Yup, same issue for me with the IP

Yeah, there was something weird with replacing high level 60 epics with greens on day 1 of TBC. I appreciate that it instantly leveled the playing field which made dungeon groups a lot easier (no "must be 4/8 tier 3" nonsense), but it also felt like a lot of the work you put in at 60 wasn't worthwhile.

They said it should be announced some time this week, I believe, so I think the best thing we can do is just chill and wait and see.

I think Elysium/Nost is doing it exactly right, you take care of the people who made this whole thing what it is first, and still allow the new players to come in and experience it for themselves. Not to discredit the staffs work and the great scripting, but the player base is what made Nostalrius what it was and if it wasn't for the players it wouldn't have got the media coverage that it did. Plus people act like no new characters can be made on the old Nost servers. I jumped in on Nost later than most (December '15 I believe) and saw full T2 on lots of players my first day but it never hindered my ability to level or experience the world.

A lot depends on how smooth the Nost servers launch. If they are buggy/laggy/sub-optimal I think we'll see more of a delay on the fresh server. If the servers go up with minimal issues they may be looking to get the fresh start up before Christmas/New Years. Patience is a virtue. A sucky, sucky virtue.

Smart suggestion, get your addons and UI set up now so you can hit the ground running

lol it'll be funny once people on the fresh server get to STVietnam and say "I've made a huge mistake" lol Granted it's a mess on every server, but imagine thousands of people 30-40 swarming that zone, it'll be a clusterscrew.

Personally I have a handful of friends that followed the private server scene for a few weeks/months after Nost closed, but gave up on it because they didn't want to lose their toons again. They were all excited and are all coming back once Nost returns, but they didn't necessarily run to the forums. I wouldn't say they don't care about the project, they'll be there on day 1, they just don't care about out of game community as much.

I wouldn't quite equate this to a democratic system, plus it was straw poll, not one that was officially run by the Elysium/Nost teams.

Pottu had this to say about the straw poll on the Nost forums: We are aware of that Strawpoll going around that shows most interest in the fresh start one but there are literally thousands of Nostalrius players who have not voted in it and might not even be aware of the upcoming chance to replay their old characters.

It will be PvP and released some weeks after the Nost PvP/PvE servers go up on the 17th. Currently there are no servers up. There's no right or wrong answer on which server you should roll on. The fresh start will have no 60s and the economy will be a little different, the existing Nost servers will have better representation 1-60 and a more established economy with higher inflation. I know Athena warned against the old PvP server, but for me the ganking and frustration is part of vanilla, your mileage may vary. Also, the old Nost PvP is my home server so I'm biased.

Yeah, if anyone Horde side from Nost PvP wants to abandon their toons and start on the fresh server feel free to send your gold to Falorthan. I'm almost at my epic mount, so make your donations.

You may be right, but my main point is Nost will be quite far ahead of fresh start in terms of progression

People who say old Nost will die are completely ignoring the fact that the fresh server will be MC/Ony only for like 6 months, meanwhile old Nost will likely be on Naxx when BWL is released.

I think the fresh start people are in for a rude awakening when they realize it's a progressive server lol

No, because the PvE server followed the same timeline despite the content being scripted already on the PvP side. Nost opened 2/28/2015, as of 4/10/2016 (shutdown) the War Effort had not begun yet. I would expect similar wait of 12+ months on the fresh server.

Over a year, Nost had it scheduled for ~13 months after launch.
