wish, that there was a vanilla server with better team thinking and high population. There are servers, which makes improvements. sadly, they do not have the core needed for overall quality and that for better population ... till then ... well ... there always will be topics like that, you will have to count with that ... I think that listening to community is crucial for project survival ... I have met several projects, (and not only WoW projects), which were awesome by its thoughts, but over the ego and the way, how the owners asserted only and only their opinions, ended very quickly. Not telling this fate it seems to be happening here, but in general, well, who knows. As you can see, community, or at least part of it WANTS theese changes. They are minor changes, nothing that would really affect the gameplay. The truth is, that Vanilla was in many many many ways imperfect. And second truth is, that later expansions are kind of wierd about setting, and "too much OP" in many cases. But the improvements in gameplay, they are really at their place. So in my opinion? The best would be the old vanilla, with not oversized world, but with the gameplay features, that were so much popular ... Speaking of Meeting stones, speaking of Dual talents, Speaking of such things as low level quest filters (but in this case, I think that even with client modifications it is not doabe) , but speaking of guild bank, and such features ....

I am for this implementation too. The stuggle of going on foot across two continents is horrible, especially for <40L characters, where they are slow without a mount and they do not have gryphon masters unlocked (seriously, try to do shadowfang keep as alliance, you will spend at least 20m on the way, and if you will have the idea of going through shortcut via Durotar Zeppelins, count with another 20m being reskilled.... I know about your intention to have vanilla as it was back days, but it doesn't mean, it is always a good decision for gameplay. ... and now I do not speak only this one, but other mechanisms which were mentioned here and refused many times ... (GB - doable via commands, dual talents - doable via commands (yes, we tried) and so on and so on ...)

Just to correct you .. HC RP servers are doable. But not for that amount of players. There must be almost 100% supervision, if players act like they should act at HC RP server. Anyway, for casual RP server ... maybe it is doable, still, I am afraid, there will be an extra team for that needed. Anyone, who already has experience from RP servers. or for expample some HC "Dragons lair" players (in here, I don't know, if the dragons lair is the name in english for that, this is a direct translation from my language, it is the spoken game played by a table, with game master/story teller, you also play your character, you say what you want to do, you throw dices for chances and so on ... )... The core things we need to define, is "What level of RP will be set" (how casual it will be) and What will be the tollerance for non-RP actions near Roleplaying characters. And the balance between RP and normal content. Then, there should be definitely a way, how to transfer characters between realms. I dont think, I will want to exp up the same character twice just to play on realm, where I can MAYBE play RP from time to time ... And about the language ... I think it WILL be a problem ... English for normal gaming is quite sufficient, there is dozen on situations you need to handle in normal gameplay, what you ask for, what you explain to others ... probably the most difficult english is used in boss tactics problems .... but in general, you can play with a very limited vocabulary and still be able to communicate. But for RP realms, you need andvanced language skill to be able explayin yourself on specific and sometimes hardly explainable topics ... and that can do just a few people (compared to server population)

Oh, that thing I have almost foorgotten ...RP requires fluent english. This is international server, where english native speakers makes only a small % of community. Other people can write about basic things, but I really do not think, that everyone will be able to write about some historic things, or forfessional things (like I do not think that 2 non-native speakers will be able to speac on topic like processes used in smelting ores and processing it into weapons and armor) - just an example .... these are complicated topics, that people maybe can uderstand in their native language, but they definitely do not know the terms in english. Any RP like that would take very long time, while players will be writing things twice (or actially three times), once into the google translator, once into the game and once the other player once again into the translator to his native language...

To be honest, I dont like those massive "RP" realms, where RP is only a little part of the game ... if you want to feel the true RP, you need a real HC RP realm, with bunch of rules, very detailed lore specified for the age you are playing right now, and so on, and so on ... I know what I am talking about, was on HC RP scene for about 3 years. The other thing is, that mostlly kids playing in here, which fact puts the quality down a lot. And it is not game for everyone ... People has to understand, that RP is not about yaaaay, gona kill some biiiiig badie. It is about life, mostly chat-based and small roles are mmore than needed for realistic world ... farmer, woodcutter, bard, Physician, Bartender .. And really much more. Next thing is, that you need a serious core changes .. like hunger/thirst buffs, door system (open/close), fall change (not just ratio from config, but you need to rewrite the detection range), and then, there are some other client changes, like new proffesions like joinery (woodwork), alchemy (two directions like high alchemy (lab alchemy) and nature alchemy (like countryside people "alchemy") and so on, you need custom mobs, you need custom titles, you need custom reputations, you need in some cases custom maps, you might need custom models from higher expansions .... and much more ... And most importantly, you need to organize events, evolve lore, and check the situation, you need to cooperate with players so they have the chance to evolve the lore. The team must be a part of the game... The other thing is, that this can be doable only with wotlk expansion, as on others, there are big limits of what can be edited in client (for pre-wotlk are not fan-made tools because noone really worked on them back then, and for post-wotlk expansions, there are limitations form blizzard, new coding, more complicated client ...) Whole this would need a separate project team. You have no idea, how much work it takes to acheieve believably real world. And for well semi RP realm ... the truth is, that this ends the same everywhere ... noone is roleplaying. Everyone is farming in the different corner of the world. Everyone wants to be the most baddass multikill harvester ... and that always ends in Dungeon or on PVP battlefield ... whch has nothing to do with RP ... So for me ... no Players will not be disciplined enough to handle real RP and the team would need like 20 more GMs, game Mods and developers to make it.... (seriously, in our country, there are small HC RP realms, played on one locked map, where there are like 5-10 server team for comunity with like 250ACCs in total with max 40ppl in peaks, and some of the regular players are coordinated with team like storytellers with extended competence.... Nothing really doable, of there will be several thousands people logged in and half of them will not know, what actually RP is and for RP situations, they will run (in better case) or ask you a question, what the hell are you doing, followed by duel spam or running and jumping around ...

Hey, this guy is right. I definitely do not think, that they have completely new core, they have to be beased on some existing project. If it is MaNGOS: GNU GPL, Licence for MaNGOS Zero here: http://docs.getmangos.com/en/latest/contributing/code/license.html#terms-and-conditions-for-copying-distribution-and-modification If it is some crazy version of Arc EMU: http://arcemu.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16520 and from there GNU Affero GPL https://www.gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.html If it is some crazy backported version of TrinityCore (didn't find any project, but heard rumors about something like that really existed), it is also definitely under GNU GPL If it is cMaNGOS, also GNU GPL https://github.com/cmangos/mangos-wotlk#readme So, Like that ... I haven't found any other Emus, but ... add them, if someone knows... Anyway, everything is under GNU GPL, so if Nostalrius have not built his core from scratch, they have no rights to ask for stopping using it. Period. @Zamamee
