Few questions.

Recommended Posts

  I know Valkyrie server has been up for a while so the server might be great, but I still have some questions that will decide whether I join/don't join the server.

1.) I played on Nostalrius and I'm curious if the difficulty will be similar on Elysium? I ask because on other Vanilla servers the content is quite easy compared to Nostalrius where mobs actually hit hard and the quality of players was more important which is probably why it was so popular.

2.) Is LOS working properly?

3.) I only play warrior and once Nostalrius went down I tried Kronos and the rage generation seemed way off on Kronos(to low). I want to know if the warrior is working correcting when it comes to rage generation?

4.) How is the mob pathing(are they running through walls) and Dungeon bosses? I don't have huge expectations(some bugged wont bother me) but hopefully it isn't unplayable.

5.) How many players can Elysium handle? On Nostalrius it could get pretty bad(laggy) sometimes when over 7k players where on so can we expect the same here?

Thank you.

Is LOS working properly?

You can cast through trees and some game objects. At the same time I didn't notice any problems with walls (didn't test properly)

How is the mob pathing(are they running through walls) and Dungeon bosses?

Both are pretty decent. Pathing is almost flawless - mobs run around any fences and trees (fences and trees I've seen so far) and you can kill them without touching you, the only problem they don't see the most of dynamic walls atm i.e. doors in strat and scholo.

 I only play warrior

Pfffffff

I started on Nost on launch day, also played here and can't judge which server should be labeled as harder. I guess at the end its all about invested time in development. For example somebody scripted here mobs in tirisfal to give fort to each other and heal + later run properly for reinforcements. Or I recall scholo as being slighly harder here. Really hard to judge, I guess that clever playing will make things easy, idiotic moves will make things hard.

LOS was a subject of many debates during the time I was playing here. Finally it was agreed that the server should have this weird unlogical blizzlike version for patch 1.12, when ppl could actually shoot through trees... Nost did it the same way.

Can't help you with 3rd question ;d

Problem is nost was a lot of guess work in their mechanics, they also, despite claiming 5 years of work still had a buggy server and the GM staff was less than exceptional, a few of them letting their personal ideology get in the way of their duties as a Game Master

Though not as bad as the former Kronos GM, who would literally TP people out of battle grounds so alliance could win

That's true, at start Nost had some unworking group of quests, (escorts could be completed by just single character), some objects had too long respawn timer and so on. But they could fix those problems in short time with the help of testers.

Valkyrie gms always followed the path of non-intervention in the game process, such actions like teleporting without reason, morphing were forbidden to them by admins. And I think that such situation when something was completly broken never happened to me, I really don't recall any situation when I had to ask for help of gms. Once after some "magic" pull from our tank, boss was stuck in textures and raid leader asked for reset, but that was it. Later even this scenario could not happen again cause devs changed some textures.

3.) I only play warrior and once Nostalrius went down I tried Kronos and the rage generation seemed way off on Kronos(to low). I want to know if the warrior is working correcting when it comes to rage generation?

I've been testing a warrior for 2 days.
Here is my observation for rage generation:

a standard formula :

RageForGettingHit = damage / (1.5 * CharacterLevel)

Character : 60 lvl "Naxx" warrior ( 440+ def)

test №1

1) NPC: Highlord Taelan Fordring 63 Elite (Hearthglen)
hits 480 - 520 --> 13-14 rage point  (.....?)
crushing blow ~ 750 --> 16 rage point (.....?)

2) NPC: Molten giant 61-62 Elite (Molten Core)
hits 450-600 --> 12-14 rage (......?)

test №2

1) NPCs: 54-56 Elite mobs (around Hearthglen)
  hits 200-350 --> 3-4 rage point (according to the formula, works as intended)

2) NPCs: 58-60 lvl none-elite mobs (throughout the world)
 hits 50-130 ---> 1-2 rage point (sometimes their hits do not generate any rage at all, but still works as intended)

Conclusion:
Rage generation works as intended when a warrior is being hit by any NPC in open world, if NPC's lvl is 60 or below.
Being hit by 61+ Elite NPC generates different amount of rage and I can't find any explanation.

On the bright side, unlike Kronos server, here rage is being generated when normal melee attacks were parried, dodged, and blocked by a warrior, what, in fact,  is the main reason why warriors have bad times on Kronos.
from patch 1.3.0:
Fixed a bug where rage was not being generated when normal melee attacks were parried, dodged, and blocked.

Well Nostalrius wasn't perfect at the start but it was still good. The best part was the population which was probably what gave it it's popularity. I will give Elysium a shot, how can anyone reject with just a bold statement(Flawless dungeon and raid scripting up to the AQ40).

I predict a population above 3k on week one, what do you guys think?
