Kotl 5 Report post Posted September 29, 2016 Simple question: I want to write cyrillic in wow chat, i got even the russian client, but still when I switch to cyrillic with alt+shift i letters like öäöüöäü. Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted September 29, 2016 Because there was no official russian localization for Vanilla cyrillic letters were added by modifying ingame fonts. Additional latin symbols like äöü were simply replaced by cyrillic alphabet. That's why people with original fonts see these instead of proper russian letters. So to type in cyrillic you should simply replace the original fonts with modified ones. Of course, after doing so you won't be able to see äöü anymore - those will be replaced by random cyrillic letters. Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted September 29, 2016 The "Fonts" folder should be in your WoW directory (where the WoW.exe is). In that case just replase them with the ones I gave you. I would recommend to make a reserve copy though. If there is no "Fonts" folder, feel free to create it. Just make sure, that the "Fonts" folder contains the font files themselves and not just another "Fonts" folder with them. It should be "\WoW\Fonts\FRIZQT__.TTF" for example. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kotl 5 Report post Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) I have done as you said; made a Font folder in \WoW but I still see letters like üäö while I'm writting only when I press enter they apear normal cyrillic in chat. Also, when I put FRIZQT__.TTF into the "Fonts" folder .TTF disappears out of the name, I'm not sure is it supposed to be so. I looked on Google up and down and searched other Forums, but cant find that anyone had similiar problem like me. Sorry for bothering you. Еdit: Not in chat window but in chat bubble. Motorbreath 923 Report post Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) You must be missing the appropriate font. Are you sure that you put all the files from the archive to your "Fonts" folder? And yes - Windows has an option to hide filename extensions for the registered file types (files that it knows what program to open with - or at least thinks so). That's perfectly normal and enabled by default I think. Makes sure you won't accidentally change it making the program unable to open the file for example. If you ever want to disable that (if you know what you're doing and what for) it can be done in the directory options menu; a way to access my differ depending on the operation system version. Lemonz 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2017 sorry for necroing this thread, but i am trying this, i copied & replaced the fonts from your dropbox link. but still can write & see: äöü etc. and all cyrillic letters show up as ???? ??? ?? ? ? ingame when i try to write.
