Did you choose "IP Lock with authenticator" or "Always use authenticator"?

I already read your sources and there is no European source(not explicit at least), even the book as it refers to US-Anetheron server. The EU server of Anetheron is German so most likely the conversations wouldn't be in English if it was that one. They only confirm that VC is correct in the US but not in EU. The "source" I provided was just to show that Germans made their list, got stickied and if it's wrong it would be corrected by the community. Here is just another guy confirmed to be American: "The_Abhorrent"(from GameFaqs): #62's signature: "Abhorrent's Armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Rexxar&n=Roht Would you take his advice?" #67: "Linking my armory into your signature (for those who are wondering, yes that is my armory -- it's not great, but I'm honest) may easily qualify as trolling if not outright harassment." http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/534914-world-of-warcraft/52459381?page=6 That armory link is a US one. Europeans can ignore whatever he said at http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/534914-world-of-warcraft/45148597?page=2 If he were from EU and said that then it would be more interesting but even then he is just "some guy" on the internet. I already checked some other users in my previous posts, even Rustak. When I played on Frostmane-EU in late 2006(also early 2007 but that's irrelevant), no one corrected me to use VC instead and Frostmane was a good realm imo; we had two alliance guilds that cleared Naxxramas: Memento Mori and Security, one horde guild: In Excelsis. I just mention this so you don't think I just played on some random low pop realm that didn't clear anything :P But again, Frostmane-EU is just one realm out of many in Europe with its own history. I already said before that I acknowledge that VC is used in the US and won't argue against it but you aren't acknowledging that EU might have it different. If you want you can agree to disagree(it's pretty much implied already I guess).

They can still get frustrated even if it's about Dire Maul. Alice wants to do DM west and advertise in chat by just saying "LFG DM". Bob is forming a DM east group and whispers Alice: "want to come DM east?" which Alice replies: "no, I'm looking for DM west". Bob: "..." (basically). But yeah, VC vs DM debate should be an internal debate with just Americans; we in Europe don't really have anything to do with this as we aren't part of the US community which invented VC for Deadmines, in my opinion. I probably just butt in with the "Europe crap" but I felt it was implied that Europe was part in this. So that's why I wanted to make others(Americans) understand our point of view. The US community and the EU community have their own history and they shouldn't be compared. I should probably say the English community in EU as for example in German, "The Deadmines" is called "Die Todesminen" so on the German realms they might've called it "TM" while "Dire Maul" is called "Düsterbruch" so they really could care less about "VC". I'm not German though so I can't speak for them, I'm just thinking they made their own German abbreviations(makes sense imo) or just shorten it like "Düst" but I have no idea. Edit* If we are allowed to use non English sources then here is a German source: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/92145-das-abc-der-abkürzungen/ -> Blue unstickied two years later and pointed to: http://web.archive.org/web/20081219031211/http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=5383649182&sid=3 instead. First link says that DM is usually Dire Maul. Basically just to be aware of it. Second link says to differentiate between the two you should specify west/east/north for Dire Maul. (Which is what most likely happened as time went on for them.)

Can you call American GameFaqs and wowhead users as "sources" though?(to prove what's going on in the EU region) I'm pretty sure they haven't influenced Europe at all to use VC instead. "Dradeel 2" for example is most likely American due to his reviews for Phantom Brave and Etherlords II are dated 10/21/04 & 10/28/03 while the EU releases are dated 02/04/05 & 03/19/04 respectively; I guess he could import them from the US but I think it's unlikely. This guy is also American: http://ptr.wowhead.com/user=pelf . "Boot Danger Gaming" youtube channel says "Country: United States". "My Gaming Experience"'s video uses AM/PM clock system on his desktop; as far as I know all countries in Europe uses a 24-hour system for digital clocks, so 3:00 PM that America uses = 15:00 for us here, so this video is most likely also from US. US community managers aren't EU community managers so even if a blue in the US changed the title to include VC it doesn't affect us here in Europe. Maybe I misinterpreted your post and it was about the US region and not both regions, in that case nevermind. I wasn't suggesting that VC is wrong in the US. It would probably require propaganda to spread VC usage in Europe :P

Here are a few videos that use DM instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCrNdCk2LCQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Voc-D83l4MA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTgssKkXh_Y If the articles are written by americans then they could be biased since the authors would most likely play on the US realms so that's what it would be based on I assume. Rustak for example is from US as seen here: http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/User:Rustak -> http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charsheet/616872 VC = Voice Chat: http://urbad.net/blue/eu/1153437176-101007_Voice_Chat_active_for_everyone jk :P this was the only thing that came up when I googled "vc site:http://urbad.net/blue/eu" while with "vc site:http://urbad.net/blue/us" you get Deadmines instead. I tried to check if I could find something at: http://web.archive.org/web/20051127011431*/http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/board.aspx?fn=wow-general-en and http://web.archive.org/web/20050615000000*/http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/board.aspx?fn=wow-dungeons-en about vc but couldn't find anything on the available pages. I don't deny that VC is mentioned at eu.battle.net but it's less common. It's more frequent on us.battle.net But yeah it doesn't really matter what's being used, I can say "lfg westfall dungeon" and people still understand that it's Deadmines. Maybe it could've been called TD - The Deadmines(since this is what it's literally called) or would people still think about Tower Defense? I guess TDM could've worked as well. I'd say if you are from Europe and have played on the EU realms then you can say this, if this was directed at us europeans. But yeah I don't think we can't make any progress on this discussion if you can call it that(seeing as EU is just getting belittled). Just in case you get the wrong idea, I am respecting the use of VC after learning it was the norm on US realms. I hope you guys are friendly :) right now I don't get that impression unfortunately; at least we can agree to disagree(about US players not willing to be interested to understand EU players' point of view).

Looks like it's the case, but we are only a small sample so can't really draw a conclusion. We in the EU(from my experience) can most likely distinguish between "DM" and "DM East", "DM West" and "DM North" in the chat; I'm sure you can as well but you prefer to use something else and that's cool. I also have a habit to shift click to check levels anyway so that's additional information I can use. If I see level 20s say it then I think of Deadmines and if I see 60s I will think of Dire Maul but then I have to ask what side they are going to do, if they already said what side then it can only mean Dire Maul(which I'm used to). I think it's best to respect both sides and learn the differences between the regions; I now understand that US prefer to use VC to refer to Deadmines but to avoid conflict myself I will just spell out Deadmines. I'm pretty new to Alliance as a whole; only played for like 6 months on Frostmane EU while I had years as Horde so I never run into this before but in my short stay I never saw VC, not that I can remember at least. I'm probably repeating myself but just wanted to make it clear from my point of view :)

I can't say if I remember any "VC" on Frostmane EU but I remember I didn't use it, this was in late 2006 though as I was planning to reroll Alliance with a couple of friends for TBC; before that I played Horde on Bladefist EU / Outland EU(mass server migration) which I eventually went back to; prior to that was as Horde on Bloodscalp EU(irrelevant, I know). On a more recent Atlas (1.12.0) it says DM for Deadmines and DME, DMW and DMN for the Dire Maul instances. I don't know if that version is fake or whatnot but meh, it doesn't really matter imo. Off topic: one thing I'm not used to see is "PST", the realms I played on used like "w me" etc. instead or just left it out and just let the LFG/LFM or whatever message it is to speak for itself; since you know, you usually whisper the person who puts it up.

It's not really confusing when most people add west, east, north/tribute. It's like with SM; you almost always add GY, Lib, Arms, Cath to specify what part you are going to do, never just "SM". I don't think many people do east+west+north in one session, at least I haven't seen that. VC is fine to say if it's hard to pick up from context or just lazy to shift-click to check people's levels, imo. In the end it doesn't matter, it's easy to figure out.
