Old Nostalrius PvE server was using a player cap (around 3k-ish if I'm not mistaken). Is this also going to be the case when the PvE server launches again or is it not going to have a player limit? Not even sure if it's going to make it to 3k+ people anyway . Thanks

It is going to be a stupid mess. Ols Nost PvP was a mess even months and months after release. Couldn't take it longer than lvl 17 then i switched to the PvE server and had a blast. Leveled to 51 then the shut-down was announced and everyone spamming about it in world chat - I came right out of ZF and it felt like a knife right into the heart. Nost PvE experience was even better than vanilla back then. I don't understand why people want a 15k+ pop server tbh. The world is simply too small for that in my humble opinion. Around 3k people seems perfect for old vanilla azeroth!

There's before and after pics within this guide. The before pictures were taken with everything maxed within the ingame UI. Especially the Durotar and Echo Isle show a huge difference at a far distance. I agree many commands seems obsolete or are already set to a max. value within ingame UI, but not all of them. Let the before and after pics speak for themselves and feel free to not apply any of these values. There are many more occasions or zones where you see much more details at very far distances (e.g. hills around the zones). I am playing on 3840x2160 resolution on a 27" screen and using max. AA - this alone makes the game look sharp like a catana. It's insane.

This thread basically proofs that the whole project in it's core has nothing to do with blizzlike vanilla. Back then when the game launched there was no terms like XP/HR and grinding dungeons just to get xp, grinding high mobs in grinding groups, skipping quests (u have to on Nost of course), and a PURE STUPID RACE TO 60. Just pointing out that this is not what vanilla was about back then and so communicating that this is all about vanilla blizzlike experience is just wrong. Escpecially people who never ever had a chance to experience true vanilla won't have the chance with this project either! I'm not hating, just keeping it real and being dead honest. There was a player cap on each realm of around 2,5k-ish for good reason. Servers with 15k people did NOT exist. Not Blizzlike vanilla at all. The Nost PvE server was the only realm 100% blizzlike. I'M HYPED THO, WANNA PLAY !

I was radical enough to even leave my guild if they didn't allow me to use all my dots! I was happy enough to be real life "friends" with one of my raidguild leader - we went to the same school. So by far not all locks had the pleasure to be on top of penis- uhhh i mean damage-meters. However nowadays guilds are much more open for people to let them play their class as they want, even in raids. 16 slot debuff limit is a pain tho - 8 slot debuff limit is a pure JOKE for all locks. I am not thinking about these times anymore as they were too much pain as a warlock lel.

I have spent several hours tweaking to try to increase the grass distance but I think it's just not possible. However it won't bother you long. Max everything within ingame options and put these commands on top as Falorthan is right: Especially the grass density makes it look awesome. Also you will never ever see any sort of "end of the world" anymore! You will also be able to see players and mobs at a distance you didn't know was possible. The world feels 100 times more alive and real - I promise. Also I have enabled a command within my Nvidia settings that allows me to go much further than my native screen resolution. I play at 3000-somethingx2000-something resolution which is absolutely insane on my 27" screen. Sharp like a catana! You're very welcome, so much worth applying these commands.

You're going to like it 100%. Especially the further draw distance makes the world feel much more "real".

Thats why i posted the guide - see my thread "enhance your graphics without mod-BS" . Everything shown in this guide was also possible when vanilla was released in 2004/2005(EU) and does by no means take anything away from classical Warcrafty look that we all love to this date. There was simply no home computer that could handle it. "I'm not sure you understand the philosophy behind this project." - you nailed it! How could you possibly celebrate what they've turned the classic WoW look into. It's garbage!

Along with the highest possible resolution it looks absolutely gorgeous! I would not have imagine that the game could look that awesome. It is one of the reasons I enjoy the game much more than back then when I had turn graphics down quite a bit from max and still only at 30ish in raids or cities. Give it a try, turn your resolution to max and you will love it. You won't feel the need for mods.

1. case: You can be a good/ skilled tank and know exactly what you're doing but just don't know the content really well (ways to go, shortcuts, certain critical pulls etc.). In this case you should be honest to the guild (resp. raidleader) you are applying to. You can offer them a test lvl 60 5 man run just to show that you know how to hold thread, request cc etc. in general. Just be able to play your tank intelligently. 2. case: You know the content but you don't know exactly what you're doing with your tank, how to generate thread on multiple targets, charge in blindly, let healer die over and over etc.. In this case you should play a dps class with simple mechanics. 3. case: You don't exactly know how to tank plus you don't know the content. In this case you should also play a dps class with simple mechanics. 4. case: You know how to tank and you know the content. Feel free to apply anywhere you want as a tank! So it's up to you to decide if you feel confident enough to tank once you were told how to treat certain mobs/bosses.

You will have a hard time waiting for the new server to open when the Nost PvP is already running tho .

I have almost exact same issue bro. See my thread "I need your 2 cents!". I am also not really interested in starting all over again as I can't wait for the content right ahead. I am totally going to continue to play my Elysium char on the old Nost PvP server as I've put a lot of work in it. It's been played to perfection basically. Stick to your char and get to the content you're excited about quickly instead of repeating same content you just experienced again for many weeks. We are right there with our chars ! They are launching the old Nost server first so we're going to play on our old chars first anyway. If it doesn't feel right or whatever we will still be able to make a switch to another server (although I doubt this will happen). See you in high lvl zones, dungeons and raids!

Guys, I have/had a 53 warrior (tank spec from start as I am a full-hearted tank) on the Elysium PvP server which is now going to be transferred to the old Nost PvP (far progression ). I consider myself a decent tank as I always got credit from groups I was in and people happily reinviting me all the time. I set marks, request CC and can hold thread on multiple targets np. I have a lot of Vanilla/tbc experience as I played from 2005 - 2008 quit with WOTLK release (warlock t5, warrior tank lvl 67). My professions are all around 250 (BS, Mining, 1st aid and cooking). So I am not behind with those at all. Does it make sense to keep playing this char on the old Nost PvP server at all - as a 53 prot warrior? Noone knows my char there, no reputation, nothing and not even 60 yet . Am I ever going to find a (MC) raidspot when geared appropriately? Are there even guilds still running MC in need for a tank? What you think? I have a 54 Warlock on the Nost PvE server, too. I would love to roll on the fresh server but going through all the lvling struggle and skilling professions again from scratch? Oh man I would like to avaoid it . What would you do? Thanks a lot! (trolls welcome )

This btw counts for any horde guild planning to rebuild, recruit or prepare for end game content on the old Nost PvP server. I'm a 53 tauren warrior tank well on his way to 60 and getting bis pre-raid gear. Just let me know via this thread or PM. I am way up there with my professions, too.

Do we have the possibility to donate somehow? Server funds need to be paid and this should not be a concern for the project members only but rather for the whole community. I am not expecting any sort of gift or advantage ingame or outside the game or any of that nonsense of course. Noone should ever know if I donated or not - it's totally fine. So you truly believe he mained a vanilla raiding tank at 10 years old? No way! He clearly entered the World of Warcraft at the end of WOTLK when it was already casual CRAP! Going back at lvl 80+ to old raids/ dungeons does not mean you have experienced them.
