On Darrowshire you see constant spam from gold sellers and if I remember rightly they are selling 100G for something silly like 3 euros now. My question is this: Given Darrowshire is only a month old, and you can’t transfer characters from elsewhere, the nost core got binned. How the hell have these people got setup with gold reserves so quickly?

As per the subject please don’t be so eager to lock threads, especially on the suggestion forum. As admin you took the time to read my post and reply, which is awesome. That’s all I wanted. You disagreed with me, and gave your reasons why. Top job, thank you. But why lock the thread and end the discussion? This is your server and your word is law here, I wasn’t about to start giving you abuse because you didn’t like my idea? Closing the thread like that does however discourage me from posting any further suggestions here. Instead of you telling me no which is fine, I feel like I was told to f*ck off. In the end it’s your forum, your rules of course. This is merely a suggestion. So let’s say someone hacks my account, vendors all my gear, empties my bank and steals all my gold. The scumbag. I assume this person now uses either the in game mail system or player trade to get his ill-gotten gains to his/her own account in order to sell/use later? Doesn’t all this leave a paper trail a dev or admin could trace? Not only leading back to the source of villainy but potentially a lot of people who have also purchased gold from said villain as well? I understand of course that these people have multiple accounts and investigations like this require incredible time investments, and our devs are busy enough keeping the servers running and fixing bugs etc to want to get involved in policing like this. However couldn’t some sort of volunteer service be setup for this kind of work? We see recruitment threads for Devs and QA etc… why not a GM team for each server? I’m not talking about settling player disputes etc, just combating the constant gold spam and account theft that we see in chat and on the forums on a daily basis. With some good policing and a little time these guys could be stopped. It really wouldn’t take long for them to give up and go somewhere else once there accounts containing gold stashes start getting shut down. I would happily volunteer my time to a service like this, the community on Elysium is incredible and it’s a shame to see it spoiled by a minority who could be stopped so easily. Regards PeterG

Sigh OK. 2FA then. Yes it's a great idea and I am all in favour of them bringing it to Elysum for those who want to use it. Fine work by the devs. It's a great safe gaurd for your account. However this discussion was not meant to be about protecting your individual account but stopping the thieves from trying to steal it in the first place. 2FA only prevents/lowers account theft if everyone uses it, or at least the large majority. There are countless threads on these forums about 2FA and yet most people don't bother. Many call them lazy or stupid etc... sadly this is the way of the world and I do not believe you or I can change that. So I didn't try. 2FA would be a massive help here if they made it mandatory. Not my decision, not the point of this thread... The actual point of this thread is to take measures to reduce the amount of gold spamming, if these people cannot advertise their goods they cannot sell them. If they cannot sell them, what's the point in stealing them... you get the idea. You want to buy a house alarm to stop people breaking into your house. Awesome. I want to make it so the thieves can't sell stolen stuff so there is no point breaking into anyone's house.

I was not complaining.. I was offering up a suggestion for a solution. Stating a fact does not make me rude or ungrateful. Create a new character now on Darrowshire yourself and see how long it takes before the gold spam whispers start. It's instant. Likewise stand in any capital city for more than two or three minutes and you can see it in general chat. It's been like this for the last few weeks now. I am trying to help, which is the whole point of this forum.

1. I appreciate it's free, and I am happy they provide it. Read my original post and I am volunteering my own time to help deal with the issue if that's a viable option. 2. I'm not concerned about the security of my account but more the general unpleasantness gold selling creates, the spam, the stolen accounts of other players, the whole pay to win scenario. It goes against what Elysium is trying to be. I did not come here to bitch and complain but to try and offer a solution to a problem that everyone can see, but as I've said already not everyone cares about.

I'm sure the devs work very hard as it is, and I appreciate this is a free service. However allowing these gold sellers to run wild is more than an inconvenience. It compromises player security and gives people the impression the servers are unpoliced and they can do whatever they like. It's probably creating far more work for the dev team dealing with all the hacked accounts than it would be to go after these people and make the servers a place to difficult for them to operate from.

..and sagefish. I believe they were orginally added by blizz in a later patch to the one currently running and are therefore planned for re-release at the correct time. (not sure exactly when, sorry)

Please be sure to report back here if this does prove to be the case (CT_Mailmod being the reason you were banned). People need to know about that. Hopefully devs will investiage and reverse their decision if this is the case. It's also quite sad to see gotmilk0112 having over 1000 posts on the forum and contributing nothing helpful at all. :|

Not being rude but they aren't doing a very good job. Gold spam is CONSTANT on Darrowshire, and account theft continues to be a problem as we all see on the forums every day. I'll assume from the lack of replies to this post though that nobody really cares.

Thanks for the info. No situation where emails are not delivered though? Last week it took me 4 days to create a second account (for trade only) because the confirmation email wasn't delivered. Problem was here, I was getting email from elsewhere fine.

Never used it. How's it work anyway? does the code come via email or do you need one of those authenticator doo-dads?

2FA protects one account. It does nothing to stop the gold sellers, spamming, or people who don't have 2FA enabled. Instead recruit some GMs for each server who are willing to monitor trade/chat and give them the ability to silence accounts (not characters) from all chat for 1 week as punishment for gold spam. Repeated offences result in a permement silence. As a gold seller this kills you dead. There's no point stealing accounts and all the gold if you can't then advertise to sell it.

2FA is a pain in the ass. If you have a unique username and password that you have never used anywhere else and don't share with anyone else that should be enough to keep your account safe. The problem here is the gold sellers and people stealing these accounts are getting away with it, When you see the same high level character spamming trade with gold selling sites for 6 hours it's very obvious that account is compromised yet nobody is doing anything about it. Instead of inconveniencing the majority of innocent players the dev team need to stop the criminals. Without proper human policing on each server this problem is only going to get worse. You don;t need to be a developer to solve this, recruiting GMs who are willing to help combat the problem and giving them tools to do so would put a swift end to it.

Terrible attitude OP. I for one am glad the likes of you won't be playing here. If you had spent even 5 minutes looking into this though, you will have discovered the Devs have provided a solution to this problem as previously mentioned. Just type ".wr on" and all whispers from players outside of your group/guild or friends list are automatically blocked. I don't use any add-ons and haven't had a single spam message since enabling this (now 28 hunter and 24 paladin) Go cry somewhere else you ungrateful muppet.

So I'm a big healbot fan but miss that you can't use /target in the vanilla version. I use this for blessings and the like on my pally. Anyone know a good work-around for this? Can a macro be made that works the same as /target? If not is there an alternative to healbot out there where this works? (must have the same features as healbot, be able to bind mouse buttons, resize and customise options etc) Thanks in advance! Edit: I'm aware Grid works with Clique but don't really like ths option as you can't resize or customize things how I like in the current version of Grid.

Already tried this. Doesn't work, healbot seems to ignore it for whatever reason.

Sorry I'll be more specific. Using healbot in retail you can bind a mouse button to /target and this will target a player when you click them in healbot (same as the client UI as you stated above). However doing this in the vanlla version of healbot doesn't work. I don't really want to use the client UI frames so the fact that /target works there doesn't really help me. Unless you are saying bnding /target to a mouse button in the client UI will also work in healbot? As far as I know though, it doesn't work that way.

HI, I'm trying to create a second account (for trading only) not trying to break any server rules. However I never recieve the email confirmation. I've tried, gmail, hotmail and ntlworld accounts and nothing ever turns up. I've also checked spam folders etc... nothing. Any ideas? Thanks
