Elysium has 5K queue because people just don't know about the new server - easy fix
FrozenFire replied to Zachb34's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
People know about the new server, they just don't want to lose their name/progress on Elysium. This is evidenced by the fact that everyone is asking for transfers. People would rather have a que than lose their name or week of progress. It's not an information issue, it's a player issue. -
Unable to connect after authentication and handshaking. Realm is ok.

No Ely to Zeth Transfers - Reason?
FrozenFire replied to Rouce's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Glenzig may not have the most eloquent responses (love you whoever you are) but he's not wrong. Even though Pottu, who is a Senior GM, has said countless times that transfers will not happen. A lot of you still are waiting on this idea of "server transfers" because "maybe they will change their mind" or "we don't care what he says it NEEDS to happen". They won't, that's not how this works. If you want to be part of the problem, then by all means, continue to complain that transfers need to happen. Continue to complain about ques, that you are inevitably causing by your inability to realize the bigger picture. If you want to stay on Elysium because you have a lot of progress there, or have made friends who don't want to switch, then stay. No one is forcing you to leave. But nobody has made so much progress that it can't be easily redone on the new server. Elysium PvP hasn't even been up a full week as of this post. If you really want to play on Zeth'Kur, but can't redo less than a week of leveling, and are demanding/holding out for transfers, Vanilla is NOT for you. Vanilla is a huge grind, and you have to ask yourself if you would rather endure that grind without the worry of ques getting in your way. Or exacerbate that grind with overpopulation and long que times. Either way, don't complain about the problem if you aren't willing to be part of the solution. And most importantly, try to enjoy the game. P.S. Rouce you think you are helping your friends by having all these bags and your professions ready for them. But if they aren't playing because of ques and they want a less competitive leveling environment, then you are just contributing to their lack of enjoyment playing the game by peer pressuring them into playing with you on Elysium. Make the switch and enjoy the game with your friends, as it's intended. -
No Ely to Zeth Transfers - Reason?
FrozenFire replied to Rouce's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
The devs don't have to explain their reasoning, especially when it's pretty obvious. If you are level 30+ then you shouldn't leave Elysium in the first place, you should stay unless you specifically want to start over. Zeth'Kur isn't for people with high levels it's for people who haven't been able to play Elysium at all because of ques, and for people who haven't got very high level because of how absolutely packed the server has been. If you wan't to play on Zeth'kur that bad, then do so. Elysium PvP has been up for almost a week now, but even that isn't too long. You and anybody else can easily catch up on Zeth'Kur, especially because currently there are no que times. People are too attached to their level 20 characters and their name that they reserved. And if you are that attached, then by all means, stay on Elysium PvP. But you or anyone else can't complain about Elysium and then refuse to switch servers because you can't get a transfer. If everyone asking for a transfer just sucked it up and switched to Zeth'Kur, then both servers would probably be sitting around 10k with little to no ques. -
So the new realm did nothing to lessen the Elysium queue times
FrozenFire replied to Zachb34's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Zeth'Kur still took over 5000 people who would be in que for Elysium. It's in a no way a failure. However, it would easily be hitting around 10k if people haven't got so attached to characters they have spent less than a few days on. You can't complain that the new server did nothing, while also contributing to the reason it has less players than expected because people don't want to reroll their level 20s. -
My bad, I forgot you always got to include caveats or people lose their ваууing minds. Yes, for 4 whole months after the launch of vanilla, while Dire Maul didn't exist Deadmines was referred to as DM. But as soon as Dire Maul was released, everyone abbreviated Deadmines, VC. This was to make sure there wasn't any confusion as to what dungeon you wanted a group for. Some people still preferred to call Deadmines DM out of habit, or because they were too low level/new to understand why everyone called Deadmines VC. But if you had any ounce of decency, you just called Deadmines VC or just typed out "Deadmines" as to not confuse people. It's a simple concept really.

People started calling Deadmines DM during WotLK when Dire Maul became pretty much irrelevant. But anyone who played WoW through 2004-2007 will tell you, Deadmines was very commonly referred to as VC as to not confuse it with Dire Maul. If you want to confuse people by calling Deadmines DM, then by all means be my guest. But anyone who claims that it's not VC is wrong, and is just making it more confusing than it needs to be.

The most annoying thing as well, is if by chance you do get in the server, it has 11.5k players on it. This causes a pretty hefty delay in any actions you do, as well as make it so mobs/players phase in front of your eyes. The mob view distance is also so low, that by the time it loads in it's already dead. That along with the fact that all 11.5k players are squished into the level 1-30 zones. This makes it so even the people who do miraculously get in have the most frustrating experience imaginable. The only thing that has made the server bearable is the amazing community all dancing at crossroads, and doing everything we can to distract ourselves from the abhorrent experience that is trying to level right now. I know it's already being considered, but I really do hope they open a second server, and maybe drop the population cap to 8-9k where it seems the most stable.

Yet another Elysium server thread, a note on server stability.
FrozenFire replied to FrozenFire's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I definitely think there is a player base for PvE, but the Nostalrius PvE server is relatively fresh and it isn't hardly ever hitting cap. Anyone who wants an Elysium PvE server should really give Nostalrius PvE a shot. I think there is more of an outcry for another PvP server identical to the fresh one now, because Nostalrius PvP was already pretty far along in their timeline. This would also allow for an easy merge of players if in a month or two, both servers weren't near cap. They could even use the same database for the servers, restricting names available on the second server if they are taking on the first one. People really need to just see this as a way to take the load off of the Elysium PvP server, so that people can actually play, even if only temporary. -

Yet another Elysium server thread, a note on server stability.
FrozenFire posted a topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
When players were sitting AFK at the login screen, effectively only allowing 7-9k people to actually play on the server, it was very stable, but still had plenty of people to group with and quest with. Nostalrius and now Elysium is known for it's servers being even more populated than the speculated blizzlike cap, and no one wants that to change including me. But I think 7-9k people is plenty, and when it gets to 10-11k it becomes completely unplayable and is going down constantly. Not sure if that is the GMs doing, or sheer amount of players, but it's still worth bringing up when the server goes down twice unannounced after they fixed it so people can't afk. With that being said so that everyone understands the issues, I really think it's in the best interest of the entire community to open a second Elysium PvP server at least temporarily. Make it have the exact same timetable as the first even if it might be a few days to a week behind at this point but I don't think that's a big deal. And have both servers capped around 8k. This will allow spillover into a second server, but also allow a merge of the two if a lot of people jump ship once the hype dies, which they most likely will. The caps can also be increased later on if the population is still very demanding, and then have each be it's own entity. I really appreciate everything Elysium has done to please the community, and you guys are doing a wonderful job. This will definitely be a controversial topic over the course of the next few weeks, and this isn't the first thread about this, nor will it be the last. But I think it's important for people to see the second server as a necessity at least until the hype dies down, and open the possibility for a merge with the first server if the population demands cannot be met.
