I am having this same issue. I have done everything in the post you made. Account is definitely set up, verified, I had the wtf file correct, but used the one you provided just to be sure. It gets to the TOS, logs in, and will even let me select US and tell it to suggest realm. It puts me on QA realm 1.5 and then says connecting, shaking hands, success... disconnected.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've checked the youtubes, read the support forums. It's frustrating.
