I fear they will try to open a legacy server once WoW dies for real to make cash on nostalgia and fail miserably as they won't manage to restrain themselves to impose their фекал modern blizzard vision on it or something. They seem clueless, it's hilarious and sad at the same time. Seriously I lost faith in Blizz the moment I saw these guys feeling forced to shut down legacy servers because they're afraid of its popularity and not being able to do better than a team of volunteer devs working on a broken, 11 years old version of the game they're working on.

There will be only one server like this one ! No dates have been announced yet but it's a thing.

Nostralius is back with 2 servers, you can log in with your old Nost account. It's going to be as it were pre shut down annoucement. And there will be a new Elysium server up later (One/Two weeks or something, certainly not during the holidays), everyone on this one will start from scratch.

To refresh my memories and out of curiosity I checked the official Legacy Serv discussion on the US forums... I feel bad for the people trying to defend the cause of private servs. I haven't seen people being so dense on a forum for a long time.

Well spoken, couldn't agree more, uncle. On topic, it's just because of fear and ignorance that people can become so rude. Fear of private WoW overtaking the фекал retail... For some reason ? I mean, it's not like the vanilla crowd is bigger than the retail one atm. And ignorance, because you must be pretty blind and ignorant to not ask yourself why people would want to play on an older version of the "same" game. Also, it all depends at where you're looking, peeps. Don't be surprise to run across a circlejerk of entitled imbeciles blindly licking Blizzard's ball because they feel pride in "Being fan of the game for THAT long" or something, if you go on MMO Champion (blergh) or WoW official forums. The only place where private servers aren't universally hated is on the WoW subreddit run by carebears. At least they don't come hate on us here, right ?

Flying mounts (Introduced in BC that's tru), the removal of 100% of the classes mechanics and what made them unique and the addition of too much convenient crap (portals, LFR, Raid Finder...) killed the community. BC had still much going for it community wise ImO (All the action was in Outland...). Maybe not exactly as much as Vanilla but the game got more and more popular. Great video nonetheless, love the old WCM stuff

MMOs have become mainstream and steamlined (modern) WoW clones. MMOs cost a lot to make so companies don't want to take risks so they copy the big ones. We have yet to see a new MMO that doesn't sacrifice what makes a MMO, a MMO for the shake of convenience to cater to the largest audience possible. I also think datamining is фекал and any MMO hoping to be good shouldn't allow it. There's nothing surprising anymore.

I can definitely agree that game designers catering so much to the spoiled masses is definitely the worst thing that happened to the industry. So many franchises ruined because of it, it's a shame. You are probably right when you say that the designers shape the community and not the other way around. Wether the crybabies always existed or are a product of today's education is another debate I don't know enough to talk about ;(.

I've never played Vanilla, started during BC and kept playing through Cata (And some MoP. Didn't touch much the rest, it was pretty bad). More than having a community and a world that feels alive, I love being able to log into an universe I love and not ask "What can I do now ?" but "What do I want to do now ?". It's such a specific difference that makes or breaks a game for me most of the time. Older WoW managed to give me that sense of freedom and escapism like few things managed to do, while new WoW and most if not all modern MMOs don't even come close to grasping that concept anymore.

While reprimanding kids sounds like a good thing to do when they start behaving like little faggots I'm not sure that hitting them is the way to go. Anyway it's more than LoL. While the LoL community is the prime example of what most MMO games playerbases have become, it certainly didn't contribute to create it. It's just become a norm to be a dick in quick play online games. What could happen ? I'll never see these guys again ! The popularity of "Press a button and enter a quick match" type of game is to blame. MMOs have also adopted that way to play with LFR and such.

I'm still undecided about wether I should create my character on Nost or the new serv considering I haven't played on nost and it's the first time I want to really play on a private serv. I've heard all kind of opinions about it and I'm pretty confused tbh ahah. Is it going to be a ghost town, empty after a couple of months ?

I don't get how people don't realize how you can't just snap your fingers and create a server out of thin air, even ваууing blizzard can't do that Yes pretty much I've heard many times that Nost has a good community, and even though I'd love to wait for a pristine serv I consider joining nost pvp side. This whiny/spoiled crowd that appeared lately is appaling and I hope it won't represent most of the fresh server population.
