Will I get banned for changes made in MPG files?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'll keep this as short as possible as I dont even know if this is the right forum to ask in.

Anyways here goes...

There are files out there(,mpg)  that switches the old character models for the new ones, this is strictly client sight and wont affect the game in an way, other than I see the new models while everybody else sees the old ones.

But can this somehow be tracked by the anti-cheat system and will it be perceived as a banable offence?

Hope someone knows and thank you in advance.

Yes, modifying the .mpq files will result in a permanent ban.  There are too many other ways to abuse things by modifying .mpq

III. Permanent ban

The most serious sanction. This sanction is applied in case of multiple violations of the rules, or after multiple account interruptions, as well as any of the following:

  • COD Scamming;

  • Hacking;

  • Using any means of botting (e.g. a program);

  • Any client modification (libraries, executables, MPQ, etc.);

In a way it can. Say you would modify the model of the flag in WSG to always show the carrier his position across the map...

I guess it's understandable, but also very sad, was looking forward to playing vanilla with new models  :P
