It's actually a complain. Ok, usually it's way more effective to cherry pick people for dungeons. And I literally only asked like 8 people in a row and then got muted for an hour. I know that it's to prevent gold farmers, but it's a bit tight imao, since it affect me a lot. Just a feedback, don't know where else to put it than here.

Then it shouldn't be a problem, if you're on the same page as the others, and you're in an environment where there is space for it, I honeslty don't see the problem. Is just a video game, so if one has more fun doing that thing, I honestly don't seeing that being "too special". And it doesn't have to effect you at all, you can just be in a different environment where you min/max everything. To some, the playstyle and class just simply appeal more to them, and that's just a matter of different taste. And granted we live in a time where many wish to be a special snowflake, and personally it's to the extend where you fucking choke on it, but being a dps paladin in a vanilla private server, come on, there should be space for it somewhere out there. That shouldn't be hard to accept. Furthermore I think it's a vague statement to make "for being special", because you can imply that to everything really, in that context. "oh you wanna be rogue/warrior, so you can be top dps ... you're so special", "oh you wanna be main tank so you can get all the loot you want, that's so special" etc. difference is one thing is required the other is a niche. But that's not the point I'm trying to make.

The idea is that you can be a tier 2 damage dealer, meaning you are behind rogues and warriors. As you can see, some people freaks out just the thought of a retardin. But it can be done (at least in the beginning), because of skill, determination, time, etc. it's just a challenge overall, and it probably feel more satisfying than spamming frostballs. So that mentality is partially right, but also that it just can be the different style of gameplay (hence why some people would rather prefer to be melee rather than caster and vise versa. Sure if you wanna hardcore it, and go for top10 as the best raiding guild on the server, it is not optimal to take a gamble in a retardin, but if you're casual about, then there shouldn't be a problem of giving it a shot, and see if the person can deliver. Plus buff, area, off heal, off tank in certaint situations is not bad to have either. And I'm kinda curious to see, if a retardin can be competitive, within the guild, from mc to naxx, if you give them a fair shot at it. The reason why I decided not to try it is, that it might be difficult to even get a shot at it, I've only seen like 2-3 guilds who is willingly trying it, but they only run like 1 max 2 so their spot is taken. However I'm gonna alt it, and maybe in the future, I can do an alt run and see if it works out, if not, I can just use it in pvp.

We'll find people with the same mindset as yours, surely the thing you wanna do is min/max everything, which is fine, but I'm not hardcore raiding anymore, I'm gonna have a smooth and loose approach to this. Even though the others do crap damage, it doesn't mean that they aren't doing progress. If you're on the same page with 40 others then there shouldn't be a problem to have 1 fucking retardin. However if you wanna go min/max way, yea sure then it may be retarded, and then it is lame, surely. Again this is a private server, so I think it is reasonable to test what you actually can do in the game. and btw I rolled a warrior. And probably gonna do a retardin as an alt. funny that being a retardin can get on your nerve 13 years after the game. Also funny that you mention that you don't want to debate and then proceeds, but there you go ^^

It's not one vid, it's also people in the past that could vouche for it, and in other guilds, where they're literally number 2. I rolled a warrior anyway. Played the game in 2006, and I mailed a paladin too, so I know how the drill is.

That is exactly my point, and you should think that a video game that was made over a decade ago on a private server, that there should be room for experimenting with different stuff and push the boundaires. Someone even used the arguement that they didn't want to try it out, because they don't wanna have a special snowflake. Even though there is a lot who wants to be special snowflakes nowadays, and I don't understand that concept whatsoever, in the end of the game this is just a game, and it's about having quality in the time you spend. I could understand you'll stick to your opinion, if the dps paladin is constantly rock bottom in dps, and there is no hope of ever climbing the meter. For sure then the stigma holds true. However if you can put up the extra work, and actually manage to be in just top10 all the time, then there should be no whining about it not being viable. If you make progress, it's progress. Period. And I would believe that it's more satisfying in the end.

It makes literally no sense ... it's just a video game that was made a decade ago. That you're butthurt over something works, which you can't comprehend because your narrow mind tells you something different that other people have taught you before. It's not about being a snowflake, it's about getting quality in your gameplay, and if a ret paladin can be in top10, then it's an absolutely rediculous statement. And one should think, that since it is a private server and the game is this old, there should be room to seek out the boundaries.

But if progress is made, why does it matter then ? And if it can matter towards the end of raid and it works, then there shouldn't be any problem ?

But if it is proven viable and you can be top10 or top5 damagewise, then it doesn't matter how you get from A to B ? If one get more personal reward for putting in extra effort and therefore improve one quality of gameplay, why should that bothers anyone else, if it's possible? Granted if you're hopelessly at the buttom of the majority of the time, then it's not worth it. But if you can stay consistantly in top10, and even top sometimes, then it's all worth it in my book.

Again what is the rotations on trash and on bosses? And when you're leveling should you go for consecration first or just straight to the Seal of Command ?

I played paladin in vanilla and wanted to dps soo bad, and I was in a top10 guild on the server I was on, and they actually just let me in, I didn't do shit, and didn't asked me twice of just being dps, but in all honesty it wasn't optimal, because I was sooo nooby. If I actually put effort behind it, and getting the right gear, cosumables, etc. I think it will be pretty viable, as you and some others have proven. You gave me blood on my tooth to live wet vanilla wow dream of mine! I'm gonna give it a shot. JESUS CHRIST, how fucking butthurt can some of these guys be? If you just can be in the top10 in the damagemeter isn't that viable enough regardless of classes? And you manage to even stay top 5 a lot. I don't understand how narrowminded people can be, when a dude actually show that it can in fact be viable inspite of what you might have been told or seen before. Why can't one just acknowledge that it is plausible, and it increases the quality of the individual's gaming experience overall ?

Watching Drakova & Esfund on YouTube and they make it work, and occasionally be the top damage dealer as a ret paladin, in fact ret paladins do more damage on Elysium than on other private servers like Kronos. I might go for that, sorry guys.

Oh for sure, I know what is against dps paladins, for sure. Honestly the extra preparation, and that I've to play my A+ game doesn't bothers me the slightest, because I love hard challenges, as that would be just more personal rewarding for me. The thing that would keep me from doing it, is that I would never get a shot to even begin with. And I think the hardest part is to overcome the stigma. I do have hopes that since it's a private server, people might be more open minded, but I don't know this community. I've seen ret paladins that got the opportunity that actually could reach being the top 5 dps on the raid. And that is pretty legit. So if there exist such a guild in this community that is ready to groom a ret paladin, that would give me a huge quality of gameplay.

Actually my vanilla wet dream is to be raiding as dps paladin. I've seen that it is possible, even though it is harder in many aspects. Especially the stigma of Retardin. They might not be the top damage dealer (it can even be possible with the right gear and ofc skill), but it brings utilities as auras, cleansings, buffs, off heal, off tank into the mix as well, so if there exist a guild out there that would accept 1, that would be a vanilla dream coming true for me! And since Sulferus has to go to someone (and that's usually not the warriors), that someone could be a paladin! I mean 1 dps paladin in a 40 man raid wouldn't hurt, would it ;) ?

Ok! I think I will take the route of the Warrior, and make my alt a mage. Ty!
