Syn 2 Report post Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) Hey guys! I am just wanting to see people's opinions on what the 2 most appropriate Professions for a Mage would be? I am leaning towards choosing Enchanting and Tailoring as I know both of them go together quite well. The only consideration I am making is whether I should drop one of those for a gathering Profession? Finally, I will be starting a completely fresh LVL 1, most likely on the Fresh PvP realm. Any and all opinions, along with rationale behind the opinion, are welcome! Cheers, guys! Syn Edited November 11, 2016 by Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) You're right by saying Tailoring and Enchanting do go together very well. Both of them are standalone professions. Depends really on how much farming you'd like to do. Enchanting isn't easy to level up and you'll end up disenchanting a lot of items you find in your posession. If you did drop one and pick up a gathering profession you've got a pretty generous source of income on your hands if you're okay with farming for materials (and don't forget, it's a PvP server so if you don't like world PvP (like me) then that'd be a bit of a challenge). My personal preference is Tailoring and Enchanting. I find that both of them can provide enough income for me to keep me happy also I enjoy the convenience of being able to craft my own gear and enchant it for free. EDIT: imo any profession combination (within reason) is good, it just really depends on the question, do you care more about being self sufficient or making money? But that's just my two cents - I prefer self sufficiency lol Edited November 11, 2016 by Alumian
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 I can't remember much from my WoW days. In your opinion, Enchanting and Tailoring do provide enough opportunity to earn an income? Enchanting other people's gear for a fee. Selling bags and other cloth gear pieces. Am I missing anything? Thanks, mate! Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) No worries, I do believe it does present a decent opportunity, but only if you have the hard to get formulae and if you can have a couple of materials on you spare like a righteous orb then you can charge a small fortune. But one massive advantage of Tailoring/Enchanting is if at a later time you find you want to drop one of them, you can pick up any profession knowing that it won't affect Tailoring/Enchanting at all. EDIT: Nope I think you've pretty much got it nailed lol. Bags are always in demand and a service fee for enchanting is, in my experience, expected. Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Tailoring / Enchanting it is then! You and I should hook up once Elysium is launched. It's always a good idea to have a support network of mature and helpful mates to make the game that much more enjoyable! What do you think? What realm are you thinking of playing? I am thinking of a fresh one, whether it be a fresh PvE (if one is even announced) or PvP, I am not sure as of yet. If a fresh PvE realm does not get released, I will be playing on the Fresh PvP realm. Let me know, Alumian! Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Sounds like a plan I'll be playing on the fresh start realm - Suzerain announced that it will be a PvP realm. I'm gonna be a Human Warlock How about you? Do you have any characters from Nostalrius?
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) I will be playing a Human Mage I am brand new to this Nostalrius / Elysium Private Server thing. However, I think I will be adopting it quite seriously. I have spent the entire evening setting up my Addons so that once the Fresh PvP realm is available for play, I will have everything set up and can dive straight in! Are you a previous Nostalrius player? Are you a member of a Guild or looking to get in to one? I am wanting to get myself in to a serious Guild that has serious aspirations for downing Raid Content. It does not appear like there is a friends list function on this forum so I will send you a PM so we can have a permanent record to work off of once Elysium launches On a side note, below is my current Addon list, please feel free to recommend any you see I haven't currently got and you think I would benefit from having Atlas AtlasLoot BigWigs BigWigs_CommonAuras BigWigs_HealbotAssist BigWigs_RazuviousAssistant BigWigs_ThaddiusArrows Decursive CoolDown EquipCompare LunaUnitFrames Aux OneBag zBar Recap KLHThreatMeter Questie Cheers! Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Okay sweet PM me whenever I run: Atlas + AtlasLoot Auctioneer Bagnon Bigwigs Cooline Custom Nameplates Discord Action Bars DPSMate GLOCK KLH Threat Meter Luna Unit Frames Mik Scrolling Battle Text MobHealth MoveAnything OCB3 Prat Questie Stubby TheoryCraft TinyTip URLCopy Vanilla Consolidate Buff-Frames (VCB) It's a bit hard to find working addons for this patch version. I've been working on that list for about 2-3 days now, trialing different addons based on their description. I've discarded so many of them lol. In terms of recommendations, I would definitely recommend Auctioneer, Discord Action Bars and VCB. In terms of guilds, I'm actually going to start one as soon as the realm comes up. I've already got a couple of friends who will be joining and a website to go with it lol. I've been pretty bored these past few days xD I want the guild to become a progression raiding guild. That's pretty much all I play for - progression raiding lol. I want this guild to be what people think about when they're looking to improve their raiding experience. I've led guilds in the past and there really is nothing quite like it. You establish almost a community within the game and it really grows on you like nothing else EDIT: I do have a character, a level 60 mage coming across from Nostalrius, but I won't be playing him at all I don't think. My focus is entirely on this fresh start realm Edited November 12, 2016 by Alumian
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Oh wow, you are going to start your own guild, eh?! Where are you located? I am in Sydney and thus, UTC/GMT +11. I am available to play each week night from approximately 10pm. Does that suit your playing schedule at all? I would love to join your guild if it does! You just introduced me to DPSMate. Oh my god! Prior to our discussion, I was using Recap and I had been told that there wasn't a DPS Meter addon that displayed live information during an encounter. Thank you for letting me know about DPSMate!!! You should post your UI so I can see what you have been up to over the past few days I'll do the same once I've seen yours (and stolen all the other super useful addons from your UI) I am in the market for an awesome looking cast bar. Nothing too fancy, just a simple one. Let me know if you can think of any other addons you would recommend Cheers! Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 That's my UI with all the elements shown. As you can imagine - it looks a lot prettier when all the elements aren't lit up lol. Haven't really started thinking of raid times just yet, just looking to bolster the numbers first. I've just written up an ad for the guild: https://elysium-project.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=22954 but I haven't really put down a lot of detail about it just yet.
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) That's mine with all elements shown. It certainly is a work in progress! Maybe a bit cluttered on the right hand side So where are you based? Does my time availability coincide with when you will be playing WoW, as well? Cheers! Syn Edited November 12, 2016 by Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Oh my god how did you get test frames like that DX You said that you're free from 10pm? I'm based around Northern Sydney so that works for me. I'd usually start a raid earlier than that but it's still early days so we'll see what we can work out. My job is very low committment time-wise so I'll be on wow most of the day lol
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Nevermind lol turns out my version wasn't up to date xD I can see all the test frames now
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Wow, you are based in Sydney!? What unbelievable luck! Yeah, I would be able to sit down and really focus on a raid session once my wife has gone to bed each evening which, to be safe, is around 10pm sit down time. I have found it difficult to find a Raid Group that raids at a time 10pm and later but I really hope we can work something out What's the name of the Guild you will be starting up with the Fresh Server, anyway? Not sure what Test Frames are but I am very happy to hear that you got yours working to your satisfaction now, as well This picture was taken with a character on the Kronos Server, the Latency was about 400. I am very much hoping that we get better than 400 on the Elysium Servers. Do you know whether we will or not? Another important question I was hoping you could clarify was, now that I have set up my UI the way I like it (at least until I find other addons that I want), is it just simply logging on to the Elysium Server once it is available and my UI will look exactly how I left it on the Kronos Server or do I need to save each addons current configuration to a Profile for it to be saved and remain the same on a different Server? Hope you're enjoying your Sunday, Alumian! Cheers! Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Lol yeah, having a raid time of 10pm makes it a bit difficult. I know many raiders like to finish up around or before midnight so to get a decent nights raid in the raids may start at 7-8pm usually. Test frames are simply just dummy frames that appear so you can see what your UI looks like as if it were fully functional. Like on your screenshot you can see the test frames for your party and raid frames for example. I expect that we will get lower latency. I managed to pop on the Elysium realm before they got taken down for the merge and if I remember correctly my latency was ~200 and my internet is rubbish lol. To use the same UI setup for Elysium, all you'll need to do is: 1. Navigate to World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/[ACCOUNTNAME]/. In this folder you'll find a list of every realm you've logged on to. 2. Navigate to the folder corresponding to the realm of the character that you have the completed UI on. In this folder you'll find another set of folders for each character that you have on that realm. So for you, I think it's going to be something like World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/[ACCOUNTNAME]/Kronos/ and you'll find a folder in there called Synesthesic. I think I spelled your name right lol, a bit hard to tell from the screenshot xD 3. Copy that character folder into ../[ACCOUNTNAME]/Elysium PvP/ so that when you create your character on this realm with that same name (or rename the folder if your character will have a different name), the game will load your UI settings from that folder. You'll need to create the folder Elysium PvP and if that isn't what the realm is going to be called later on then you'll have to rename that folder (ensuring that it is exactly as the realm name is, including capital letters). Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 Thank you SO much for that step-by-step! That will save me a whole lot of time and would have been a very nasty surprise had I just gone in to the new server blind... Latency of 200 would be great as that is what I had when I previously played retail WoW. Yeah, I know it's going to be a struggle to find a serious and successful raiding guild that raids later on each evening. It sounds to me like yours won't be a late night raiding guild? Syn Latency of 200 would be great as that is what I had when I previously played retail WoW.
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 You're welcome I may make the raid time late night, not 100% sure yet. It's just a bit difficult to try and convince 38 people to stay up to the early hours of the morning you know? lol But it's still very early days so I'll just have to wait and see what everyone is willing to do. I'd love to have you as part of the guild though
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2016 I can completely understand that. I would love it if you chose to create a late night raiding guild and, obviously, would be there each and every night I'm so tempted to play on Kronos in the mean time but don't want to start to just abandon the character and do it all over again on Elysium I guess it's back to endlessly farming NM Mephisto for a set of Titan's Revenge Ceremonial Jav's to drop Can you think of any reason why it would be beneficial for me to start leveling on Kronos now? Syn
Alumian 5 Report post Posted November 13, 2016 Lol literally the only reason why I think it'd be beneficial to start leveling on a different server is to get used to the quests and to test your UI out. Other than that, I don't think there's much reason to.
Syn 2 Report post Posted November 13, 2016 Yeah, I am not going to play until we are all playing on the Elysium PvP server together. I want the first time I set proper foot on Vanilla Azeroth to be the time that each further step ahead means something! I can't wait, though!
