To simplify things: Combat (swords): will give you maximum flexibility (and arguably DPS) for PvE, either solo or with a tank. It is also (arguably) the most monotonous and the less "rogue style" one. Also good for PvP to keep constant pressure on your target, but not good if you prefer big chunks of damage. Daggers (Subtlety/Assassination): high positional requirement for either PvE and PvP since you need to be behind the target at all times. Very dependant on Stealth and having the opener move on PvP. Also very prone to frustration and anger under laggy conditions / server load. Want to try something different? Try Hemorrage with swords and bleedings, valid for both PvE and PvP, no positional requirements, fast and better Stealth (always enjoyable), and lower energy needs = more active play.

Vanish has always been half broken on vanilla path after patch and even after several expansions, so much that it took Blizzard years to "kind of" fix it giving rogues immunity to breaking stealth for a few seconds after Vanishing, even if you take damage. The current situation is so absurd that many times you Vanish and the mobs keep autoattacking you as if nothing happened, or in PVP I remember vanishing under Faerie Fire and nothing happened (as Faerie Fire blocks Stealth and Vanish) BUT there is one common thing every time: your 5 minute cooldown is lost, and the reagent too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ A Rogue's life.

Wny put an invisible wall at alliance base in Warsong Gulch? 100% not blizzlike.
Escatopoulos replied to creeps1's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Wall jumpers suck on BGs, and when you add up that most of them are twinks, you can tell that theses people who exploit these unintended game features are people looking for having any sort of advantage, fair or unfair, over other players, and that is not and has never been the intention of the game. -
From my experience, anything under 200ms is perfectly fine, and I play a rogue so lag for me is crucial. In fact I get 20ms average that should be almost like I'm sitting over the server but the real problem is server load, not speed connection or ping, sadly... :'(

[Lag every weekend] Server does not support the population?
Escatopoulos replied to Escatopoulos's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
That's it: it is not a connection issue, nor speed nor proximity to the server. I'm playing with a 20ms ping and the lag is unbearable, and same thing for anybody in the same BG for example. It is a server issue, server load issue most certainly. -

So I believe we could all agree that the current problem is not the connection but the population handled by the server. I would honestly love to hear from the server admins and that would encourage more people to donate if they knew that the money they are giving away is buying this an that to achive a lag free server. -
[Lag every weekend] Server does not support the population?
Escatopoulos replied to Escatopoulos's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I disagree. The problem is persistent and can be reproduced, therefore it can be fixed. Maybe it's none of the solutions I have come up with? Ok I'm obviously no computer engineer but I believe the association population -> lag is obvious, so if technical measures cannot be implemented, then I can't think of any other solution than setting a much lower population limit. I would gladly wait in a queue to enjoy then a smooth gaming experience than playing (even for free) a half quality thing. The word unplayable is repeated very often, well overall the game works very decently, but it is indeed unplayable at times, specially on weekends, and weekends are the only time many people have to play the game. -

ADDED: Also these lag spikes happen even with a "official game lag" of around 20-30 ms, so the connection speed is clearly not the problem, but the server handling so many simultaneous connections. Again I undestand the money limit, and that's why I would suggest elaborating a transparent economic white paper, a sort of kickstarter project if you like, to collect the necessary amount to be able to perform the necessary changes and get rid of this lag forever. People would gladly donate (I would) if they see exactly where the money is going and how much is left until this goal can be achieved. -
Is this a good use of rogue talents (am I really a rogue)?
Escatopoulos replied to Phyery's topic in Rogue
You are a Combat rogue, same as me, and you basically only use stealth to open with Garrote or Cheap Shot, otherwise you can go straight and unstealthed and you'll do great. BUT is that a rogue? Well I suggest you try this: once you've acquired a decent and slow dagger for your MH, reset your talents to full Subteltly and experience fast stealth movement and killing mobs just with Ambush and a 4 point Eviscerante, it's nice too. Combat can be boring since it's all the time the same, but it's really the best for soloing and leveling. Also once you learn Kidney shot, you'll be able to backstab the mobs again without the need of Gouge. Think of this rotation for mobs: Ambush, let energy replenish while just autoattacking, Kidney Shot + Backstab and the mob should be dead. Very few mobs your level resist an Ambush + Backstab, even if the Ambush doesn't crit (and it will only crit aprox. half of the times at low levels until you stack up stats). In instances it's far easier since you're behind the mob most of the times. So I'd suggest go give Subtetly a try ;) -
Greetings! I'm trying to create a simple macro that would force to cast a spell on myself independently of my selected target when right clicking it and cast it on target when left clicking. I vaguely remember from years ago on the retail (WOTLK an later): #showtooltip /cast [button:1, target=target] MySpell; [button:2, target=player] MySpell So far I couldn't get it to work. Thanks everybody in advance.

Buffs? yes since I don't use it in combat nor often at all. -
What do you mean it's emtpying out? I just signed up looking for the vanilla experience and ended up here because it seemed the most active vanilla server of all!
