Hi Picked up the Unyielding Maul last night and I'm quite keen to try some 2 hand Warrior tanking. Can't find much on this - is it even viable without being really over geared for content? I'm not talking about raids but I quite like the idea of a smashing through Strat and Scholo. Will the lack of armour and block mean I end up needing to sword and board for all bosses anyway? Or can I stack dodge/parry gear to make it a possibility? Will holding threat be possible against half decent DPS? Would this MS spec work for example? I figure an opening would be: Charge, Bloodrage, beserker stance, whirlwind, Beserker rage, defensive stance, mortal strike, demo shout. Thanks!

Well my setup is going to be: Healer - Druid, mostly blues, couple of greens. Tank - Me, maybe a third of the way to pre-raid BiS. DPSx3 - PUGs. =D

Can the trinket Glimmering Mithril Insignia be acquired?
Metabolomics replied to hmmstuff's topic in Blacksmithing & Mining
Can confirm that it is possible to get it - have done so on Elysium. It's totally not worth it though! -
Thanks - I've been doing this all manually. Which is not efficient to say the list!

Thankfully I know a druid who is prepared to go along with me on this. (At least once) =D

Yeah - I totally get it's not a thing, and I'm not doing it to speed stuff up - I'm thinking about trying it because it might be fun! But if it requires BWL + gear then I guess not!

I leveled as Arms and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not nearly as slow as I remembered/feared. I figured I'd go Prot at 58 to loosen up the tanking skills and get ready for the 60 dungeons. My fondest memories of vanila were tribute runs and Baron 45s. (I don't have as much time as I did in 2005 so raiding isn't really on the cards.) However I'm not sure I'll even get there with how slow it's become! It might have to be tanking BRD runs all the way to 60! (Which is still a lot of fun I seem to recall). I have a new found respect (suspicion) for the Warriors I've seen leveling all the way as Prot...

Going Prot at 58 - hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Thanks Under - it's been so long I actually had just assumed shield slam was def stance only... -

Currently I was using shield block before shield slam to get a dmg increase and then revenge when rage is available. I haven't even bother spending on the latest ranks of revenge as level 1 seemed fine for the odd dungeon while levelling. Gues I'm off to the trainer to spend what precious gold I have :'( -

Yeah - I don't even want to comtemplate world pvp. Revenge is pretty low dmg though - shouldn't I be shield slamming at every opportunity? Or is is damge/rage that matters more? -
After the killing of Quilboar became a losing battle against insanity I decided to roll my Mage alt in anticipation of some level 29 battleground antics. Anyone have suggestions on the best professions? I'll obviously be taking engineering (My main will be the mining bitch). But for a second profession should I just go for skinning or herb as a money maker? I'm on Elysium with regards population and economy... Thanks!

I've been thinking about the need/greed question for boe items and trying to come up with a real(ish) world analogy. I'd like to hear if anyone has other better examples! -------- Two homeless people out in the cold, one has a nice warm jacket, the other doesn't. Along comes a good Samaritan with, would you believe it, a spare warm jacket! He offers it to the two homeless people. You could argue that both 'need' the jacket as it has a monetary value and could be used directly or indirectly to purchase something like a hot meal or somewhere to stay for the night. I'd argue that the 'right' thing to do (in a world which isn't entirely selfish) is for the homeless person who already has the nice warm jacket to let the other homeless person have it. --------

Khalia was her name, a Night Elf Warrior. And I a Tauren Warrior. Sworn enemies. We met by chance at the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe. I helped her get a split bone necklace and she helped me get mine. An enjoyable change last night from running through STV constantly in fear of a hard and fast ganking. We helped each other kills trolls for 30 minutes or so. She got spanked by some overly enthusiastic Orc hunters a couple of times. But she always came back to me. What is it with Hunters and PvP?! Anyway, I guess the moral of the story is that not all Allies are massive c!*ts!

I'm going to assume there are people who have better gear than you in the game. Does that make you lazy and noskilled? -

Purely an intellectual exercise in constructing an analogy which adequately represents one or more looting systems which may or may not then allow people to look at said system from a new perspective. -

I agree that personal wealth doesn't (and shouldn't) come into either of those loot systems. It doesn't really feature as part of the analogy either - which makes no assumptions about comparative wealth. -
Got to Herod in SM. Start the fight and Brogg as group leader switches to master looter. Raging Berserker's Helm drops. He takes it. I know it's only SM so it's not really a big deal. But if cares enough to ninja in SM I hope none of you have the pleasure of his company in anything end game. Server was having some issues tonight so I got disconnected before capturing all the screenshots. Just got the one showing him switching to ML.

Ninja - Brogg (Orc Warrior).
Metabolomics replied to Metabolomics's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
There was no discussion of a res run while I was in the group. I even said on joining the group I needed the helm and shoulder before Brogg asked if I was happy to tank. Happy to admit I was wrong if there are screen grabs of them saying it was a res run and I said as much at the time. Brogg just laughed and said "idc'. Like I said in the post, it's only SM so it's not a big deal, just a bit sad. -
vanillaradar.com - Elysium statistics
Metabolomics replied to Aveton's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Strong work. Loving some stats. Interested to see how they change. Too soon I guess for any conclusions. It is funny how Darrowshire is seemingly an outlier in the HvA proportion. Others are fairly even or slightly more Horde. Darrowshire is much higher in favour of alliance. -
After playing a tank and a healer
Metabolomics replied to gotmilk0112's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Totally prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt and encourage some good practice - including if they're ignorant. If they don't want to or cba to try and improve then sure, find someone who will. I enjoy the first few pulls in an instance - you learn a great deal about the group you're in. "Oh, so the lock is sensible, but the mage is a bit trigger happy, but the healer's on top of things, I'll start to push the pace." -
Thank you Elysium for taking the time to put together and provide me with the nostalgic joy of what was quite a big part of my youth. I'm sure all the other people who have had the chance to play (even if it's not as much as they would have wanted) are happy to be back in Azeroth. Keep up the good work!

The key to Queuecraft is managing your expectations. That and terrible TV and a nice indie game on another screen. A delightful combination of watching the so-bad-it's-good Doom movie and playing FTL meant I hit 225/225 expert at Queuecraft this weekend.

22 hours after launch
Metabolomics replied to furandteeth's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Managed to luck my way on for 30 minutes after a restart yesterday. Not been closer than 5000 in the queue since! People will drift away but I expect they'll be 1000+ queues at peak times for the next month at least. And then probably again when new content is released. -
I have similar feelings about wanting to stay ahead, or catch up with friends and not miss out. But compared to 2005 or the expansions (I stopped at 80) my life is quite different. Children, wife, mortgage mean I only have 10-12 hours a week for gaming. I'm fine with that. I'll enjoy that time and make the most of it - and that won't happen if I'm just desperately trying to level or catch up with people.
