    Problems with Nef

We did this on our 2nd ever BWL on a server that had just released BWL (Darrowshire). It was progression, and we weren't stacked with gear at all. ZG isn't out, so we don't have that gear either. They just need to learn to use their healer's abilties: priests for poh and tank heals, paladins/shamans for spot raid heals, druids hotting tanks and spot raid heals. With a little gear you can do it without even mana potting as the priest (can use a ton of mana if nef stays on your side shadow volleying). The fight is truly trivial.
  2. Dwarves also have Desperate Prayer, so that point is moot. All of the raid level fearing bosses have fear timers of slightly less than 30 seconds, meaning a warrior can typically only get every other fear with stance dance. Having at least 1 dwarf in the raid is nearly mandatory for a smooth experience. We run with 3 and use 2 on the tank and the third typically buffs the highest dps rogue. With 3 in the raid, smart pre-buffing ward before a fearing boss can mean a significant reduction in kill time. Before Magmadar and Nef, we typically end up having every rogue, warrior, and tank fear warded to ignore the first one entirely. For Ony, by the time we get buffed/clear trash we'll have it on all the melee and probably half of the ranged. This means no cleaves from bad fears at the start of phase 3, and faster kill time in p3. 5% spirit just cannot compare to this utility. In Naxx gear, you will probably be around 400 spirit, so that human racial gives you an extra 20 spirit. Not very impressive. I am the same spec you linked, except instead of improved renew, I put the extra point into spell warding. 2% spell damage isn't much, but it's better than buffing a renew I will never use, or putting it anywhere else. I agree with not speccing for imp shield, mostly because it is not very efficient, and the difference between talented shield and not will probably not decide whether that person at critically low hp lives or not. We use a renew priest with 3/3 imp renew which he keeps on tanks. It is almost never useful for any other target, despite what you go on to say in other posts. I also agree on Divine Spirit. Even the 3/3 imp renew priest can get it, sacrificing only 1% holy crit.

    Problems with Nef

Using shadow protection potions is a complete waste. They are completely unnecessary if you follow my advice above. I don't even have to mana pot to heal through phase one.

    Problems with Nef

Nef phase 1 is quite easy to heal through. Assuming your raid is split into two door groups, just make sure priests are spread so that there is only one per group (as many as you have), and evenly split in door groups, and have them prayer of heal when Nef casts shadow bolt volley. Paladins/shamans/druids can clean up whatever prayer of heal misses. Obviously using priests for aoe healing means they need to be with their group members, so raid setup is important. We typically run with 4-5 priests, so that's 2-3 per side placed in ranged/healer groups, with a tank group and melee group being healed by other healing classes. When not prayer of healing, priests are assigned solo tank healing duty (2 per side). It's important to tell your non-priests to prioritize the non-priest groups for healing after AOE happens. If your priests are paying attention to Nef, you can even time your prayer to land right after he finishes his cast (the animation is different from his single target bolt) but this sort of timing is not necessary. We only have deaths to careless mind control handling now. Don't bother messing with line of sight. That is not the solution. Get the right setup and play better.

Benediction - The Balance of Light and Shadow

Priests on Darrowshire are so terrible at this quest. Been trying to do this for almost a week now, but every time I arrive the NPC is despawned. What's worse is they come up here solo, so if they get in trouble they just fail and despawn. They need to bring a friend to interrupt the quest.
  6. Thanks for the extra buff tracking. Is there a way to range track to 40 yards? I know Notgrid can do it based on checking if a spell is in range and it also has some funky mini map based range check as well.
  7. Shagu, perhaps I'm not seeing it, but is there a way to edit which buffs are shown on raid frames? As a priest, I'm currently only able to see: Prayer of Fortitude Power Word: Fortitude Prayer of Spirit I'd like to be able to see: Divine Spirit Prayer of Shadow Protection Shadow Protection Fear Ward Thank you

DPSMate - A combat analyzation tool

My guildmate and I sent the files a day or so ago. Have you had a chance to see what our problem is? Thanks.
  9. I'd like to use the chat commands to control custom channels for classes and roles for my guild, but none of them are working. Is this by design or a bug? If by design is there any way to get this control back? It is easy for someone to disrupt a guild healing channel, for example if they were kicked from the guild, if there is no control possible. These are the commands I'm talking about (type /chathelp):

DPSMate - A combat analyzation tool

Hi Shino, Having an issue with incorrect data. Here is the parse from tonight: https://legacy-logs.com/Vanilla/Raids/Evaluation/index.php?rid=3749 Another person in my raid also uploaded a log (I saw both of ours in the queue), but the parse only says my name. I have looked at other guild parses and they say multiple names on the 'uploaded by' line. Does the server handle grouping logs together automatically or is there something we need to do? As to the incorrect data, if you look at the Gehennes (Attempt), it was actually a kill with only 1 death. One of the tanks, Zimko, only shows dealing 400 damage, yet he was off tanking the entire fight. One of our rogues, Nialo, wasn't even listed as present. We had DPSMate in use by multiple people, melee, healers, tanks and had sync enabled and we reset right before the first pull of the night. I am using the launcher of course, which I believe auto updates to the latest DPSMate version. Tonight was the first night we had more than myself using DPSMate, and our last Gehennes kill also had issues with missing data. I thought it must have just been because I was the only one using DPSMate, but I guess not. Do you know what could fix our issues?

Is it realistic to go Disc/Holy for DPS?

Theloras seems to think an Alliance priest just gets handed all these buffs and debuffs to work with, when the reality is a proper raid will feature none of them. Even with 16 debuff slots, making room for multiple judgements of the crusader is an improper use of the slots. Simply having a ret paladin in the group is a rarity (more like one being allowed in), much less 3-4. The paladins would do more dps as rogues or warriors and the smite priest would do more dps as a mage or warlock, and all concerned would do it with much less fuss and farming. Busting your balls to make something inferior nearly as good as something else that requires very little work just seems inefficient. Putting that sort of effort into the better class would result in dps that the inferior spec can't touch even if the stars aligned.

DPSMate - A combat analyzation tool

Having difficulty getting the armory to update. My character hasn't updated in 6 days despite downloading fresh DPSMate + Armory + Launcher at least 3 times in that span. It was working fine until the site change, but now I can't get it to work at all. When I close WoW, sometimes it sits there "Uploading data" for over a minute when it used to only take 3-5 seconds.

Cannot train Shadowguard on level 20 Troll Priest.

Quest also starts from priest trainer in UC. You might try that one.

    Raid Boss Debuff List?

In the world of 8 debuff limit (PVE and Elysium) your debuffs are set. They are entirely offensive, relying on tank gear and healer skill to keep the fight alive. Defensive debuffs affect far fewer people (usually 1) and typically only serve to extend the fight, further straining the raid. Sunder Armor Faerie Fire Curse of Recklessness Curse of Shadow Curse of Elements Winter's Chill Nightfall Improved Shadow Bolt

NPCs you can Mind Control for Raid Buffs

Mana burn should be a shadow spell, not arcane.

    Weak Wizard Oil

They were added in patch 1.8, so you must wait to use them when 1.8 is live on your server.
  17. How about a full rested bar to compensate? Seems fair and easy to implement.

    Pally vs. Shaman

Ignoring the actual healing performed for a moment, the ability for 1 paladin to buff 40 people alone makes him superior to the 1 shaman buffing 4 people. This leads to other positive effects like better group stacking. Using 1 of 5 slots in a party for a healer when you could have another rogue in the group with battle shout and trueshot is just not good. On Alliance side, the only time you spread your paladins out is for resistance aura, which is only a handful of fights. 1 paladin in the tank group for devotion aura (maybe two for ret/resistance aura), then the others can go wherever is empty. The 20% tranquil air totem vs 30% salvation buff is huge as well, and if you have to use tranquil air totem instead of windfury, your dps is really low, and then what is the point... Blessing of Wisdom is stronger than Mana Spring. The balance is supposed to come from mana tide, but typically this is used while the shaman is in a melee group, so the value is greatly reduced. Judgements are something shamans have no answer for. Judgement of light is tons of small heals that add up to an impressive figure that costs almost nothing (except a debuff slot). Dual wielding melee can often keep themselves alive through periodic aoe splash damage without healing from anyone. Healing stream totem is total garbage, and mana spring would be used instead anyway. Judgement of Wisdom is incredible for long fights like Nefarian, C'Thun, and basically all of Naxx. Regarding the healing now, due to the polar opposite healing style and typical assignment, I'd say they are both great in their task, but Paladin will scale better, and be better overall. Paladin is purely single target, while shaman should be assigned to purely multi-target. Shaman single target healing is pretty bad. Paladins scale better because they are so efficient, once you are in Naxx gear, you can literally flash of light forever and do reasonable healing. If you need to step up the output, Holy Light is still fantastic. Shaman's chain heal does have a good coefficient, but due to the nature of a fairly high base mana cost, it will never scale with gear as well as a paladin. As a shaman gains gear, you simply can afford a higher rank of chain heal for a little longer. It heals a bit more and you can heal a few more times, but you will always oom, and fairly quickly. There are also all the utility spells Paladins have that shamans just don't. BoP, Divine Shield, Sacrifice, Freedom, dispelling 3 different debuffs with a single cast (including magic, shaman can only poison and disease), seal of wisdom -> smack boss for more mana between heals, and more. The only major things shamans have is that their main heal (chain heal) is the only smart heal in vanilla. It will always seek a damaged player to heal. The other is the dispelling totems, that dispel the entire party, and without further global cooldowns. With so many different buffs and abilities being tied to the same 4 totems, and the group composition problem, shaman is a compromise class. Paladin has basically no compromises.

Mob Stealth detection broken on Nost??

I also played a rogue in vanilla. Stealth was not like it showed in the video. From the front you would be 'warned' at about 6-7 yards. then openly attacked from about 4-5 yards. Master of deception made it so you could almost be directly in front of a same level mob without detection. You had to nearly walk into the mob's hitbox to get them to attack you.

    How difficult/complicated is priest healing?

10 of the longest levels as disc/holy? Gross. Maybe 58 or so if you really have to.

    How exactly do Spriests fare?

I thought Wrath of Cenarius was tested to only work on direct damage (ie Mind blast) and thus was not worth it.

Disconnected as soon as I get In-game

I think I've figured out part of the 'why' this is happening. On a whim I tried a backup wow folder I had, and it worked! The only difference I could think of from my main folder to the backup folder is the backup folder had a much heavier UI than the one in my main folder. Keep in mind I'd tried with and without addons previously, so then I thought, well a heavier UI takes longer to load, so I copied my main wow folder from my solid state drive, to a normal hard drive (to slow down loading) and it worked. So, somehow if you have no addons, or a very lightweight UI, and you are using a fast hard drive, you actually load the game TOO FAST for the server. Some solutions to try: If you are using a solid state drive for your wow folder, copy to a normal hard drive if you can and try that. Try loading up your UI with things like Atlas Loot and such that are memory hogs and try logging in again.

Disconnected as soon as I get In-game

I don't know how to fix it, but I can report there is a way to get online, unfortunately it does not help much unless it's a busy time of day. I get this instant d/c problem every time I try to log in. The only way to get online is if there is a QUEUE on the server, wait through the queue, then it works 100% of the time. You can log in and stay online to play. Unfortunately there are times like right now, on the PVE server, there are not enough people playing to create a queue, so I cannot log in and play.
