I just wanted to update to anyone who was in the sane boat as me (joining the gold selling guild and being banned). I got confirmation that my account was unbanned. For anyone who hasn't already done so, make sure you open a ban appeal and change your password. Thank you to the Elysium team for the help. They are certainly not looking to ban actual players for no reason.

I believe, a few hours ago, everyone who accepted the invite to the guild that was labeled as one of the gold selling websites was banned. Can anyone confirm this? My account was banned and it was the only reason I can think of as none was given to me. I joined the guild specifically to avoid being spammed as there is no default option to turn off guild invites as far as I know (does /dnd solve it?). Anyways, there were around 100 members in the guild at the time I got banned. I submitted my ban appeal the way mentioned on the site but wanted to know if anyone else was curious about this or has any information on allowing those players back into the game? I only saw one officer, and the leader, both with similar names that were part of the spam process. Everyone else seemed to just be a usual player trying to level.

Okay, well if that works then awesome. For future reference though, Google Drive is a free service for up to 15GB of storage per gmail account. It's just a nice way of transferring big files around or using it to backup stuff where it won't get deleted if your computer has issues. But first option is to unzip the files properly. I believe Windows 7 and higher have a built in program to decompress files, but winrar and winzip are both good alternatives. Just make sure he keeps all the files in one main folder for organization and the game should run fine when launched from WoW.exe

Can you try uploading your game files to Google Drive and having him download it that way? I did that for my friend and it worked perfectly fine. Otherwise it sounds like it may not be downloading every file or something is wrong with how his computer reads it.

Well at least those questions are cleared up now. That's literally all I was asking for from the start. And I do understand they can ban anyone for any reason, but if you tried to log in now and were banned, would you not wonder why? I never said they had to, just made a comment about not knowing and that I wish I had. Shiamorah, that's exactly what I planned on doing from the start. I truly do not understand what made this thread blow up the way it did, but now that I have my answers, I'm off for the day. Shiamorah, thank you for being reasonable. I do think the biggest concern here is that I was banned with no notice to myself. There's no email or anything, and while it may be difficult for them to email everyone as they seem to do a lot of bans, it makes this whole situation very confusing. There's still a possibility that my ban was completely coincidental with me joining the guild, I just can't think of any other reason. My thought process is that by joining the guild, I am advertising for them, what makes me associated with the gold sellers and that would make sense to ban me, as I said earlier. With that said, I do intent to give it time for my ban appeal to be read. That is precisely why, in my very first post, I asked if anyone else had this issue to confirm that my reason for being banned was due to joining the guild. Secondly, I asked how ban appeals are handled and if I would receive confirmation of a permanent ban or a lifting of the ban in my email. So, since my initial post was quite clearly ignored, can somebody answer at least one of those questions for me?

My highest character is 21, almost 22. Yes I could make a new account and play a new character, but should I be required to do so? Furthermore, if that's such an easy option, then why not just unban me? That logic doesn't make sense to me. But to be clear, again, I never said I should not have been banned. I admitted to making a mistake. What I am asking is to be unbanned, please read what I have been saying this entire time. I also mentioned guilty until proven innocent. But as far as the administrators go, is that actually how they treat all cases? I am just curious about that one, even on a private server, there's no need to them to assume the worst.

Shiamorah, it may not be known to anyone other than myself that it was innocent or malicious. However, does that mean that I shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt? I know it's not up to you guys (this community) to decide whether or not I get unbanned, however, am I guilty until proven innocent in this case? I simply hope that even if I am not unabnned, the Elysium support is more courteous than what I'm seeing here. I do not see how everyone is making that point though, you're the only one to come out with an actual explanation and I respect that. However, there is absolutely no evidence of me buying / selling gold. The only thing that can be found is I joined the guild and a few messages I posted into the guild chat about how joining stopped the spam. I hope chat is logged somewhere for that to be looked into, but otherwise it is simply up to the support team. All I wanted was to raise awareness. If someone had malicious intent and was unbanned, they'll get banned again and not be treated the same. However, if someone who was innocent is being banned and does not get unbanned, that's just a good way to keep people from joining. I have yet to see any point where it is any sort of clear rule violation that I pressed accept on a guild invitation. As for Glenzig, I legitimately believe you cannot comprehend what this thread is about. I don't have much to say to you other than you're clearly misunderstanding what is going on. There were no recruitment messages in the general chat I was in at the time (Ashenvale). Furthermore, I don't care whether or not people feel bad for me, I just wanted a place to see if anyone else was having this issue. I even asked for someone to confirm my suspicions in my first post. Clearly you can't, so why are you here?

I guess it's possible that everyone who joined, other than me, was someone purchasing gold or something similar. However, from talking to some of them, I doubt that's the case and the likelihood of that is extremely low. It's much more likely that those players don't know about the forum or not many want to post, especially after seeing the way someone who mentions it is treated. And yes, I know they reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason, that would also be known as a cop-out. However, it doesn't mean that I specifically broke any terms of service. I never once mentioned it was wrong of them to ban me, I simply asked for it to be reverted. There may be social guilds out there, but there were none in my general chat at the time and I am unaware of any other chat channels that help with recruiting. I am new to this server and I really don't know much about it, and have not played WoW in many years. And you're correct, I mentioned it was my fault in my second post, not my first post. However, this was still long before most of the replies were made, so what is the difference there?

I was never mad about anything. I even started the thread off saying it was clearly the wrong choice. There's an obviously large misunderstanding between my posts and what people are reading, because, clearly, nobody can comprehend that I actually stated I shouldn't have done it. So they are essentially doing something thoughtless as you put it. It may be honest feedback, but it's very indirect. If you can't comprehend that I just wanted to bring attention to a large group of bannings that didn't necessarily need to happen, then why are you here? This was meant to be a thread for others to reply that had the same issue to show that it is an issue. Instead, it is flooded with people looking to insult someone on the internet and I simply don't know why.

Like I mentioned, not everyone has the option to join a guild. I, myself, was one of those poor souls. I didn't have a guild waiting to invite me or anything like that. Maybe I should have messaged in general chat to join any other guild, but I didn't think about that at the time. However, that doesn't even mean someone would invite me to begin with. The logic of having any guild open to join is flawed, especially if the people running them act like the people who have been replying to this thread. If that's the case, why do you want your server to lose players who are simply trying to play and enjoy the game? Legitimately I am curious as to what the thought process is that goes into your replies. What is wrong with bringing attention to something that happened that I think should be reverted? As I said already, if it's making you that upset and it's a waste of time, you have absolutely no obligation to spend your precious time replying to the thread. It's actually that simple.

It's sad the community on here is so bad. If you had an understanding of English, you'd see I said I was curious about whether or not they spammed their own chat and who else had joined. It turned out that nobody was spamming in the guild, it was actually rather quest aside from me talking to a couple others who joined for the same reason. Microdots, if you read my entire post, you'd see my reasoning for joining. However, I'll say it again here. I joined to have the spam invites come to and end. Clenzig, two things to note. Some people may have accepted by accident and not realized what happened or how to leave a guild. You have to remember, not everyone is well versed in the MMO genre. Secondly, which is what happened in my case, is that I simply wanted to avoid the spam. I was curious as to who else may have had the same idea, apparently around 100 players did. I don't blame them for banning someone who is technically advertising a gold spammer, but your solutions are not fully viable either. For instance, you may not have the option to join any other guild very quickly. Maybe nobody will invite you. If you don't have friends or friends online, making your own guild can be a little difficult at the lower levels. Lastly, logging off during my free time to play isn't something I really intended to do. Like I said, in my specific case, I joined out of curiosity and to stop the spam as an immediate solution. It worked fine, I wasn't getting any spam, and I was able to quest for about 15 minutes. Then I was banned. I know this happened to other people and my only goal is to see how many and let our voice be heard, that's the purpose of the forum.

Considering the immense number of bans from this happening, I'm sure it'll take time for them to get through all the ban appeals. I'm just hoping that it's well known that most of them are due to people not wanting to be spam invited, and therefore should have the ban lifted as it's an unfair punishment for simply trying to play in peace.

Well I was unaware of a fix at the time and it wasn't until about 10 minutes before I was banned that I even realized my guild name was visible to everyone. It's been a very long time since I've played WoW. I don't remember all the mechanics of the game and so on. Yes, I realize that it is technically my fault for accepting the invite, but it was the best way I had of getting it to stop as I declined multiple times, so did many others who ended up joining. I don't know what you mean by proving my innocence, I don't even know what site it was (nor would I say as I don't want to advertise for them on purpose). However, I have no knowledge of it even being a legitimate gold selling site. For instance, if my I make a joke guild called www.gold4u.com, which (in this scenario) does not even exist, am I still promoting gold selling and violating some term? I will do all I can to double check the terms of service for Elysium, but I do think this mass banning should be reverted for anyone who was not specifically trying to advertise the gold sellers. I simply wanted to quest in peace. If anyone who works / volunteers for Elysium can give me an update about this, that would be great. Until then, I'll wait for my ban appeal to be read. Does anyone know if you receive an email update or anything once the ban appeal has been looked into? I'd like to know where to check for an update on my account. Edit: I've read the ToS, and this is all I found involving gold selling. " VI. Elysium staff reserves the right to close any account involved in such transaction. " Based on this information, I don't believe I've broken the terms. I still apologize for joining the guild as it does mean I did accidentally advertise for them. However, I don't believe I did anything that requires my account be / stay banned.

I was happily doing the quest CLUCK! as I remembered it existed. Upon completion, I did not receive the egg I was meant to, nor was it on the ground for me to loot. Is there any way of getting this quest reset on my character so I may try again, or any other alternative solution that lets me receive my pet? (Character name is Tuttut, on the PvE server). Thanks!
