Hi! While eventually raiding is good, right now, I run a bit small. Are there any A-EU based grumpy old farts been there-done that guilds out there? Those with foul language/sexist/racist/hate speech/Trumpisms/generally arsehat behaviour sorts are thanked but unwelcome. Basically, just looking for a relaxed group of adults who play legacy because they love the game. Don't need much help at all, but being able to say hello to guildies and just chatter while grinding is good. Fingers crossed :-)

I would just really hope that one of the over-worked volunteers could possibly be assigned to checking for nekkid characters around mailboxes too please. These are the ones sending out the emails. Mostly these poor souls have "normal" names, not of the Dswdgvl variety. And yes, while it is imperative that players report when they have been interrupted by a gold seller, if normal gamers with normal interfaces and normal reasoning processes can figure out where and who, might it not be also possible for a user with higher-value tools available in game? Please? I know that getting bugs fixed and specific aspects of the game environment out are top priority. I thank the Elysium team for all their effort on this. But since the ban hammer hit, there are more of these naked characters sitting at mailboxes all over the map, and it is disheartening. Never ending battle, this one. Might need a different approach to address, as a suggestion, not a criticism :-)

Thank you! Stand tall and proud. Volunteer work is a thankless business in general and you have to have skin as thick as a rhino. But hang tight! The efforts of the staff of Elysium are deeply appreciated and us "normal" folk who just love the original WoW are really really happy we get to keep playing here.

Reasons you *should* make a character on Zeth'Kur
Canukian replied to PaulyPepperoni's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
The point is that peeps can play whichever server they d@mn well wish, as they wish, how they wish, why they wish :-) And that no one has a right to trash their individual reasons for all of the above :-) -

True. We can agree there :-) And shadow in Transcendence still makes me cry but you know... memories are powerful good motivation for playing legacy. And that has to be the best reason for going low pop: you have time to remember :-) -

(a) I love love love MC, as one of my original servers three raiding shadow priests and MT healer of choice even AS shadow out of form; and (b) If I wanted to do srs bznss raiding it sure as heck wouldn't be on a PvP server, now would it, dear. That's just logical. It wouldn't even be on a legacy server but you know, HC raiding is just boring after a decade or so. Peeps playing on low pop servers are special sorts. They don't care, or need, a group for Hogger, or Fizz. They are quite willing to grab a stranger and tag team that higher level who is pissing them off, then break group and blithely go about solo work for the next 6 hours of grind. They don't ask for "DDs for VC" because they know if you are in a lowbie area no one is stupid enough to ask for Dire Maul and only non-legacy placers call it "DDs" and that sort don't know about cc, bis/level/class, the hidden quest at the top of the tower... They sure as the sun rises in the east don't care about who is topping the raid charts in legacy servers. And I am pretty certain there are more peeps who are similar to my version of play than there are those who care about "serious" (ha, serious, can't even write that without almost laughing at folk who think "serious" goes with raid in legacy play) raiding. Enjoy being "serious". I'm off to be a filthy casual again :-) -
Same. Thanks, all you volunteers who give us something we really missed. Raise your glass: Here's to those who love you well and those who don't can go to... Here's to you!

I switched from Darrowshire to Zeth'Kur and while this is not saying anyone else should, it has been an intensely enjoyable switch. The players (even Barrens chat) are super; there are Alliance low levels doing amazing things in Horde low level hunting grounds (A warrior and paladin, level 8s, south of Razor Hill in the Keep... pathing exactly like mobs, waiting for people to learn they are not real mobs, never striking first... just excellent); lots of cooperation; and PvP being done properly, for the most part (always a few idiots, but we just think their family life was truly dysfunctional so we let them enjoy their "fun"). Lower pop? Yep, sure thing. More than enough ears dropping for silly collection quests, lots of room to spread out your skill ups for gathering skills, enemy faction dodging great fun through contested areas. All good. Mostly it's the people difference that is keeping me there. My faction mates heal, drive-by buff, peel off extra mobs, everything the original release of WoW built in a community. And it's that community that I think most of us old farts came to a legacy server to find once again. Zeth'Kur has it. -
And we called Dire Maul by which part of it we were doing, just like SM-Armoury, or Cath. Or Maradon. EU servers used different abbreviations. I never saw it called VC until I hit a USA server. Because, really... why would a level 18 be wanting to go to the Maul?

How to use 2-step Authentication w/o having a phone
Canukian replied to TTL's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I'm sorry if this has been explained elsewhere. New here and getting lost in information overload, hope folk understand. If I wanted to use 2FA on my iOS device, which is a good one to get? By good I mean it would be relatively idiot proof, is reliable, can use on both my desktop and laptop installs. I don't mind paying for a good app, but free okay. And thanks for understanding I am not stupid, just new :-) And for the help. -
That would be great! I couldn't find anything so I took a deep breath and posted. I'll send a whisper in game and add you to my friends' list once we have spoken. Maybe I won't be too exhausted after a late shift this evening and can pop into the Tavern and say hello IC :-)

Hi folks. Just wanted to gauge interest for a weekly RP event (with all the standard dire warnings about non-RPers being, well non-RPers (so polite) ). Tales 'n Ales sort of event. And I don't know if this already happens, but a cross-faction tournament in Gurubashi, complete with guards, healers, MCs etc That sort of thing could be annual, because it takes a few months to set up and is incredibly time consuming. Winner of each faction has the "right" to claim the title "Strongest of the (Horde/Alliance)" Any interest?

Total newbie feeling overwhelmed >.<
Canukian replied to Enen's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Dear Newcomer: Welcome to a wonderful game :-) You're learning curve probably won't be as steep as mine because you are lucky: you have a ton of tools and resources available to you. So many, in fact, that yes, you can get overwhelmed. Addons for Priest: Serenity. Get it on your first priest and learn to use it. Get Decursive. Learn to use it early. Get oRA and Clique. That's for when you raid. I'm sure others will have their own preferences, but those, with downranking healing spells, if about the best extras I have used. I'm sure others, who are better than me, might have a different opinion, but this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I didn't heal Naxx. And I was shadow spec heals for raiding. Not a brag there, others have been there and done more :-) But wait... first priest? Yep, run two. It helps your healing to practice different specs without having to pay the costs of respec. That gets prohibitively expensive. Yep, it will slow you down, but you will learn. And while you're at it, roll a tank, so you learn what damage hits when and how. Makes your healing better. Get into battlegrounds soon and often. Healing on the run, under stress, and fast makes you a better PvE healer. Find some nice tank or DPS to tag along after and keep them alive. They, if they know what they're doing, will try to keep you alive if they can. Pocket healers are priceless. Learn from them. Most of all, relax. Healing is great, but all this theorycraft stuff can play mind games with you. Min-max later, like after you get your mount. Read about it, sure, learn it, but don't sweat the small stuff. And it is all small stuff while learning. You will make mistakes. People will yell at you, tell you that you suck, will lay there while you run back into instances solo and mob-dodge respawns so you can rezz them. Sigh, smile, and hope they stand in the fire so you can ignore them. Play this song until you can blithely heal, hum it and keep on healing through the worst Chromie has to throw at you, and most of all... have fun. Welcome to the World of Warcraft :-) The Priest Song
