As I already mentioned, I play on retail. The guys at Blizzard thought the same way you do and instead of just merge the realms, they created this crossrealm shit we have right now. I don't know how the realm connection works exactly, but AFAIK it's technically not a merge. I saw the discussions about this in the official WoW forums back then and besides a really small minority (1. : The players who give a shit about their server name; 2: The players who like to play on a dead server), most of the players wanted some kind of merge. What Blizzard did wasn't enough btw. http://www.wowprogress.com/realms/rank/eu/lang.de These are the german realms. Look at the lower end. Almost no mythic raiding, because guilds can't find enough members to raid with 20 people every week.

We will lose thousands of players, if we wait for 2 or 3 months. Not everyone is willing to spend his free time for a game, that he can't play most of the time because of server issues. Do they? I'm playing WoW on retail and players are complaining for YEARS now, that Blizzard doesn't merge their servers. I don't see a problem here. It's all about the communication. If the new server comes fast and with the same timeline as Elysium, it can be officially announced as a temporary solution for the queue problem.

Okay, that's true! But on the other hand, it's very depressing to be muted for such a long time. This is an MMORPG and not everyone is no-lifing to 60 as fast as possible. Some people will need days to hit level 15. Many wouldn't give a shit about that, but don't forget the socialisers in this community. They do exist.

Bullshit. My character on Elysium is level 15 and I'm not going to switch. Other players reached much higher levels. All the players who really couldn't play since launch will switch on a new server and that's a good thing.

O-okay... But Elysium-PvP has a player cap of ~11k and there are still 4-12 thousand players sitting in the queue. There IS a demand for a 4th server!

This attitude fucked up the retail servers. If there are too many players for one fresh server, they should open a second one. When the hype is over, we will see if they are both healthy or need to be merged.

You could wait for a week or two and then join the server after the problems got solved.

Most of your problems could be solved by releasing a 4th server. Is this really broken? I didn't do such a thing in vanilla, but AFAIK it is completely normal to get 100% of the exp, even if you get help by a level 60 that is not in your party.

I logged in WoW about 30 or maybe 40 minutes ago and had over 3000 people before me in the queue. Now my position is ~ 400 (5 minutes ago it was 970) edit: 350.

You mean there is a healthy amount of players in the human starting area, so new players don't need 2+ hours to hit level 5? Btw at 6 am GMT+1 on a server with a huge amount of european population!
