  1. I've seen alliance run to aid people getting ganked in cities. I've yet to see alliance bother helping anyone in zones. Most seem too preoccupied with whatever it is they're doing; raiding, farming, questing, whatever. If it's out of their way, they likely won't help. If they run by you getting ganked, it's a coin toss. I've had alliance run by me getting corpse camped and requesting help. It's unfortunate that I chose a class and spec that is practically worthless in PvP. This, for the most part, seems to be the way 60's treat it. I've seen lower levels engaging in it a lot more often, or at least helping others in the zone. As for BG PvP, it's pretty active. Most Alliance that want PvP seem to spend most of their time there. Horde, on the other hand, is almost always found camping flight paths, dungeon entrances, what-have-you.

    Reporting players?

Is there an in game report function? How would you report a player?
  4. Regular fireballs do 400 damage, but Fire Blast does close to 700. That makes no sense. One takes time and should do more damage then the other that's an instant.
  5. Shaman is better elemental at this stage than enhancement. or healing. honestly, it shouldn't matter. play whatever is fun for you. playing a class you don't really like would be dumb. i play warriors. warriors are almost terrible at everything, but i still like playing them.
  6. And I thought I was the only one. Paladin hate unite!

A neutral argument that could favor either side. You will certainly see these people even if there isn't a way to turn it off. Turning it off just makes it easier. It is less restricting, since you can do other things without fear of leveling out, such as playing with friends, or guildies, and helping them gear up. One could argue there is no difference between going to 60, not farming BIS gear and getting wrecked in the process, and being level 19, not farming BIS gear (and getting wrecked in the process), which seems to be the main argument against it; "I don't want to do any work to be good in that bracket, so no one should have better gear than me"... other than there are ways to twink yourself far beyond the norm, such as expensive enchants... which is easily fixed, like I already suggested.

You're arguing just to argue. It's annoying, and stupid, and pretty childish, tbqh. If you don't like my suggestion, kindly get the вау out. You said your piece, so leave. Thanks.

The question isn't about whether or not the proposed fixes "relates" to the problem, it's whether or not the proposed fixes affects anyone in a negative way, other than those that would take advantage of it (ie. battleground twinks). You have not given a good reason why these enchantments should affect anyone under level 40, or item level 40, therefore, the changes are an acceptable solution to the problem. Most of what you said just doesn't make sense. Also, refusing to argue with someone doesn't necessarily mean "admission of defeat". It could also mean I don't have the patience to deal with your rambling.

Thanks for trying, but you're wrong. On many things. Putting more words in between them won't change that.

This is a discussion. If there is a problem, you look for a way to fix it. Certain types of twinking is an acceptable argument against this, so you find ways that mitigate it. If that was your only concern, then there is nothing left for you to talk about.

That people could stay in battlegrounds wasn't the cause of the imbalance. 225+ enchants not working on anyone below level 40 would solve most of the problems. You could simplify that by just not allowing mongoose and crusader on weapons below level 40, and also +100hp... all of which should have not been allowed to begin with. There are others that I'm forgetting, though. It could work with tweaking.

Why does this bother you? Because it's not "blizzlike"? Kindly show yourself the door.
  17. Assume for a moment that Blizzard never released expansions, not even TBC. What changes would have eventually been made? Should certain things be considered for a vanilla server if they were talked about for a long time and just not implemented until later dates? One I can think of off the top of my head was Ret Paladin overhauls. And let's forego the use of the word "blizzlike". Let's face it, if we were "blizzlike", we'd be 6 expansions deep and pissing off our playerbase until it steadily declined to a dead game. There's a reason there are a lot of people like us that still wish to play on a vanilla server, and that's because anything "blizzlike" is an insult. It's a stupid buzzword thrown around for no good reason except to immediately shutdown any discussion about proposed changes.

How those changes are implemented is the problem most people have with it, I think. It's a good example of why this type of thing should not immediately be shot down and discarded, and why there should at least be open discussion about them, otherwise you get servers like you say that make their own changes and everyone just deals with it. IMO, a worse outcome is that proposed changes/fixes are never even considered by the community, then you're just stuck with a good game that has glaring issues but we'll just ignore them because reasons. That they fall outside of a certain date is the worst excuse of them all. In some cases, it's clearly just an issue of common sense and really shouldn't be that hard to understand. Being vehemently against something that just makes sense is stupid.

    Quality of Life Changes?

Repetition is what every non-multiplayer game is about, and people enjoy playing their favorite games over and over again. I do it. You probably do it. The reason anyone is here is because they want to experience vanilla all over again. Yes, there will be a point where you have done everything and maybe you get bored with the game... that's fine. It happens. Maybe you go do something else and then come back later. That should be the goal of this server, or any server that tries to recreate an experience. Making changes for the greater good, things that may be considered changes that would have eventually happened in the first place should not be looked on as a destruction of the experience. Think of it as making the game what it could have been without everything that made it worse. Of course they will need to be discussed, tested and such, but there are things like that, and they should be at least considered in the long term. Bottom line is that this server doesn't need to advance to a new stage of the game. It can be fine the way it is. Another server can be made to recreate additional experiences (like TBC). People will undoubtedly play there, and they'll probably play here too. What I want and never liked about most MMO's is that I never, ever, reach that point where I'm happy with what I have and what I accomplished. More often than not, those games force me to keep adapting and progressing. I WANT to hit that point where I have everything I want for my character, so when I finally feel like I can retire it, I can play something else and maybe use that character to beat up the asshole that keeps ganking my new character I want to get to that same point. Yes, I will get bored and I will move on, but I want to come back and experience what made this game fun at this stage over and over again. It actually reminds me of a game I used to play way back when. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Realm_Online You know what you did when you hit level 100, had all the best gear and such? You stood around town and chatted with people. Sometimes you gave away items you accumulated and didn't need. Sometimes you went out and griefed people and took their stuff. The point is that the game ended at some point (at least until years later when they released a huge update). But still, there was an ending even then. And maybe I just contradicted myself... but I guess the point is that the game can be fine in this state, and it could be further developed in this state. Two different things, however.

    Quality of Life Changes?

I'm not against it, I would just prefer it stay. IMO, the problem with many MMO's is that people/developers think there should always be something to progress towards... why can't it just be "finished", you hit the cap, you got the gear and now you lay back and enjoy what you have, do something you like (PvP?) and let it be that? If you want something to work towards, why not just make a new character and do it all over again? The idea that there should always be something to achieve at the top is what kills many MMO's in the first place. And when you think about it, this server will have to hit that point in the future... this is a vanilla server. There doesn't need to be TBC, WOTLK, or anything else. In fact, anything else may as well just be a retail server, because you're falling in to the same trap that is killing the game there.

It isn't so much about balance really, but I suppose it could be seen that way. It's more about changes that were always in the works and just got shelved until a later date or expansion.

    Quality of Life Changes?

You clearly didn't play at launch. Probably, but discussion doesn't hurt anyone. These aren't changes that will be made, they are changes that could be made if the community would stop being stupid and just talk about it without throwing a fit. Personally, I would rather the server stay vanilla. There are other servers in development that will start with TBC.

There was discussions and patches long before TBC. If you don't remember any, I don't know why you're still here.

Very constructive, thank you random newbie. I'm not going to continue arguing the definition of a word, series of words, or with people that refuse to contribute anything other than their own half-assed opinions about something said offhand and/or completely off topic. Let's go back to this; And start over. I don't even play a Paladin.
