Of course gold sellers are not good for a server, but you still can play ignoring them. If people stop to buy, they will eventually leave. I know gold buyers are already being banned and, given to it enough time, I think this is the correct and most effective procedure. If you ban VPN, gold seller will find other ways to sell (in fact many gold sellers don't use VPN). Instead if you convince people that buying gold is harmful for their account safety, the problem is solved.

Please explain it to me; don't underestimate the power of discussion, you could also be able to convince me that I'm wrong :-) The only issue that i see is, of course, some flaws in the economy of the server (if people have too much gold, market values drop). But this, in my opinion, should be fixed by banning people that buy gold. After a certain point I hope that buyers will be too afraid to buy gold again, really risking to lose their character/account.

Ehm, how everyone is punished by the presence of gold seller? I installed spamthrottle on day 2 and NEVER received a single whisper anymore. I don't really see how people are punished. Do you talk about the false positive banned? They are an even more minority than VPN users (like, 0.1 %). A tons of the thread on reddit/forum that says "I was wrongly banned" ended with a GM reporting the exact amount of gold buyed.

This seems still more reasonable, but its impraticable. I don't know the percentage of VPN users, but I imagine it would be a very huge task, even because every VPN user (gold seller or not) would apply for an exception. Moreover, I think that fighting gold selling is a great way to show to the whole wow private servers community that fighting this guys is possible: it takes time and many people are not "happy" about this, but it's still the right thing to do

Even if it is a small minority (let's say, 5%), it would still be not fair for them. Statistics means nothing to the individual (and, just for clarification, i don't use VPN). Even more it wouldn't be fair since is not their fault if we have this gold seller problem, people are always looking only at the "VPN users" face of the coin: the main problem is people that buy gold: these are the people that would have to be punished. Following your logic if a survey would find that the most gold buyer are in USA, we should ban all incoming connection from USA: still seems fair? Finally, if I'm not wrong, service like Battleping use VPN and they do lower your ping.

For a lot of people is to have better ping. There are a lot of service that increase your ping connecting you through a VPN. It's not something shady/illegal, it's something you can use also to improve your performance. And I disagree with the second point: I'm sure is not a problem for you because you are not one of "some countries"

Completely agree. People don't care about VPN getting banned simply because they are not using them

I think it would be very stupid to ban VPNs. Imagine if your country become the one where most gold sellers are and all of a sudden they decide to block all connections incoming from there: I'm sure you wouldn't be happy. It's not by blocking that you resolve the problem: if, like they are doing, you ban a lot of people buying gold (because everyone is pissed to Chinese gold farmer, but the real bad people are the one who buy gold) then everyone will be too afraid to buy it -> problem solved.

I was waiting in line with other players for a quest item to spawn, and all of a sudden the client stopped updating the position of everybody. I was seeing the ability/spell casted from the right position, but every player was standing still (like I was seeing fireball coming from nowhere and NPC attacking invisible players etc.). Then i went inside a cave for another quest, experiencing the same problem: NPC were working fine, but I was not seeing any players (even if I was seeing shadowbolts/fireballs coming from nowhere). Finished the quest I runned outside the cave and a stranger thing happened: when i was far from the cave I was attacked from invisible mob that should be INSIDE the cave and died. This brought to a very bad result: I can see my body outside the cave, when im near it i can see players, as it should be, but no ress button pops up. If I go inside the cave the ress button pops up, but if I press on it nothing happens. Also I tried to ress to the spirit healer, but is not working (when i press on resurrect, nothing happens). I logged out/in 3 times, i deleted WDB folder and I disabled every addon, but the problem still persists. My ingame name is Fendoor. Can you help me please? Thanks P.S. If the only solution is rerolling is not a big deal, since I was level 5, but I wanted to know what is the problem to avoid this issue in the future.
