elysium has 8,000 players at peak and anathema has maybe 1200... during the night it has 600 while elysium has 5,300. will you guys fix this? or allow character transfers to different realms?

so i'm new to vanilla- but not to bc. on my fresh level 10 night elf hunter, i got my pet, and the first thing i did was go to a meat vender and buy food to feed it with ( like i did in burning crusade ). however, the pet didnt take the food i bought it, and instead it made me eat it. so, therefore, its not possible to feed your pet consumable meat, and only meat that drops off of mobs? or is there an alternative / trick ? thank you.
