I'm hoping this to be a new conversation and that its not bashed to its entirety.
I never had the privilege to play wow in its infancy, I joined at the end of Burning Crusade and the start of the Wrath of the Lichking. My thoughts are this, that while this experience for me is both new and familiar, I see a unique opportunity for Elysium and its Developers. I do understand that this was and is an attempt to emulate a classic version of WoW no longer available through retail, but why limit it to just an emulation? The dev's have the ability to improve and balance the classic version to some degree.
I've tinkered a little bit with core/databases for a private server and see some potential for new spells and items. New NPC spawns or quest lines.
From what I've seen with my limited tinkering, it is something in the realm of possibility. That the game could offer more than just Resto Druids at the end level. Speaking as a horde player, the options for tanks is VERY limited in Vanilla. From what I read-up on, it was a matter of gear optimizing that caused the issue back in the day. The devs could, in theory, create new Tier Sets that would expand the choices that a player could make. Or even new questlines that offered new Legendary Items aside from [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker], [Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros], and [Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian].
There could be General spells with a 20 hr CD and NPCs that teach them, for Raid or dungeon portals. You need to be able to visit them first of course but I think the idea is a bit of a quality of life improvement more than just a catering to what retail puts up with. It's in no way LFR or dungeon finder but something more world building I believe.
This is a Non-Blizzard server. Maybe by creating something different and unique, Blizzard would notice a different approach to what retail has offered. A much simplified, un-personal, un-challenging, experience that falls flat compared to what Legacy servers offer. You really get a sense of what's missing when you play them both. The thrill of looting a green was lost to me for so long due to the grind of B.O.A.s. The skip in my heart when I pulled just 1 extra mob and the fear of death the loomed when I realized the error. The joy of saving someone in the same situation, and their simple appreciation.
I started on this server when It launched in January, and stopped participating around late February, so perhaps I'm just out of touch with the stat of the realm. Maybe Druid tanks are viable in this current state. Maybe Shamans handle tanking just as well as a Warrior.
Just poking the Bear (form) I suppose.
