Hi, I am trying to figure out how to disable the changing of player color based on how much health they have left. I've done it before but I had to re-install and I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Just played AV on Elysium for the first time...
piastoax replied to geodude074's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Retail AV is garbage now. But I agree using an obvious exploit (the back door bug) is not blizlike. They removed that bug in a future patch. Alliance exploit too - they pull the war masters out of Dreks room and then just go in on Drek without touching one of them. They don't even have to kill the war masters at all they just pull them to the tree and go straight for Drek. Maybe you should get with the 7 minute win premade group. Regardless of who rushes boss, all it takes is a few good players in the right spots to prevent any team from rushing boss. Blame the players for this, not the battleground. The main problem is that people are forced to play a battleground they don't enjoy in order to get certain rewards, so they will do whatever is necessary to get the battleground done as quick as possible. They want to win or lose as fast as possible and avoid all PVP. When that doesn't work for them, they rage quit the game and leave those of us who do enjoy the BG to pick up the pieces. -
Why not just set it up to queue people against equally geared people based on average ilvl. That should help. You cant stop premades from happening.

Seriously people learn to play AV or dont join again

Your response only confirms my post. The reason the game was going on 8 hours is exactly what I explained above. -

I am plenty relaxed, just pissed off. You know I'm right though. Many of us leveled toons on Elysium specifically for the vanilla AV experience and we're tired of you back door cry babies constantly trying to blame us for your own inadequacies. -

Ironically, the reason games go on for 5-10 hours is because of. YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Multiple failed back door attempts and toxic players who have absolutely no idea how to PVP or play AV, nor any desire to play AV, raging at players in battleground chat and turning what is supposed to be a fun game into a cesspool of negativity. For example, a brand new game starts. Some idiot dumb ass suggests "BALINDA HILL" as a strategy without even bothering to look at the comp of the group, which happens to have zero tanks and zero healers and a bunch of sub-level 60 characters. 99% of the BG groups up at Balinda Hill, most players of which are relying on that person to actually know what they were talking about. Once everyone is at Balinda Hill, the self proclaimed leader who obviously paid for their toon says "GO NOW". Most of the team actually makes it to the back door and the level 55 aggros all of the surrounding NPC's and there aren't any tanks or healers. Can't really blame the lvl 55, nobody told them that would happen. They wipe instantly and then the person leading the group actually then blames the 2 or 3 people that stayed on defense, spewing raging toxicity in chat at them. A bunch of the people that followed that person then AFK out of the game, some of which actually believed him that it was the 2-3 people defending that caused the back door attempt to fail, some of which simply prefer not to stay in a game with a leader who is trolling the entire player base in chat. Then the next group of rocket scientists comes in, again without any tanks or healers or some combination of the two, curses everyone who is still in the BG in battleground chat, calling them autistic and downs syndrome, raging about Chinese people and how it's their fault the game has taken this long, and then proceeds to do the exact same thing the previous group did. TO THE T. All this while, we sometimes lose our captains and towers because of these morons and this vicious cycle continues until the majority of the people left in the game are the ones who actually want to win the game no matter what it takes and not lose the game on purpose, because they are here to play the game and have fun and WIN, not to grind points. Those people then defend until a proper tank and healer combo come in, and proceed to win the game either pushing objectives or going back door. More importantly, they are waiting for a leader who knows how to win AV, knows how to PVP, and knows how to treat them with RESPECT, and who will actually EXPLAIN HOW TO get their quests done, and summon the various bosses, and to be instructed where to turn in their items for bonus rep. BLAME YOURSELF FOR 10 HOUR GAMES FOR BEING IDIOTS AND NOT KNOWING HOW TO PVP OR PLAY AV, and being TOXIC players, not the "Chinese" or the people who actually know how to play the game and want to win it!!! To win AV you need a tank, and you're not going to convince 40 players to lose a game on purpose because no tanks queued. They would rather wait for your sorry loser ass to AFK out so that maybe a tank and/or a REAL LEADER will come in your place so they can start having fun and winning the game. To all you back door whiners : GO FUCK YOURSELVES AND YOUR POINTS. I hope you get ZERO honor this week! -
Your understanding of PVP and BG's, and anything else you've babbled about, is about the equivalent of a molecule of smegma.

It's always the same crybabies complaining on the forum how a quick loss is always better than a longer win. These people are just a bunch of losers who lack the ability to win a game in the first place. The pugs carry them. -

piastoax replied to Ezk's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
No it works like this, summon ice lord or riders and sacrafice them for objectives. Basically, learn to AV. -
It ruins the game, and some of us actually enjoy AV. Please get rid of this obvious exploit. This is coming from a Horde player. Horde can win AV without the back door, even against a full on Alliance turtle. People just need to learn how to play AV and stop trolling for their 15 minute win.

Punishment for AFK/Intentionally Losing AVs
piastoax replied to Tornadari's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I run with a Horde group that pushes objectives and turns in all rep, summoning ice lord, riders, air raids, etc. We have epic PVP battles and so far on Elysium a 100% win rate doing objectives, using choke points and controlling graveyards, and most importantly: PVPing. In today's game we forced alliance to turtle in their keep while we burned bunkers and killed Balinda, then tricked them into coming out and bridged stomped them out of their own keep. People were busy the whole game doing stuff, whether it was doing objectives or farming Alliance with the main group. There was never a dull moment. Even the Alliance had fun; they bridge stomped us a little bit, managed to kill the Ice Lord and take the Iron Deep mines. Only the back door whiners complained in chat and AFK'ed out of a game that got the rest of us 3000+ rep and 7000+ honor in a little under 2 hours. If you like those kind of games, and you play horde, join Hydra Premades on Facebook. Hail Hydra! -
Well said.

20K ROFL. I have over 350,000 HK's in retail all from doing Rath strat AV's with a 99% win rate, and I use the same strategies in AV on Elysium as I did in retail. I also have close to 8000 HK's on my Elysium toon now, most of which came from AV. If the # of HK's you have empowers you to speak on behalf of "most people", I think I've got you beat there. But, I am not arguing that most people YOU KNOW may not enjoy a long game of AV. But guess what, most people I know DO. So, where can we go with that? Do you want to have a popularity contest? You're wrong about Horde being able to wipe the Alliance rush easily. All it takes is a literally once mage near Icewing bunker to wipe the entire horde back door team before they even get to the back door. Frost nova and the mine layer, archers, lieutenants and rams will take care of the rest. But that isn't needed. My suggestion of 10 players was for defending the actual back door, a permanent defense team that just defends the base while the rest of the team does objectives. You don't need to wipe Horde on their way to aid station. Wait until they are actually there before you wipe them. If you wipe them too early, you might force them to defend early. You want to buy as much time for your team to push the objectives as possible. In a pug game, this may simply not be possible due to people coming into the game late. You have no control of that, so you need to work with it; in other words, push objectives. You're also wrong about Alliance not being able to win in under two hours by pushing down the map and doing objectives. Just because you haven't been able to do it does not mean it's not possible. You just need a team that works together to control the right graveyards and choke points. In other words, learn how to play the game. Try rushing IBT at the beginning of the game. Defend it. Then move to TP and then FW GY. Leave IB GY to the Horde so that they can keep trying to go north. Send people to kill Galv later in the game. Maybe you'll be surprised at the outcome. If objectives were so easily skipped, then you would be able to win every game easily. But you can't, so you need objectives to win. Don't forget to leave some people on defense or this won't work. It's not guaranteed, but it's a viable strat. The NPCs defending the Alliance aid station and the stable master hit very hard, and you can take advantage of that easily by having some mages and hunters near the flag and kiting Horde to agro more NPCS like the druids near the aid station. If you're in a pug game you obviously may need to educate people of any of these strategies. That's the hardest part of all this, since it would seem "most people" simply don't know how to play AV or don't want to play it. If your team is full of "lets get this over with" and "let them win" players or "this is taking too long", that is why it's hopeless. Stop trying to play the game with a silver spoon in your mouth and you might get somewhere. If you don't like the game, don't play it at all. This seems like the category you fit in. If the vast majority of AB & WSG games you join have a much higher ratio of higher ranking horde players, then you are in the minority. I can assure you this because, again, your personal experience does not represent the experience of everyone on the server, or even "most people". I refuse to believe you personally know all 8000+ players on the server and there are no actual statistics to prove what you are saying is true. I play only Horde, and my experience in BG's is exactly what I stated. In summary, your entire complaint is that the Horde have easy wins instead of Alliance. Stop trying to get easy wins. AV isn't supposed to be easy. Work the map, have some fun PVP and win the game. It might take an hour, it might take 2, it might take 3. Quit your whining and just play the game. It would be funny to hear what your response is if Elysium moved the Horde cave farther south, giving Alliance the advantage. You'd probably just tell Horde to stop whining and get over it. But, even if they did that, we'd still roflstomp your ass.

Stop using the term "most people", since you don't know "most people". That is what makes everything you state pure rubbish. Everything I stated is fact based on years of actual experience leading games of Alterac Valley, that includes experience leading AV on Elysium, with players working as a team to push objectives. Of course there are reasons why people leave a battleground. Sometimes they don't have time. Sometimes they get sick of seeing the trolls in BG chat. Sometimes it's to jerk off. Sometimes it's even because people are refusing to push objectives. You ass-u-me too much. The current location of the Horde cave gives Horde an advantage in the straight up blitz race, which is what most games are, which explains the high Horde win rates. This was proven when Blizzard moved the Horde cave farther south, causing Alliance to win most games. If you tracked the statistics of only games in which teams actually pushed objectives, the win rate would be higher for those teams who did versus teams who didn't. The conversation ultimately is about how to win AV and also to answer a question about why Horde win most games. My answers to these questions are all correct. You have no control of how long a random pug game will take since ultimately there will be people in the BG who want to PVP and play objectives to win, which is how the battleground was designed to be played. It's the people who come in and start spewing toxicity in chat and trolling people that cause games to take longer. Instead of trying to work as a team, they spend their time AFK, arguing in BG chat, insisting back door or losing is the only way to play AV, insulting and trolling people with viable strategies and ideas to counter a game in which the enemy team is defending. If you want every game to be a fast game, run your own premade where everyone goes back door. But I guarantee you will lose many games that way, and people will start dropping out of your premade like flies when you lose, especially if it's on purpose for the sake of saving time. As for why the Horde win rate is lower in other BG's, there are various reasons to explain this. The Horde queues are much longer than Alliance queues, and there are a lot more higher ranked Alliance players in the game, and a lot more Alliance premades going on. Almost every WSG or AB I go in to, the opposite team has all higher ranked players, usually a premade with the perfect comp, making it an unfair game. On the opposite side of the spectrum, there are a lot of people who give up too easily when they see that. The second they see a premade they already decide to lose the game without trying. I've even seen Horde premades do that, simply because they are severely outgeared by the other premade. However, none of this has anything to do with Alterac Valley. Again, there is a large community of people who enjoy Alterac Valley, whether the games are long or short. Look at the link from my preious post about the Rathamus strategy. The same strategy on Elysium has a 100% win rate.

Actually the Horde are the idiots in this scenario. They should summon the Ice Lord and push with him. If they've burned 2 bunkers and killed Balinda already, he will start moving immediately after being summoned and, with the groups help, annihilate every NPC and Alliance in his path, all the way to the Alliance keep. Cap and defend all graveyards on the way up. While most of the group is pushing bridge with Ice Lord, have a few people on stand by at back door to ninja aid station while Alliance are busy at the bridge, forcing them to rez in the cave. Game over.
-
You're wrong. The Alliance can rush into an undefended FW keep and cap relief hut just as easily as the Horde can jump into the undefended aid station. If there are any defenders on either side, the blitz is not viable. If people are rage quitting or coming into the battle late, the new players automatically become defenders; sometimes they have no choice as they meet the opposing blitz team en route. The problem is that most of the time Alliance spend too much time grouping up in the field, and in some cases waste time killing Galv, which buys the Horde the time they need to finish first. It's a completely random crap shoot whether either team will make it to the opposing boss without dying, let alone get in and cap the graveyard while it's undefended. However, the truth of the matter is, I can win a game fairly quick even with the Alliance turtling. Anyway, it's so funny how Alliance are complaining about this EXACTLY the way they did in retail back in the day. They complained so much that Bliz moved the Horde cave farther south, swaying the win ratio of these "back door" games to favor the Alliance. However, it made absolutely no difference in games where players actually used the choke points and graveyards to control the battleground and did all the objectives. We still won our games when doing the objectives on the map and forcing the enemy to PVP. In most cases, we were able to push them into the starting cave and farm them in there for hours. It was then that they added reinforcements so that the game wouldn't be an everlasting honor farm. However, what that actually meant was we could finish the game without even killing the boss. We would just kill 600 players and the game was over. It made honor farming even faster. Both factions can utilize the same choke points by the way. AV is definitely NOT a PVE BG. It is a 40v40 epic PVP battleground with PVE objectives on the side. In a 90 minute game of AV I can get 3000+ rep and honor with people cheering "Lok Tar Ogar" and "For the Horde", begging to join the next game, and that's not even on AV weekend. It may not compare per hour to spamming other battlegrounds, but it's a decent amount and people usually have much more fun. Your statement of "most people do not enjoy" is actually nothing but speculation with no statistics or factual information to back it up. In other words, pure rubbish. There is in fact a very large community of folks out there who enjoy playing Alterac Valley for what it is. If you don't, then just move along get your rep from lost games, the same way Horde do in the other BG's. After all, once you hit exalted you'll never come back to AV, so why do you even care?
-
That makes no sense. Random <> Equal. You're zoning into a battleground with completely random people, who may or may not contribute anything to the team (random), who may or may not give a crap whether they win or lose (random). The comp is also random. Hence, you may as well just /random 100 and give the winner 3 marks and end the BG without doing anything. When I run premades, I invite anyone that wants to join. I don't have any gear, skill, class or spec requirements. All I require is for people to follow the calls. Therefore, the only difference between my premade and solo queuing in is that you have made a commitment to follow the leader. "Back doorers" have no desire to PVP, and so they don't belong in a PVP battleground. They just want easy rep so they don't care whether they win or lose. They just want it to be over ASAP and get whatever rep they get. I can lead AV to a win with a bad group composition, and I do it all the time; no problem. A battleground with 80 people in it cannot be compared to one with 20. Group comp makes a much bigger difference in WSG than it does in AV. In AV, you don't need group comp to win. You just need a good leader and people who can follow instructions. Of course it helps to have tanks and healers, and geared and/or skilled players, but none is required to win, it will just take longer without. https://www.engadget.com/2012/08/31/rage-against-the-zerg-horde-premades-sew-up-alterac-valley-with/ (Disclaimer: I do not use any preform AV enabler or any other add-on to get my premade group in. We simply solo queue at the same time) Pre vs Pre is a different story. With equally skilled leaders on either side, the team with the best comp, gear & skill will win, or in the case of equal teams, the best strategy.

I've had 5 talent points in improved mark of the wild for a long time, and the buff tooltip is always wrong. Can this be fixed? Nobody really has any idea they are being given an improved version of mark of the wild unless it's pointed out there is a bug in the tooltip.
