I don't use the program, but I can see where it would definitely be beneficial. I feel a bit lacking in FOV (using a BenQ 35" ultrawide/curved, 21:9/2560x1080). I'd say wait for an official word from the staff (even through private message) before use.

there are a number of rumors relating the request from Nostalrius to the shutdown notice of The Rebirth in some grandiose conspiracy by Blizzard; this to me doesn't seem altogether unlikely. Does anyone have accounts/access to other forums that could search for signs of coming/potential shutdowns, community reactions, etc. While it doesn't seem crazy that this is all part of some coupe by Blizzard, I think we should gather a preponderance of evidence and let that lead us, rather than the alternative.

My primary concern is the fact that the Pastebin, while not their final announcement, is extant. What I find disconcerting about it is that it appears they've considered deleting transferred characters. To what end? Nostalrius may have generated the data, but it is in no way theirs. The characters may be deleted, but these players aren't going to be strong, fervent supporters of an official legacy servers; they'll simply start anew with a newfound bitterness towards Nostalrius, Blizzard, and the Elysium staff. There is absolutely no benefit. I only hope that Elysium does what is best for the playerbase and the future of the server, realizing that a betrayal of this size would have a tremendous effect on the server, the population's perception of the staffs intention, and the players themselves that have put hundreds (thousands?) of hours of playtime into their toon. My 2c.

Oh, you're asking how to eliminate people from selling gold ad infinitum? That's silly. No server has stopped them so far, and they won't. The best you can do is eliminate them from the server. I mean, that is the topic being discussed, no? Oh wait, I'm incorrect, it relates to VPNS. So do tell, how will banning VPNs stop people from farming gold, optimizing web searches, and all of the other (in)direct effects of gold sale? I'll wait. (Hint: the problem isnt the farming of gold, it's the sale. The scope of the problem is this server, not the gold sellers website. The method of solving the problem should match the scope, lest we argue over impossibilities and delay actual solutions) My 2c.

If you keep a well-updated (daily) list of keywords that get auto-spam filtered, or perhaps an account suspension, when used in chat that includes phrases that are common in goldseller advertisements while being unlikely to be used in general conversation, that could be a start. I can see it from both sides; I can see plenty of reasons between ping, traffic management, etc that a VPN is a viable, useful solution to dealing with a subpar connection. In addition, there's no guarantee that the accounts used for goldspamming are using VPNs. In my personal opinion, an outright disabling of VPN connections would do more harm to the legitimate players affected than to goldspam. My 2c.

Just a thought experiment, but assuming you wanted to attempt a 5-man dungeon without a healing spec in the party, what do you think the best build would be? Note: I know this is 2k17, this isn't optimal. and we're all bleeding edge raiders who would never attempt something like this, know all the strats, bring resistance pots, Binding on reserve, no dru.. wait, lost my train of thought.. For example, I think a prot paladin would probably work best for something like this; SoL/JoL/Conc would give them a fair amount of self-healing, increasing sustainability+aggro. To support a ppal, I'd think a spriest (for it's ability to group heal while DPSing) and some form of druid would be preferable to keep innervate. These two classes also bring a fair amount of CC with utility (shackle, MC, roots, hibernate, fear, bash, offheals/pre-hot/PW:S, Druid can bear/emergency taunt, etc). I'm wondering whether itd be preferable to bring like a Mage/Rogue combo in addition for ACTUAL dps, maybe swap one for a lock for synergy with shadow/arcane, or perhaps a hunter for traps/stings/pet? Or even stack another Spriest/Druid for double VE healing+innervate, since the comp isn't TOO dot heavy. I dunno, I think my final comp would be ProtPal-Spriest x2-Boomie-Warlock (or Rpal only w/ Nightfall) Think that could work? Crazy pipe-dream? Or perhaps you have a better idea for a comp (feral tank+4 arcane mages? lmfao)? Lemme know

I gotcha. I don't expect it to be extremely practical, just wondering about what COULD be done (or not) given the (s#itty) optimal setup. of course, I'm sure after a certain level of gear, the setup even becomes irrelevant (idk, 5xT3/Tfury warrs in BRD).

Oh I don't doubt running *nearly* anything with a protpal at all requires a bit of outgearing. Just wondering is all. Reconsidering the lock/nightfall because im thinking an SPriest with CoS/NF proc might have TOO much aggro. Meh, i dunno.

In the one instance I'm personally aware of, my friends character whispered me to sell gold. I texted him ,he woke up, logged on to kick him off, logged off and changed his password. The next moment he was banned with no warning. He said if his gold total changed significantly, he didnt notice. So theyre probably all just beign used to advertise that site, which is a really strange reason to perma-ban nearly 100 accounts in a single day.

Read the main site. Another server had the DB leak and the thiefs are trying all of the same account information, along with easy variations to brute-force accounts. The GM response I've seen so far has been troubling, considering this was a day-0 attack, with no warning, and no wrongdoign by the majority of the playerbase.
