  1. It actually began after the PvP patch and cheap mount fiasco. That's when it became a total shitfest. I haven't played since and am surprised it's still a gank fest on here.
  2. Realm has been on a steady decline since.
  3. Using a VPN will probably fix the issue. If you really need to be on right now, then look into that option.

    Disconnected From Server

Seems to be a wide spread issue. Not much you can do right now.
  5. I looked over on Reddit and apparently even people from Light's Hope are getting disconnected, and someone mentioned Project Ascension as well.
  6. Just logged in and noticed the same thing. Played yesterday night and it was fine. It seems to be lagging us out. I'm noticing latency will skyrocket in the thousands, then either disconnect or go back to normal for a few seconds until it does it again. I'm in Ottawa Ontario. Maybe it's only affecting Ontario.

    I lost my pet...

Your pet earns training points when he levels up, as well as when his Loyalty Level goes up, although Loyalty can't surpass 6, so after that, it's solely earned by your pet levels. When taming new pets, you might actually be in the negative training points, but it all evens out to 300 training points once you're 60 with Loyalty 6. Note that the Pet Trainer(Not to be confused by Hunter Trainer) only trains basic skills(Stamina, Armor, Resistances, Growl), and when you do train a new skill at the Pet Trainer, your pet won't have the skill yet. You need to open the Beast Training spell, and teach the spell to your pet from there. It's actually really clunky, especially that your pet will often be 2-3 levels below you, so even if you can train a new pet ability at the Pet Trainer, you won't be able to teach it to your pet till your pet also reaches the required level. You also don't need to train each Rank of a skill. So in theory, you could grind to 60, not visit a pet trainer, then at 60, learn all the max Ranks right away. The Pet Trainer can reset your pet training points for pretty cheap, so don't be afraid to try things out, although this is mostly relevant later on when more skills become available. To teach your pet special abilities(like Claw, Prowl etc), you need to tame a pet that has that ability, use it, and eventually you will see a message telling you you've learned a new ability. At that point, the skill will be in your Beast Training tab, and teachable to future pets of that family. This will require you to store your pet at the stable, while you tame another one for its skill. I recommend http://www.companioncodex.com/ This contains Species Catalog with all the types of beasts along with the skills they can learn, and a Bestiary containing a list of all beasts in the world and what skill/rank they have.

    I lost my pet...

In the General Tab of your spell book, there is a Beast Training spell. That is where all of your pet skills are found. The entire way to learn new pet skills is actually not really obvious if you've never played a Hunter before so I recommend you do a little research on how it works. I also noticed that whenever I learn a new rank of a spell(noticed this specifically with Growl), the 'Auto-cast' won't always work, so if you notice your pet not holding aggro, Disable/Re-enable Auto cast to make sure it works properly.

    Leveling after 1.4

Notice how you scored 123 kills ? Stonetalon is horde dominated. So I'm gonna go ahead and assume that your faction got the better of the exchange. PvP is always fun when you're winning. Even if you aren't completing quests, the satisfaction of beating down the opponent truncates not questing. So all in all, major lack of objectivity in your argument, other than the suggestion to quest somewhere else. That is a valid point. But other than that, it's you saying you had a great time wrecking alliance in a horde dominated zone. Well, ya, no shit.
  10. It's always going to feel like that seeing as you don't notice alliance characters around you. This isn't to say there isn't possibly more Horde than Alliance, but a player's perspective will always be skewed because it's much easier to notice the other faction than your own, especially when PvP is everywhere.

    Exploit

You're terribly uninformed. And none of the devs have replied, so I think people are still waiting for answers. Ironically enough, Shenna posted yesterday how 'This is like it was back in Vanilla with all the PvP action', clearly omitting(purposely I imagine) how the mount change didn't occur until 1.12 in Vanilla.

    World PvP

Vanilla's timeline was different, so more people were maxed out by the time the PvP patch came out, which was 6 months after launch, not 2 months like on Nighthaven. The average player is also smarter now, and exploits mechanics more than during Vanilla, making it easier for 2-3 players to take key points. Let's not forget the population. Nighthaven has an unrealistic population(To Vanilla standards), so you're a lot more likely to have Mr.FlightPathCamper than on Vanilla, and just overall a lot more likely to run into someone who wants to kill you. All in all, I can't say the current state of the server is something I've ever experienced 15 years ago.
  13. You definitely can't rely on guards to accomplish much, regardless of where you are. I remember ridiculous guard spawns when I played Vanilla, but I haven't seen this on here. To be fair, the guard spawn rate on Vanilla eventually became pretty ridiculous, so I'm glad it's not like that. But ya it's way too easy right now on Nighthaven to take over a town or a flight master. Menethil Harbor has been constantly camped. Yesterday, the flight master was killed over and over again, with virtually no push back from the guards. They were even able to enter the inn unchecked. More alliance eventually showed up, but they left once the horde were dead, and I'm sure the camping activity resumed shortly after.

    Why are Alliance such pussies?

For sure goes both ways. But, you're not Alliance, so obviously you don't get ganked by Horde. I've never seen so many hostile players, and I've always played on PvP servers. Right now, both sides are purposely patrolling around every zone looking to kill anything.
  15. I don't think it's been blown out of proportion at all. In fact, I'm really surprised that this thread is only 2 page long, with most of it being the same people replying. Virtually no one uses these forums, and most players casually leveling probably don't even know that this change hit in 1.4 instead of later on, so they're completely in the dark. I'm certain that if more players knew that a percentage of the playerbase saved 800g on their mount, there would be an outrage, but most don't even know. They will hit level 60, and farm their 1k gold, never knowing that some of their brethren only paid a fraction for their mount.
  16. I don't really understand where you're getting at. I mean ya, ganking happens regardless of epic mounts or no epic mounts, or no mounts at all. But choosing to make the mount change not only wayyy earlier than what Blizzard originally did, but also at the same time as a PvP patch, is obviously going to cause more issues than not. The only argument I'v seen so far basically boil down to 'Whatever deal with it' which I suppose is one way to look at it. It just seems super arbitrarily to make this change so early when other features like Thorium Point/Raventusk quest hubs won't see life till later, even though they have a much lesser impact on overall experience.
  17. Your use of sweetie and doll is so condescending. Does it make you feel better ? And it is a legit complaint. Epic riding is always a major element when people remember Vanilla WoW. It's a huge accomplishment and very rewarding when you finally get it. If for you it's insignificant, then that's fine, but I don't think you'd be the majority. A lot of players got it for cheaper, so not much of an accomplishment, and the rest of the players will need to farm for it, while feeling gypped the entire time. It's a lose lose situation. When you try to level, and all you see are swarms of players on their epic mounts ganking everything, it makes the entire thing feel even worse. Like not only are they parading their cheap epic, but they're ganking you on it. Make you feel like you really got screwed over.
  18. The forums are here for that. To argue our opinions. How about you take your own advice and just not read this thread ? It's obvious that some things affect authenticity and experience more than others. Chat bans are a way to deal with major gold spam. I'm sure they would rather not have to do it, but it's a 'pick your poison' kind of situation. This mount change isn't. It can't be anything other than a clear lack of vision.
  19. How do they not ? They strive for authenticity. Fairness. True experience. This defeats this entire premise. I understand that Nighthaven is on fast progression mode, but they still had no reason not to make this change until they release Naxx. There was zero reason to do this other than give a huge advantage to fresh 60s. But that really isn't a good reason.
  20. That doesn't make him a troll. It just makes him mad. But I understand that you're not exactly intellectually gifted.
  21. Allowing people to buy mounts at a major rebate will stagnate the realm seeing as you removed the need to farm. So it seems super counter intuitive. Sure, the rest of us will have to do it the hard way, but feeling sour the entire time. Right.
  22. That's all you hear because you're an ignorant individual. You couldn't care less about the grand scheme of things. The authenticity of an experience. Not everyone jumps from projects to projects leveling to 60.
  23. So there you have it. People got rewarded for hitting 60 faster than others. Is that really the premise of Elysium ? Hit 60 fast so you can get bonuses ? I know you think your reply is cute, but you pretty much stated exactly what the problem with this change is.
  24. You're just throwing numbers out. While I agree that people level up quicker now than they did during Vanilla, I would definitely argue that on most vanilla servers, by September 2006(which is when the mount change was added) a higher percentage of the playerbase was level 60 than on Nighthaven right now. Most people paid full price ? Cmon man. Look around. A week or two ago barely anyone had their epic riding mount. Now you don't see any level 60 without it.

    Riding skill before patch

Blizzard did not implement this change until 1.12.1. The fact the people knew beforehand or not is irrelevant at that stage of the game, unless you're a late comer. But certainly the majority of the playerbase had purchased the full priced riding skill by September '06. All in all, it mostly just served as a way for players to be able to purchase other mounts for cheaper. I don't imagine a lot of players would have planned on sticking to their level 40 mounts until the last few months of Vanilla just so they can get cheaper riding. But unfortunately, that isn't the reality on here. People are still leveling up. People are still fresh 60s, trying to scrap gold together. So when you allow them to buy a skill for 200g instead of 900g, then it has a huge impact. Huge oversight by the devs. Super unfortunate.
