Elysium Community Update #2 — Pre-launch testing, growing pains, more restructuring.

Dear Community,


 


It's that time of the month again, which means it's time for an update on our progress as a community and server. This month has been especially exciting, with the Elysium launch poking its head through the crack in the door, staring at us wistfully with beady little eyes.


We have some important topics to address in this update, so let's get to it!


 


Staff Roster Changes


More of them! Aaaaaaah! Don't worry though, the internal changes have been made for the betterment and longevity of the Elysium Community.


  • Shenna, Valkyrie Administrator, has stepped down from leading the Elysium project. Project lead has been handed over to Ignimortis, on account of language barriers causing misunderstandings. Ignimortis is fluent in both Russian and English, and will be acting as a communication layer between Elysium and Valkyrie's upper level administrators.
  • Rubenal (hey, that's me!) has been forced into a more passive role as an overseer and realm administrator due to real life circumstances interfering. They have passed their more active duties to Unstop, who will be acting as a new Community Manager.
  • Unstop has been promoted to Community Mananger, and will be upholding the Community Mananger responsibilites fully.
  • Solidifiction on level one and two Game Master ranks and commands. Maybe we need a better name for them? This will probably be discussed internally.

Growing Pains


It's become evident that the community of late has been feeling growing pains. There's been gnawing concerns over the future of Elysium and the stability of Elysium's core. Unstop has written an accurate explanation of events here, and I highly encourage you to read it! It details why the core has been buggy of late, and what the future holds in store. TL;DR? Newly coded core, all is well, we'll be sticking around as a server and community for some time to come.


 


There's also been noted concerns of "Russians taking over the realm". We've been investing a lot of time into ensuring this won't happen. Even at risk of initially alienating the Russian community, we will be fully enforcing the English only rule. Elysium's designed to be an English only realm for the international English speaking community, and we intend to make sure it stays that way.


 


Testing


Earlier this month we launched an Elysium public test realm to iron out any issues with the new core. The amount of effort gone into testing is astounding, and thankfully a vast majority of the issues will be resolved before Elysium's launch. A big thank you to everyone involved for helping us make the gameplay experience as smooth as possible.


 


Blastoff!


Elysium's launch is in approximately two days from this update being written, and the community forums have been buzzing with activity from exposure from our advertising campaigns and the word-of-mouth spread of Elysium! It's honestly amazing to see our hard work coming to fruition, and we really can't thank you folks enough for the endless support we've recieved. We've come a long way from the realms initial concept being brought to Valkyrie's administrators, and it's wonderful to see how much Elysium's community has grown.


 


Elysium will be launching August 17th at 15:00 GMT, and we hope to see all of you there!
