You want Elysium fixed? a 24 hour test is all you may need.
Outstanding posted a topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Greets. There are a number of intolerable issues with Elysium at the moment. These issues will resolve themselves over an extended period of time and things will settle down. The problem is that the staff are spending too much time firefighting and going from crisis to crisis, leaving little time and resources to do what they are supposed to do. Fixing bugs, communicating with the player base, improving the core and scripting later patches. This evening the staff are stretched over 4 realms, dealing with a total of 30,000+ 'players' with many 1000's still in the queue. I have a very simple proposal (not a suggestion or it would be in another forum). Apply a VPN ban for 24 hours. Do a direct compare and contrast between spamming now and spamming during the ban. Make notes on the numbers in the queues at specific times and the numbers when the VPN ban is in place. Make a comparison in percentages in classes played during these time points. See if this makes any difference on the numbers playing the AFK game. This 24 hour ban is merely a scientific experiment to see how this affects the gaming experience for players. Should it resolve most of your problems, then you can look at a permanent VPN ban. If it has little effect, then back to the drawing board. Have a nice day now -

It's a Yuge Sprite Darter, even the Grimtotems couldn't cage this one -
I had a similar issue. When you're logging on check to see which realm you end up on before it disconnects you. I was on the 1.5 realm for some weird reason. As above, deleting the WBD folder worked. I have seen an ALT+ option on the loading screen so you can choose a realm again. No idea what the sequence was though.

There's a vicious rumour going around that snow and pottu are no longer in the building either. I'm sure it's just scurrilous comments from those reddit people

A week off work for the launch?
Outstanding replied to Titousky's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Log on at start (good luck with that) Claim some nice names (all 10 of them, class doesn't matter) Create your bank alts and put them in position. Get fishing and level up to 75 on your mains Log off and do something else for a week, then come back and level up, hard core -
"Disconnected from server" "ban"?
Outstanding replied to fearfniche3's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It is when the servers aren't up and running. PvE isn't and I'm pretty sure I haven't been banned....yet The site page for realm status is also down as per: 'Oh. Something went wrong' @Kazuma is in the know I see -

Look, you either 'get' fishing, or you don't. If you don't move along now... For those of us that love fishing, it's very challenging here at the moment. The biggest issue we have is the lack of a bobber sound as per here For me, a bigger issue is that trunks are not fishable from floating wreckage as per here There's four other issues I've seen associated with fishing here Finally we have the STV contest here Now some of these bugs aren't bugs. For some unknown reason which I find extremely hard to understand, sagefish and greater sagefish are fishable and the recipe is available but you're not allowed intentionally to cook it. At least, this is what I've heard. I'm not so sure STV contest was working on Nost PvE, but the sagefish were. Bottom line, fishing issues will come down lowest on the 'to do' list unless we as a community vote them up. So if you like to get fishing back to normal, please consider your time and promote these bugs to be resolved. Cheers -

Hi there. So I've no issue with constructive criticism and being wrong. I'm wrong quite a lot. But what would be helpful is if you could explain your point of view? Mine is pretty simple, I played for 6 months on Nost PvE and all the 1.9 patch pools and wreckage worked as intended, as well as the corresponding recipes. So why is it different on this version? Are we not playing on the same core/emulator/interpretation? If the devs decided to omit the 1.9 implementation on fishing then why leave the pools there as this would have been the obvious solution. In addition, Stonescale Eel swarms are now in abundance allowing people to stock up for you know what.... Yeah I get that, problem is as @Wetpine says, a lot of us install fishing buddy, tick enhanced sound, then read a good book etc pausing only to click the mouse every ~30 seconds. Something I've been doing - perfectly legally - for over 10 years now. On the trunk you might have fished up something like Locked Chest or similar, these can still be 'caught' in open water. What I'm specifically referring to are Mithril Bound Trunks which are found in floating wreckae from STV to Azshara, the basis for which paid for my mount on Nost PvE first time around. You are pretty much guaranteed to get 1 at least from each pool, it's not a low drop at all. I've 500 successful casts in Bay of Storms with another 9 hours worth of Aquas to keep me occupied. -
Customization of Content & Gold Farmers
Outstanding replied to Ram's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I actually agree with you but not for the reasons you might think. Blizzard never intended that players would solo-farm instances of similar levels. The fact that you can solo-farm is sown to poor scripting and pathing from Blizzard, not down to intentional design to allow for solo-farming. As a consequence, before Nost PvP was shut down last year, there was actually more mages on the realm than any other class, and this was purely down to AOE and solo-farming for gold. At that stage, the economy was already screwed. Where we are now, with the DB being restored and all the gold associated with the accounts - some of which was given away before the rollback - along with hundreds of hacked accounts, 24/7 gold spamming and other issues, it really doesn't make a damn difference at this stage whether it gets nerfed or not. It's too little, and it's too late. Implementing it on the fresh PvP sever makes perfect sense though. In fact, the trauma of the last few weeks with all the hot fixes and anti-spamming/banning/roll-backs/DDoS attacks make the fresh server a really good option at this stage. -
No Fishing sound on Nostalrius ! Support the bug !
Outstanding replied to Rafale's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
OK so one (temp) solution is to use your mouse-wheel for camera and scroll through your body so you can just see the water as you're in front of the toon. It'll bring the bobber up real close depending on angle, then you can't miss it. -

It;s not universal. The bobber sound worked for me for about 4-5 hours. It's not UI related either -
Gold Buyers: the real problem?
Outstanding replied to Dralek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
So these scams as you call them them, the ones that have hacked hundreds of accounts and stolen all their money, before spamming the chat channels ad nauseum, and then getting these accounts banned, we can just ignore them right? Because all the gold they took was just fooling right? -

Gold Buyers: the real problem?
Outstanding replied to Dralek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
The Great Firewall of China makes it exceptionally difficult for them to go about hosting servers, downloading clients and doing the itty-bitty research you need to do trawling for information on videos or on websites so that so-and-so boss is scripted correctly and so-and-so weapon procs the correct percentage. Far easier to just connect to someone else who does the work for you, it's not perfect, but better than nothing. This wouldn't be pandering to the Chinese, these would be about removing the worst aspects of gold selling, gold farming, account hacking and reducing the population to manageable proportions. It also gets around the racist beatstick accusations you will get from the Pontificators. -
Gold Buyers: the real problem?
Outstanding replied to Dralek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
In what way will it hurt the server deeply? By general estimations the population of Nost PvP was 13k max before closure and 30% of this population was Chinese. Of the top 10 guilds, 4 were Chinese. There were more AOE farming mages on each faction than there were warriors. So how do you determine the 'good' Chinese and the 'bad' ones? Not to mention the language barriers. The Chinese love Warcraft. The movie itself being was pilloried in the West but did fantastically well in China. They deserve a stable realm to play WoW without the restrictions of language they have here. They deserve to have a realm where they won't have people thinking they are bots, farmers and the like. Rather than doing a fresh PvP server, make one for SE Asia with a proxy server based there to reduce ping. Allow it to be VPN friendly. Then VPN protect the current realms, lose 30% of your populations, reduce lag, queuing, draw distances, reboot the economy, remove 100,000's of gold and reinstate all hacked accounts. -
Gold Buyers: the real problem?
Outstanding replied to Dralek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Here's the deal: You say, accept the gold spammers on the basis that they find a way to win in the end, so let's all get together and stop buying gold. I say, the same applies to players, in most iterations of WOW there are always a sizeable number of players who are too lazy/don't have enough time, and will buy gold. Both parts of the equation need each other to survive, and for over a decade they already have done so. Elysium is not going to be any different. Any research on player numbers, classes played, top guilds and the AH economy will show you that old Nost PvP economy was pretty rotten with gold farming and spamming. The old PvE was doing pretty good but heading in the same direction. Plus, you add all the password breaches, website hacks and everything else into the mix and you get exactly what you are getting now. Can it be fixed? No. Will the staff and devs do everything they can to limit the issues? I am sure they will. They have been working 24/7 to get the realms up and running and killing themselves recently over the Christmas festive period just to stop things from collapsing completely. I am sure things will get better, and gradually. But it's not fixable. I think releasing yet another realm to further pressurise staff and spread them over three realms is insane, but they have no way of going back on that decision now. The new realm will not be any better bar reducing pop numbers on the other realms. The same problems will be there, and the AH, the gold farming, the spamming will inflate along with the economy. You'll find that the gold prices for buyers are expensive to begin with, but will reduce in value as people farm more and level up. There are four Chinese companies currently selling gold for Elysium realms that correspond with their advertising on the realms themselves. If you don't believe me do a /whois check on their websites. I am sure there are a lot more discrete versions around, but a simple decision to ban VPN connections will kill off 90% of the spam and remove the reason and access on accounts being hacked. As for retaliatory DDoS attacks, Elysium has been actively targeted on this since launch, the devs and staff talk about it all the time. So how much worse can it get? It is really, really important that Elysium makes a success out of this server. If the server starts to spiral and people give up then it could sound the death knell for progress in Pservers as people give up and lose faith. Some very, very tough decisions are going to need to be made in the next few weeks because this will end up as death from a thousand cuts is they just band-aid there way through fire-fighting and not go for major surgery. It begins with banning commercial VPN connections. You can always add white list options later -
Tauren size look two times smaler
Outstanding replied to Wolebor1978's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It doesn't happen to all Tauren I've noticed, the purebred ones like me are still in our original size - for everything! I wonder if it refers to older Nost1 toons? At least people can see targets now if you have a mini-Tauren tank. -
So, at the base of the screen you have 'next unread topic' on the RHS which will be the thread closest to the forum section you are perusing. On the top and on the bottom you will have 'Unread Content' which will give you a chronological list of threads and topics that you haven't read. Lastly there is 'mark site read' which you can use if the unread threads are not relevant and you have no interest. The problem I guess is the sheer weight of new posts as this means managing unread content is troublesome, especially on the gold/spammer/technical ends. But the forums will settle down as I'm used to this forums on another Pserver and it works really well with the added options like @Gehere

What Server was Hacked?
Outstanding replied to weemann86's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Clue: It wasn't Kronos -
Also, they should take into account cross-factional sales through the neutral AH on the PvE realm. Commonly they use the 1 Iron Bar = 100 gold selling price to get money through to their horde toons having figured out that Alliance are pink fleshy cry babies

Me? I'm just trying to help with your rep. I saw what happened to you before they stopped the +/- on the old Elysium forums.

All gold gone? You may not have been hacked. Please add to this thread
Outstanding posted a topic in Help & Support
Greets @Pottu will know me from the Nostalrius forums where @killerduki and I spent many a month arguing about Crestfall and Holy Resistance. For the record, Killerduki was mostly right. Anyways, my main toons are Outstanding and Cardinalsin. I played these toons on Nost for about 6 months on the PvE realm so I have as they say a little bit of history and I would hope, decent reputation to back this thread up. In short, I don't bullshit and have a level head and respect for Nost + Elysium + GM's. So here's the deal. 48 hours ago I lost about 170 gold from my main toons. I have 7 of them, four of them have gold. Only the gold was removed. No silver was taken, no items were vendored, no toons were trashed, no bank slots were pilfered. Just. The. Gold. I have been hacked on retail, I've been hacked on Pservers, but the MO is always the same. You take all the monetary value, you vendor all the equipment, you check the bank slots etc. You do all this, because you have time. The owner can't get into your account while you are online, more to the point, if he can't get online on Elysium he'll assume that this is owing to server issues or DDoS attacks. Only when eventually they log on will they realise they have been hacked. In this particular instance, I am of the opinion I wasn't hacked. I think this also includes a lot of other, possibly a few hundred accounts. I think this is the case because only the gold was removed. Interestingly, this also included the gold from my mailbox from selling an arcanite bar. Here is whatt I think happened. I believe that the mods created an algorithm to check any accounts over a certain amount of gold, let's say ~100 gold. They cross-referenced this with any 'suspicious' activities. Let's say the transfer out of 50 gold+ to another account or between toons in the same account. Once identified, they just removed the gold. Pure and simple. This explains why the silver, which would have amounted to a few hundred gold over a few hundred accounts, was left alone. It also explains the surgical precision in how the gold was removed from multiple toons leaving everything behind. Think about this. If you have the time to go through seven toons (in my case) and just take the gold, then you sure have the time to vendor trash the equipment too. So why was I targeted? Well simple, the 24 hours preceding the 'hack' I switched professions and levelled up Outstanding to 280 LW. That was pretty expensive I can tell you. 50 gold from the toon and another 50 gold from my bank alt. How do I feel about this? /shrug I can understand that in targeting gold sellers this is a necessary evil. So by and large I get it. But if this is indeed what happened, or a similar scenario, I think those of us affected should get their money back. If not, I'm sure we'll get by but confidence bring it does not. It would be helpful if people similarly affected posted their experiences so we can see what the parameters were (for example, how much gold was 'stolen' and if you did any gold transfers out in the preceding 24 hours, and if so, to whom (generic) and how much?) Otherwise, carry on.... -
