hi, im new on nost/ely since a week and so to introduce myself within my very first paragraph on this forum well i basically started wow 8 years ago on tbc, i reached 2.2 as awar/rdruid (AvA tbc), 1.85 as spellret/sp (AT tbc), and then on AT wotlk i reached 2.6 3v3 as awar, 2.5 3v3 as pwar, and 2.2 3v3 as rpal. The previous sentence might seem like im bragging to some; i see it as i myself feel more welcomed to listen to someone when i have at least a small idea of what that person’s about you know, so thats the reasoning
what motivated me to come write a topic was right when the 4th realm launched and that i read “Zeth’Kur”. I know how hard it is for community members to build a meaningful unifying name for themselves; for the nostalrius community to see the new “elysium” name thrown around everywhere was already a harmful transition in itself yet reasonable, and so i believe that zeth’kur should be renamed “Elysium 2” to not further harm the community’s feeling of identity which is vital for its longevity (*that realm is pvp as well and has the same timeline as the current elysium realm)
now regarding the incoming nostalrius database wipe, whether the nostalrius and elysium teams either sold out to blizzard OR got threatened by blizzard; i still think that officially lying to hundreds of thousands of players telling them that the realm transfer token feature was broken rather than intentionally disabled, well i think that communication decision cannot be justified, and unfortunately harmed the respect/trust factor
to sum this up putting myself in the shoes of the original and huge nostalrius community (rather than from an actual newcomer's pov), i personally strongly recommend to rename “Anathema” and “Darrowshire” as “Old Elysium (PvP)” and “Old Elysium (PvE)”. I acknowledge that regardless of everything this topic still strictly stands as my own opinions; do not hesitate people to elaborate whether you agree with these points or not!
ps: this forum's current auto-paragraph system prevents proper paragraphing
