I raid mainly for the raiding experience. Loot comes second. Those first raids are the most fun to me because of the increased struggle, because of the lack of loot.

Keep in mind that your fellow levelers have no gold either. And if they do have it, they are saving up for their own epic mount. Best is to find something that vendors well. I've got my own list for this. But it's not in my best interest to share this information.
