hey, i was just wondering if you could make this server different this time, or would i say more authentic I played back in vanilla in 2006, and basically like 2% isch of the population actually tapped into /world or /global (or other counterparts), for the simple reason that they didnt know they existed. The only channels people talked on were /1 (general) /g (guild) /2 (trade) /p, /s etc. you get my point. What i mean is that people today who started at wotlk and later xpacs are so used to the concept of the server-wide world chat that they think its always been there (again, it probably was even in vanilla, but perhaps like 2 or 1 or 5% used it). In order to make THIS release be more authentic than f.ex Feenix (warsong), Kronos, Feenix(ED), 1st release of Nost etc-My idea is therefore to restrict use of any world chat if possible until at least many people are 60 and settled. The pros of this will be that the world will feel maybe 3,5,10 times larger when (as it were) faced with the reality of only being able to talk to and recruit people for various enterprises in the land/area you´re currently in (f.ex durotar). If flying mount "decreased" the size of the world in TBC, so did the world chat phenomenon when it broke through in like wotlk Whats the general take on this guys? Guild/party/say/general/trade only Everyone jumping straight into world chat will make it feel less vanilla imo, less 2005/2006. Also, more focus on playing the game and less on squabbling about trump and isis. It will also create the awesome Barrens chat again ;DDD when ur already tapped into world chat, the barrens chat wont be AS groovy, lemme reframe myself, With the world chat, the (im?)famous Barrens chat wont be as SPECIAL. for good or bad

How will your stance on free speech be? I have experienced on Kronos wow that the GMs there dont take lightly on insults or wrong (according to them) names/guildnames etc. In other words, they act like established modern day politicians in western europe, crack down on politically incorrect people, Now, i am or will in no way spam hatred everywhere of course, and i fully understand the instabanning of gold sellers and other spammers. But it is by no means right to ban or mute people just for the reason they said something wrong. FULL, Lemme refrase that word, FULL freedom of speech is whats gonna make this server thrive once its released. And im not feeling some nice first impression vibes of said statement/question Rly its not hard, its even making it easier for GMs to operate, not having to focus on looking what people write and taking that into consideration on whether to take "legal" action or not.

Sadly, most people have been conditioned to believe like you now in this decade, but everything new aint good. Some things improve over time, others dont. mass channels are just a part in the big wheel that dumbed down everything, another part was the group finder of wotlk, the list goes on. I dont recall anyone ever showing a server-wide spanning world chat to me back then. Sure, people could and did create custom channels, but not like we have today. Just wanna say that i dont dislike both of y´all, just your stances on my issue

Its not the question of what you want to pay attention to or not, the issue is and always will be that its there in the first place and etched in stone too early. You cant ignore it any more than you can ignore facebook today, if you leave facebook everyone will wonder where you went, + everyone else wont leave most likely and you´ll miss out, but if it didnt exist to begin with, people would be mumbling around in city trade chat and durotar/desolace general chat, as most did. As you can see i´m an anti world chat and anti FB kinda guy Less global media in game and irl makes people more akin to socialize more locally, in your home town out in the streets, or in game: there, in your current zone. Getting the spam from 3245 people you cant physically see where youré character is atm is.... too much. Lifts focus from what´s right in front of ya.

I think you missed a small part i my point tough, i said hold out until many people are 60, and i think that works because the game comes with loads of channels from the start, like /g /2 /1, (but no servr spanning custom one) people dont need to create large custom world chats until raid groups need to create those necessary raid group channels you mentioned, i get that. I just think, sadly, that without an early world chat in todays gaming climate, all the less than 20yr olds will leave. But you cant let that get you down GMs! Dont bow down to the opinions of the nubz, but listen, and make an authentic server. If i sound angry, i dont care, im not, i think you know as well as i that the big insta-popisch-world chat aint vanilla authentic. Let the russkies and chinos just create their own guild if they wanna speak in their langauges, solves one of your points, until you´re in them, talk to eachother in english until together in the guilds. The same goes of course for all peoples. Its this dumbing down and complacement that the: "You think you do but you dont" people flow with. Dont become like them, and satisfy every whim of the mob, please. Make this a great server from the get go. And no PC banning people (on Kronos server they do) on feenix they didnt and thats what made Feenix team great. Heres what i mean: your quote, not mine: "It was always fun to join customer channels from other guilds..." The creating of extra channels was on a much smaller scale. The normal for a vast majority was to settle for general/trade/guild etc. NOT THIS BLOODY NEAR MANDATORY /join world the second you pop 10 or even 1 today. And the argument that often floats around this question: "If you dont like it, stop complain and dont join it" Its not valid when a majority will join it, since its there and all know about it today, which they didnt then. If you dont join a channel most people use, like the concept of facebook today, you wont get in contact with them as easily if their into the realm of Spamalot(world) and youre not. We dont have to settle for what has become Standard (was always there, as stated) it doesnt mean its for the better, because its not, the in game world becomes so much smaller. I just believe this issue had to be brought up, Peace out!

Yes, i understand that and that was the exact answer i was anticipating, But in todays world, its status quo to jump into world chat the moment opportunity to do so hits, like lvl 10 most often. It Wasnt status quo in 2006, and thats what bothers me, thats what makes it feel less original and more of this 2010s PC, SJW, politics, 12 year olds yelling and much more. Everyone i knew and played with from irl or through in game encountering back in the days when i was maybe 14 years old (medium age was probably like 18 in vanilla) didnt use world chat either, We did the above + skype, and altering that is what makes every new vanilla server that pops up feel more like 2011 cata atmosphere socially, not the pre cata vibe most people long for.
