Yes other servers have these things. That's why we have the population and they don't.

The problem here is not the mute mechanism but where it is being applied. I can understand it being used for General, Trade, World, and even whispers but it is also being used on user-created channels that many addons use to communicate to each other. Battleground chat should definitely be exempt from this mechanism. It is highly unlikely that a gold spammer is going to wander into a BG to advertise.

Nobody agrees that it is a good idea. I can make unqualified statements too.
