What is .wr? Essential for the game or can it be removed?

Weird to say the least. I've tried every possible fix talked about both here and all over the net. Including completely deleting the game and reinstalling. Still same issue ever since signing up and starting to play last Wednesday.

I do have a couple low lvl chars on Nost PvE. Nothing above lvl 5-6. Main char is lvl 14 on Elysium PvP. I do not have multiple accounts on one realm. Started to create another the other day to try an install on a separate comp, but nixed that once I realized I'd have to lvl something to 10 just to test chat.

Gottcha. done. Ok, had it give me a hard time for a sec taking my PW but it just went through and am now in que.

Not sure what you mean by both of us needing to delete my file. I just saved my old info above and will cut/paste/replace it now with what you listed and add my account name, which is XXX. Looks like que is about 3K so it will be a bit before we know if any of it worked.

Ok, as you can see I am running all settings maxxed. As far as Addons I am only running Bartender2, Questie, and Xperl.

Yep, been having this problem for days as Ellipsea knows. I can use Say/Yell/Whisper/ and Party with no problems. However, any "world" channels such as Trade/General/Guild/Guild Recruitment etc I can see, but can not interact with. Here is the entirety of my current Config.wtf file... Yeah, pretty old at this point. Gonna try installing on a completely separate computer and see if anything is different. Actually, that won't work. I'd have to lvl a character to 10 for access anyways. Dooh!

Just tried that as well and get the 'type /help for a list of a few commands' . I also did some digging last night and found this, which I tried as well and still no luck. I can't wait to eventually figure it out. Any bets it's from not pressing one button somehow? lol smh On the Wowwiki at the bottom for "Chat Channel Troubleshooting" I tried fix #1 and #6 as well. Both to no avail.

Varied pending on if I have a bunch of stuff lined up close or running around doing oddball stuff. I often get side tracked find myself just looking and remembering how the game used to be and how much it really has changed. As long as you aren't going for any "world firsts" then just go at whatever pace you want and take it all in.

I hope so too. I just also noticed Guild chat is accessible as well. I can see everything but can't interact in any way. So say/yell/party/and whispers work. However, trade/general/guild/etc do not.

Still no change and not working even with deleting the entire folder and re-unzipping and running the client. Hopefully it eventually starts working at some point but I'm not gonna complain. Vanilla WoW for free, I am grateful! Thanks again for your help with this.

I saw that post as well. I just tried your suggestion to leave all channels and reload and still nothing. Can still speak/yell/whisper others but can't speak in Trade/General. That's with no addons whatsoever. So weird. Will try a full reinstall and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried each step you mentioned and still to no avail. I completely removed all addons from the "addon folder" so nothing except original Blizz stuff is in there. After deleting that chat file and checking the addons.txt , went ahead and deleted the WTF and WDB folders as well. Restarted the game, entered world, and still can't interact with Trade or General. the /leave & /join (channel) still does not work either. Any other ideas come to mind or am I probably looking at a total reinstall as the next step? Not a big deal but of course would like to avoid if possible. Thanks in advance.

Seen one earlier in Crossroads too. He had himself wedged under a tent by the flight path glitching and moving but staying in one stop. Was there for over an hour as I was questing.
