1- please delete the 3 following folders from inside your world of warcraft folder -Interface folder -WDB folder -WTF folder -2 Start your wow.exe and watch a video ( cinematics ) then close the game . do NOT try to login !! Have you selected a pvp or pve server out of the 4 servers ?Because a lot of people pick the QA test servers by mistake and get auto disconnections. Someone also told me that by running wow.exe under compatibility mode for windows xp it fixed the issue for them.

I would guess you picked the wrong realm when it ask you to pick the server . You need to make sure to see the list of 4 servers and pick pvp or pve and not the QA test realms. I would also like to add that some windows 10 players have reported a BUG where after the modified the realmlist.wtf text file , that windows 10 changed the file name from realmlist.wtf to realmlist.txt . if this is the case simply rename it to its original name. If you guys get the ISSUE of disconnecting from within the game world and not from login screen, then try this fix. Some people reported that they would get disconnection a few seconds after entering the game world. One player running windows 10 check to see if the game was running in compatibility mode and seen it was on windows xp sp3, when he removed the compatibility mode it solved the issue. This stopped my display from crashing whilst playing WOW. In the config file: C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\WTF\config.wtf Change WOW to use direct X9 instead of direct X11 from SET gxApi "d3d11" to SET gxApi "d3d9" You can also create a wow.exe shortcut and put it on your destop. Then right click it and click properties then under Target add a space then -d3d9 so it looks like this "C:\Users\azdor\Desktop\World of Warcraft 1.12\WoW.exe" -d3f9 This will force the game to run on direct x 9 and should fix you're freeze issue. https://forum.elysium-project.org/index.php?showtopic=25223

Also make sure you guys create a new account as the old accounts created from the stress test have been deleted. You can use the same email you used to create those accounts for the new 1. If you're having any problems with creating an account with your email , I would suggest using gmail as it seems to work best !

I was just advised that on windows 10 after changing the realmlist.wtf contents windows renamed the file to realmlist.txt . Be sure to change it back to realmlist.wtf

This is a mini guide on fixing a few problems I ran into while trying to run wow private servers like retrowow. I was lucky enough to find someone called Phantom from Discord chat whiling to spend time to fix my issues. My laptop is a Dell XPS l502x THE PROBLEMS 1- Was unable to simple right click a text file and open with notepad to be able to modify its content. 2- I would have a problem where when I opened the game client it would end up being a black screen where I could only hear the sounds from the game. 3- the game would freeze and crash, often with errors saying that my NVIDIA drivers stopped responding. Leading to hard reboot of my laptop THE SOLUTIONS First I would recommend you guys to do the folowing, please delete the 3 folowing folders before starting the wow.exe or this guide. -Interface folder -WDB folder -WTF folder Keep in mind that if you decide to delete these folders you will lose your addon's and the code in the Config.ftw text file will be reset to default. Part 1 ( How to modify a text file ) So first I will explain how to modify a text file. You need to open Notepad then click "File" in the top left corner, followed by clicking " Open .." Now you will have a new window titled " Open " that will open up. So now you need to click the down arrow next to Text Documents (*.text) and change it to " All Files ". This will make it so you can see the text files from any folder. Part 2 ( changing server connection address ) Now we can go ahead and change the server connection address from the realmlist.ftw text file ! Locate your World of Warcraft folder and open the realmlist.ftw text file . Now delete whats inside of it and replace it with the line below set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org Do not rename the text file ! Make sure to click "File " then " Save " before exiting notepad. I would also recommend to double check the text file to make sure the content inside has infact been changed. Part 3 ( fixing the black screen bug ) This was a Direct X problem so I downloaded Direct X 9 from the address below. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=8109 Click the big orange download button and make sure to NOT add to the downloads as they will offer some,only click " No thanks and continue " in blue. Once this file has finished downloading, you will run the exe and it will ask you to extract it in a file location. I would suggest to create a folder called Direct X 9 on your desktop to extract the files in it. Once all the files have been located into this new folder you will then look inside and locate DXSETUP ( Application ) . Double click it and let it run , it will then install Direct X 9 ! Part 4 Make sure your video driver is fully updated ! Part 5 ( Fixing the game crash and freeze ) Using Notepad your gonna go into your "World of Warcraft " folder and then into your "WTF" folder to locate and open a text file called Config.wtf Once this text file is open you will see some code inside of it, make sure NOT to modify any of this code. You will then go to the end of the last line of code and hit enter so it brings you down to a new line and copy past this code into it. SET gxApi "d3d9" Make sure to click "File" and hit "save" Make sure to double check to make sure this line of code has been added. TO MAKE WOW WINDOWED BEFORE OPENING ! Right click your wow.exe shortcut and go to properties, select the Shortcut tab and look for Target: it should look like this "C:\World of Warcraft Classic\WoW.exe" next to the last " your gonna hit space and type -windowed so it looks like this "C:\World of Warcraft Classic\WoW.exe" -windowed Then hit apply , while your here you may as well go to Compatibility tab and select " Run this program as administrator" I personally also Disabled display scaling on high DPI settings Thanks again Phantom for all the time you took to help me resolve these issues !
