  1. Wow. Shittiest PvP experience I've ever had in any game. This is the most exploited, most one-sided, most shittiest PvP I've ever seen. I'd rather play Rift PvP than this Elysium shit. Hell, I'd even play RETAIL WoW than this Elysium shit You have 20-30 Alliance running to Galv and then wiping. While 20-30 Horde go through the backdoor and take the GY. Then the Alliance who wiped, run around the battleground not doing anything. Horde just stand at the GY and camp and exploit by pulling one guard at a time. There's no PvP. The Alliance don't bother to attempt to take back the GY because 20-30 Horde went through the backdoor and are already there camping. The Alliance can't take any objectives because they're so spread out, while the Horde scale walls like Spider-Man and use exploits in the game to pull the guards one by one, until Van is left for easy tanking. You can't even hide behind him because the players can still kill you with range and he doesn't aggro. The Horde doesn't even need to take any bunkers because they can just exploit and kill the guards. Nothing but bugs, exploits, and broken mechanics all favoring one side. There's no PvP, people just stand around, each game has maybe 10-15 kills total. This shit isn't fun. I remember vanilla AV being the most fun PvP experiences I ever had, hence why I rolled on Elysium to hopefully relive those days. But now that I finally made it... can't believe how shitty the Elysium devs have handled AV on this server.

POLL: Do you want a PvE TBC server?

I don't think a PVE TBC is the answer. The devs need to fix the current situation on Darrowshire, otherwise they're going to lose another ~1500 players. I'm taking a break from playing right now as we speak. I got ganked 2 times in Feralas by a lvl 60, so got tired of it and went to Searing Gorge. Then got ganked 2 more times by a group of lvl 50's (I'm lvl 48). Can't even hearth out because they're corpse camping me. My play time is limited, I don't want to waste time walking back to my corpse after getting repeatedly ganked. I do have some characters on Darrowshire, but the lack of other players makes the server feel really dead, so I've been leveling up on Elysium much to the delight of the gankers. And tonight hasn't even been that bad. Doing quests on the weekend is such a chore in contested zones, not only do you have to compete with your own faction for resources due to the huge number of players, but you're going to get ganked every time you go out and quest, there's no way to avoid it. Elysium needs a PVE server, it's not Blizzlike without one. When Darrowshire started there were ~4.5k players during peak times, it's proof that players want a PVE server. More options are always a good thing. Letting Darrowshire get absorbed into another PVP server means less people will want to play, it's that simple.
  3. Looking at the numbers, a couple things are obvious: A massive drop happened from Feb - April, with ~4.5k peaks down to ~2.25k peaks. A slow but gradual decline has continued since then, with ~1.5k peaks in Sept. I agree with other thoughts people have mentioned. First, the massive population drop is because the hype died (and not because it's summer). Second, no new players are coming to Darrowshire, they're all going to Elysium. Third, most of the population in Darrowshire are "veteran" players who only log on to raid. Fourth, if the devs don't do anything to fix this, in about a year's time the population will reach zero, with the majority of players being veterans in guilds, and whose guilds will continue to shrink because there are no new players to recruit. In short the devs need to fix this. My solution is simple: 1) Allow players to transfer from Elysium to Darrowshire. 2) Enable cross-realm battlegrounds. Why cross-realm battlegrounds? Because as others have said, once players have completed all the PVE content, there's nothing else to do but PVP. And if you're playing on a small PVE realm without the numbers to support PVP battlegrounds, there's no reason to stay once you've completed all the PVE content. Transferring from Darrowshire to Elysium is not the answer, because once a server reaches a certain population it becomes overcrowded and unplayable. MMOs need the balance of PVE and PVP so players can choose which style they want to play in, which promotes growth (as opposed to being forced into a play style because you have no other choice).

    The Zeth'Kur problem

I started a toon on Elysium. Once I got into my 40's I got tired of the constant ganks from 3000 other lvl 60s, playing for hours but not being able to finish a single quest, getting 100+ HKs every day and not even playing a BG. So I rerolled on another realm. It's not hard to do. Just go and create a new character on the realm you want to play on. Problem solved.

    Inflation

I heard there's not a lot of people on Zeth'Kur. You could easily reroll and farm for lotuses there. Less population = less competition for mats. Problem solved. /sarcasm But seriously, supply and demand is a symptom of the disease. The disease itself is overpopulation. When a realm has 7.5k people online which is WAY more than Blizzard intended, but the spawn rates for mats don't change, there's a huge demand but little supply, which drives up the cost. The solution isn't to increase the spawn rates, which would make the server further unBlizzlike. The solution is to decrease the population to be more Blizzlike. We can go back and forth about how to do it, but in the end that's the solution. I suggest realm transfers.
  6. Lots of reasons. You can play as a GM. This opens up a whole new world of gameplay in WoW. If you enjoy the RPG aspect more than the MMO, it's fun to solo. You get all of Azeroth to yourself. You can also host it publicly but just give your realmlist to a few friends, this is what I do. Me and a few friends play on our own private WoW server, all as GMs. We search http://db.vanillagaming.org/ and spawn the gear we want, run instances, run raids as 5-man. It's fun to just dick around sometimes.
  7. Actually to clear a few things up: You don't need to know how to compile the core, there are lots of repacks out there that have everything setup for you already. You can run the servers and play on the same pc easily if you plan to play by yourself offline.
