Before I get started I already know this is a pretty bad idea and I already have pretty good setup that can play WoW. I just want to do this as a Video Project for my YouTube channel and mainly for the Nostalgia
The first time I ever tried to play world of warcraft I used my first purchased family computer. I remember playing the free trial around 2009 I think... well sometime around there. It was the only computer I had at the time which was my Compaq Presario that was purchased back in 2004 at Circuit City. I'm also trying to get back the old CRT monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard that I used. So far I found the mouse and keyboard but the monitor and speakers I can't find anywhere to purchase them. Anyway here is the all the info I could gather.
Not sure on the model but it looks just like the Compaq Preario SR1230NX
Model: ?
System: Microsoft Windows XP Pro CPU: Intel Celeron 2.67 GHz RAM: 1.24 GB I don't know what GPU it has but this is what I could figure out using run dxdiag... GPU: DAC Type Internal. Intel 82845G. With 64.0 MB of memory
(Also wondering if I can upgrade this PC with a PNY NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS (VCG84DMS5R3SXPB) 512MB DDR2 SDRAM PCI GPU if possible please let me know)
Not sure on the motherboard but this what I got... Motherboard: Manufacturer sion MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL Product Gamila/Giovani/Neon series
When I was playing through the trial I remember getting decent frames and not lagging at all. I was playing on this monitor Compaq FS7555 17 inch flat screen CRT through VGA and most likely had the resolution low.
Since this is vanilla WoW I think I should be able to play at decent frames especially if I upgrade to that GPU but I still don't know if the motherboard and power supply can handle it. If anyone can help that would be awesome and I'm also still trying to buy the monitor and speakers so if anyone know of a website or place around Los Angeles California that sells old PCs, monitors and other stuff like that please let me know
