WoW isn't "EQ done right". They're two completely different games. I prefer WoW over EQ but comparing the two is like apples to oranges.

You realize you can increase the font size in eq?

Phase 3 had whelps spawning with nobody in the eggs constantly. Was a hotfix recently applied that may have caused it?
