Are you going to play on Elysium TBC realm? (poll)
MacFierce replied to Welterschaft's topic in The Burning Crusade
Burning Crusade is by far my favorite version of WOW. For a lot of reasons, but primarily because the new zones were awesome and Druids/Paladins could actually tank. I will absolutely play on it. -
unhappy with the zeth kur transfers
MacFierce replied to Snazzytoast02's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Granted, my highest toon is a 27 mage. But i also have a 18 priest, 16 lock and 14 rogue. Every single orange or lower hoardie i have encountered has died. And most of the reds i see can be charmed into letting me live. Just bow, dance, beg, wave, etc... There have been a few red skull d1ckwad rogues here and there that gank lowbees on their way into DM or BFD or whatever... It's not terribly common so far from what i've seen. Just stay away from the Hot zones like STV. -
Whats going on with the Elysium server
MacFierce replied to shaddoe's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Hehe. Noticed this yesterday too. I dinged 17 or 18 on my priest and couldn't spend my talent point. Tried relogging and no dice. Whatever. It worked the next day and i needed to get to bed regardless. In some ways i wish this happened every night (force me to sleep). -
I think everyone that plays this project should chip in 5 bucks a head to buy the people running it a freaking massive Christmas present each year. I absolutely love Elysium and the people running it get mad props from me. They're literally philanthropists.

Merge Elysium and Darrowshire
MacFierce replied to halibut's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Isn't Darrow pretty much running as a retail "Normal" population server would in terms of player count? Not low... Not High... Just Normal. -
I've never used pfUi or really any add-ons in my time playing WOW. I was, however, wondering what you other mages are using. I'd love to have QOL improvements like programs that show crit %, better organized raid group layouts, etc... I'm really new to the concept of applying 3rd party software to the game's interface. It actually makes me a little nervous, but i think i need to take the leap if i'm going to be serious about playing vanilla.

I agree. I always enjoy leveling professions as i go. The big upside is no matter what profession you pick it WILL make your life much easier as you grind up to 60.

Level 54 as Ally - regreting it :(
MacFierce replied to Watari's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I mostly played alliance in retail and plenty of hoard too but definitely majority alliance. I wanted to roll hoard on this server but when i saw the slight (as said above) population advantage the hoard has it forced my hand and i stuck with old-faithful alliance. No regrets. It has definitely worked out well so far. But if i did roll that hoard i could definitely see myself having those same feelings as OP (missing the nostalgia of what i know better). I'll roll a hoardie on here some day too. -
I play pretty late. Earliest is 10 PM EST and i usually go until about 2-3 AM EST. There are tons of seemingly N/A people (they all speak english) that play at these times. But that is interesting to see that EU and China (in their respective time slots) consist of most of the population.

World Of Warcraft is it an addiction?
MacFierce replied to George Colby's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I don't know about it being an addiction, but it sure as hell is bad for my sleeping patterns. -
Chat broken? Updated? Am I muted?
MacFierce replied to DrFaroohk's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
This is why every person that PMs you to sell gold is a lv. 10 paladin... -
You will quickly find that there is an actual community here. Unlike retail where everything is cross server and instant que/travel/etc... The things you're worried about are the reasons to abandon retail. Your concerns (OP) are the reason people play here.

Pretty good trick TBH. Glad it didn't happen to me lol. Also, i'd log to a different toon before i pay anyone 1 copper for some crap like this.

Get a screen shot and report it.

I would love to see some positive words about Elysium!
MacFierce replied to Gronnrock's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It's the greater internet fckwad theory man. Normal Person + Anonymity + an Audience = Total Fckwad! The server is freaking great. I'm loving it. And i must concur with those above about player quality. People that play here know their stuff. They play here because they have all played lots of retail and miss the game the way it once was. So you're not going to see too many noobs if any tbh. -
Thanks GNome! Definitely going to do it. Hover keybind sounds amazing!
-
Thanks man. Gonna take your advice. Is it intuitive? For example, will it wipe out all my macros and will I struggle to make new ones and to bind keys? From what i gather, it's a different command system to bring up certain things. It's not terribly clear from the post the creator put out, but it seems like "/macro" is no longer the command for making macros, for example. Is there a user guide type of thing for it? I have read most of the posts by its creator over on other websites. I know he is universally praised for it.

Recommendation for a new player
MacFierce replied to Rideen's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Alliance on Elysium is far from horrible (so far). I understand it's going to get tougher (24 mage atm). So far my only two like-level PVP encounters were fairly easy victories. And other than a red skull level mage ganking me inside the inn at Menthil Harbor (LOL), i've been able to beg and charm my way out of being slaughtered by every single red skull hoardie i've encountered. Most people aren't jerks. If you hit the high 20s low/mid 30s and intend on questing/leveling in SV, you get what you deserve. And (BTW) it's likely not too much fun for the hoard at that level in SV either. I'm curious to see how it evolves as i move into the 30s and 40s. Like i said, i know it will get harder. But i think that's true for both factions. Also the 45%A / 55%H ratio is the absolute worst case scenario you'll find at any given play time. There are times when it is a true 50%A / 50%H ratio. Generally it is somewhere in between those two extremes. Overall, it's a real blast from the past. People want to help you. They want to group. You'll meet friends and easily get support for any quest you're doing. -
Thx dude!

I have been holding off on enabling mine mostly for fear that i'll screw it up. Is there a step-by-step instructional on how to enable 2FA? And should I continue holding off until the problem is resolved?

Elysium is a fantastic server (i just started alliance with a hand full of toons at or just under 20). I can't speak for the other servers. -
Same faction griefing.. Why?
MacFierce replied to jcochran's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I always find it amusing when Stitches winds up in Sentinel Hill and murders everyone. But i suppose that could be an act of terrorism started by either faction. It's the wild west man. You gotta expect griefing from every angle. Must say though, the folks i've met in the world and grouped with so far (I have a 19 mage, 16 lock, 16 priest, 12 rogue) have all been really awesome so far. -
Questions about the Community (New Player)
MacFierce replied to roxus01's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Elysium tends to be about 55% hoard, 45% alliance. Not always true of course. There are many times during the day when it's close to 50/50. But i play on Alliance (the smaller faction any way you cut it) and am in awe of how busy things are. Granted i just started playing, but everywhere i go there are people in massive numbers. Just last night the Hoard attempted to attack Stormwind. They must have done some damage because the bankers were all dead (actually the one in the middle survived). I didn't see the fight, but i did see the skeletons. Literally hundreds of skeletons. It's a blast man. You'll find people to play with no matter what your interests are. -
I feel like you'd be better of with retail if you are in to role playing (do they still have full blown RP servers?). It seems to me like most people that play on a vanilla server do so for the nostalgia factor of playing the game as it was when it was released (i.e. very difficult PVE and brutal no-holds-barred PVP) and not for the purpose of role playing.
