do not suddenly get bought for 106g. Both sets of auction house purchases were bought by two identified and banned gold sellers, and Lefara was discovered and banned as we were investigating all of their “customers”. So far, we have had dozens and dozens of posts of people claiming to be falsely banned, here and on Reddit. So far, of these appeals that have been reviewed have all resulted in 100% confirmation of the ban's authenticity. I know these people are your friends, but they will do/say anything to get their accounts back and shift the blame. Sorry for the loss of a guildmate, but we cannot tolerate these actions. -
Another private server (we have suspicions as to which, but nothing concrete) has had their password database leaked or sold. What this means, is that if you used a password on that server and also use it on Elysium, your account WILL BE COMPROMISED. Today, several players had their accounts compromised because they used the same info on Elysium as they used on other servers. The only way to assure your safety is to change your password IMMEDIATELY. Please use a 100% unique password on our server. Rest assured that our database has not been touched and is completely safe and encrypted. These attacks have only occurred because the victims used the same login/password on multiple servers. The individuals who got into the player's accounts have been found and everything he stole has been frozen. We will continue to combat such things in any way we can, but there is no way we can combat players leaving their accounts insecure! tl;dr - Use a unique password or you might lose everything! Keep Vigilant, Elysium Staff

Greetings! Today we have posted the timelines for Nostalrius PvP & PvE servers. The Elysium PvP timeline will come closer to launch. You can find the link to the timeline here

The rules are simple! You and your faction will work towards capturing the 5 designated points. We have made some images for you to help in your struggle. Additionally, there will be statistics on what percentage of people are playing which faction. You can find these stats on the status page (https://elysium-project.org/status) Please use this to balance the factions to 50/50. Furthermore, you will not have access to any flight paths. Make use of the boats, and be sure to hold the harbors as strategic points! May the best faction win! Here are each of the points you much capture: Southshore, Tarren Mill, Blackrock Mountain, Fire Plume Ridge in Un'Goro, and the Gurubashi Arena.

"Success" "Disconnected from server" coz pre-set "staff test realm"
Suzerain replied to feariax's topic in Help & Support
You can't log in because you're not part of the staff. It's the STAFF test realm. =) It's the only server you can choose. However, you can edit your WTF/Config.wtf file and remove the bit that says SET Realm "Staff test realm" and save it, while your client is closed. -
For this stress test, we're having an event. We have spawned multiple 'boss mobs' in various places around the world! It is our hope you will band together to defeat each foe. The reason we are doing this is so you will all spread out through the zones, in order to reduce the amount of lag. Good luck to you all! Edwin VanCleef in the Gurubashi Arena Cookie on the road just before Darkshire Really scary deer in Westfall Spooky scary skeleton north of Crossroads Kresh the big ol' turtle on the Auberdine docks Singe the not-so-baby whelp on the bridge of Silverpine Forest's lake Licillin in the road's fork of Nightsong in Ashenvale And the most difficult of them all... The Hammerhead Shark of Loch Modan! You will be able to distinguish all of these NPCs as they are larger than normal to signify their badassery! Oh, and some of them breathe fire.

Random DDoS attacks are almost always the answer. We are always working to prevent them. We could, as you say, update the thread,... but it would mostly be the same things repeated throughout. That is to say, there would be little (if any) new information in such updates.
-
Greetings! The devs were doing some heavy work on the server today, which is what has been causing some lag. If you're referring to connection issues, you'll have to look under announcements for our post on DDoS attacks.
-
Greetings Hotdwarf, We found very suspicious behaviour that follow a pattern we detected for gold sellers and your actions clearly show that you wanted to hide something. I will not dive into more information that could harm our detection methods. I'm sure we'll see each other again. Regards, Suzerain
-
We do not reveal our methods of detection, but I assure you that there are no false bans for botting. Feel free to start again with a clean slate.

Warden does not kick you for what you do in-game. It's because of your game files and processes. If you're using a client that is modified in any way (the easiest solution here is to just install the one we provide) it will kick you. If you have programs that are trying to attach to the game client (most commonly it's something like Logitech trying to install .dlls in the WoW folder) it can cause you to be kicked as well.
-
What is your account name?
-
You were purposefully using the fact that world shows joining/leaving messages. You made a character named "Stockmangos" and nonstop flooded world chat with it so no one could read/write in the channel, or ignore you, so everyone had to leave the channel as a result. There will be no appeal for this.

Seriously? Banned for selling gold, I haven't sold a penny.
Suzerain replied to Whatisthis's topic in Help & Support
I spoke with you earlier. Log back on your Whatisthis character, I have new info for you. -
Greetings to the Elysium Community! Many of you have recently seen the announcement that server maintenance will be occurring at 21:00 GMT. This is NOT permanent. At the moment the maintenance and distribution of honor must be done manually, and must be done when said individual is available to do it. Very soon this process will be automated, and the time will change. The time that it will be done is currently being discussed. Please rest assured we are aware of peak times, when players raid, and when it is inconvenient for you. We will do our best to schedule it during a time that best suits the community. Until then, please forgive the downtime today. We are sorry for any inconvenience, and we know that it's no fun being kicked off for half an hour right as you sit down to play . Thank you for being patient with us! Sincerely, Elysium Staff
-
One of two things has happened. Your account was flagged and banned by our warden anti-cheat system. If you weren't using any hacktools, then the problem is you're using a modified client, and need to download the client from our website.
-
Greetings! Your account was flagged and banned by our Warden Anti-cheat system. If you're not using any sort of illegal programs, you may be using a modified game client. If that is possibly the case, please download the client from our website. Select whichever client you want from here: https://elysium-project.org/about/?#8 If you can't play without getting banned again even after downloading that new client, please let us know.

Greetings from the Elysium staff! We are extremely proud to announce the official launch is right around the corner. As you can see from the image above, the exact time for release will be August 17th at 15:00 GMT! If you're not sure what that is in your local time, you can search for the exact time in GMT and use that to convert it into a local time. On behalf of the staff, I wish to thank the devs for all the wonderful work and sleepless nights they've put in so far. Most importantly, I want to thank the players for sticking with us and showing an endless stream of support, as well as contributions to the bug tracker to make this the greatest server it can possibly be. We hope to see you all on launch day to join us in experiencing one of the greatest creations in all the world of gaming. Your loyal servants, The Elysium Staff

We're writing this post to address some issues from the players about Elysium. There have been concerns about our core, the PTR, and launch day. We are for the community, and for that reason we have decided to not only address all these concerns, but also to be completely transparent about them. Let's talk about the core. The original project our team started on was the Valkyrie server. This server is, as of now, 7 years old. It has been worked on by 10 different developers, all with different levels of experience. The Valkyrie core could be referred to as a Frankenstein, of sorts. To elaborate, IT'S ALIVE — but barely. If you've ever seen electrical work that's been done over the course of years by different people, you will understand my meaning. However, it functions. There was a problem, though. AQ 40 and Naxx would not be possible to script on this old core. It was decided, by the developers, that it would be far easier, and far more effective to create a new core than to try and force new content onto the old one. This new core will be far more flexible and nimble when it comes to adding new content and scripting. It's using a 'code standard' which makes it much easier for current and new devs to pick up the trail and build upon it. Now as to how this comes into play with the Elysium server. Valkyrie is a mostly Russian server. However, there were a few English players. Where there are English players, there must be English GMs and devs. These English staff members decided it would be a great idea to create an international server, and since this new core is much better, let's use it instead of the old one! Of course, this does have its drawbacks. While most things were transferable from old core to new -- not all things were. These things that were not transferable, they are what you recognize as being 'bugs' or 'poor scripting' on the PTR. For example: Some things in BRD are not properly scripted in the bar. On Valkyrie, BRD was completely and fully scripted, but during the transfer, not all of the dots lined up. So what? Bugs are bugs, right? Well, no. These are problems that our devs have fixed before, and they can fix them again. They don't have to discover a cure, they just need to administer the vaccination. That being said, all correctly reported bugs (https://elysium-project.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=21644#entry234846) will be fixed, as fast as humanly possible. This brings us to issues within the PTR. We left the PTR open for players to test for things that didn't transfer. This proved to be a bad decision in some ways. It was a mistake in the sense that it gave players the wrong impression of what to expect. On the other hand, it did help us to find more bugs faster, so much good did come from it. While we're not trying to hide our flaws from the public, we also don't want them to succumb to knee-jerk reactions based on the first problem they encounter. To undo some of the doubt: All appropriate content will be ready on time. While the overwhelming majority of things work perfectly already, as you are leveling, we will be starting from the starting zones working our way up in regards to things that don't. Even if you have seen bugs in the PTR, by the time you get to that level they will be eradicated. BWL, ZG, and AQ40 will not be available at launch (as per Blizzard's release), and while they are all mostly scripted, there will be plenty of time to perfect them before their far distance launches. Onyxia and MC are almost perfect as is, and any polish that remains will be done well before anyone steps foot into them. And don't worry, all raids will be tested until we can't sleep before opening. No raid will ever be released broken. It seems that largely it is an issue of trust, which is the driving factor behind this post. People are still hurting from recent tragedies in the private server world. However, we assure you we are not like the others. The Valkyrie realm has been going for SEVEN years. What other project can boast such a legacy? This is not some bait and switch in which we try to lure you in with false promises. There is no chance of us disappearing over night, or ever giving up on our project, either. This is a team seven years in the making that is here to make the best server this community has seen. And every single one of you is welcome to join us on this journey. Every server's launch begins with bumps, but no server's future will be as bright as ours. The only thing driving the team here is our passion for Vanilla WoW. The server has not made a single penny during the 7 years of existence, but instead has cost the staff creating it. The developers and staff do everything for the love of those who share our passions and have been looking for a home, and such people will always be accepted with open arms.
