This isnt true vanilla expirience.

Blizzard servers never had caps this high and anything over 5k people online per server is bad for number of reasons.

Even if you fix the lag or delay or whatever you call it you are not adressing the issue of overpopulation.

Having over 10k people online on one server is not something you should be proud of. Its a problem. 

Having over 10k people on multiple servers IS something you should be proud of and you can call it a successful project

Oh good, we have a genius in the house.

I recall 10k players running smooth on original Nostalrius... It's also because of the DDoS attacks, and all the fresh realm scrubs taking up space instead of waiting for their server :) more servers will come in time... I'm sorry your day one experience of a free server wasn't top quality.

My god we still have people that cling to this "its a free server, so be happy its even here" idea. Give it a rest, it's a product that some of the Nost team is now with Elysium. Not to mention it just having Nostalrius's name tied to the server gives it even bigger expectations. All products whether for volunteer or profit are under the same ridicule and feedback.

 

Yes Nost ran fine with 10k players, I was there for Nostalrius like most of us probably were. But for THIS exact moment in time, Elysium's back end is very poor and can't handle the load. Which gives heavy input delay, and high latency. I'm grateful that the servers are still in France for a 110-130ms experience from US East Coast.

 

But for the time being I believe a TEMPORARY cap would do more good than harm. Put a temp cap to 7-8k players where the server is fine just before lag starts to occur, then people can be happy and enjoy the game. Yes a lot of people won't get it to play etc. But it's a relaunch of NOSTALRIUS servers, it's not the fresh start like you stated so a lot of new people are currently on the realm. I can attest to that since 4 of my friends quit retail to come to Elyisum.

 

So the problem isn't the 10k players, the problem is their back end ALONG with the "so called" DDoS attacks that they haven't stated publicly on Twitter or an announcement on the main website. So to fix this temporary issue, a TEMP cap would fix the problem, while they can put up stronger back end, and maybe better DDoS protection.

 

Other than that the launch has gone fine, if it wasn't for the server issues this would be a clean relaunch. Since when the game isn't lagging it plays smoothly and feels good.

 

Criticism/Feedback on the server should be welcomed. This is after all a Suggestion forum. So no passive aggressive flame baiting Denny, it isn't needed here.

What Nost PVP server really needs is new server with char migration to cut down the population along with player cap.

That would fix the issue with lag and overpopulation.

Dear community, we are working to address the lag and login servers. However, please be aware, we are undergoing 6 concurrent DDoS attacks.

The overpopulation is from the fresh server not being released yet. Most of the new players in all starting areas wouldn't be there if the fresh start released. Probably about half the people or 3/4 the people making new characters are newbies that are waiting to play on the fresh start release.

What about when the new server reaches high numbers too? What do you do, leave it with no cap? No cap servers are problem. Delay is just one of the issues that you get from it.

cap the servers so that people can enjoy the game.

waiting in que is fine. watching people breakdancing around you

in this laggy shitshow isnt. add 3 times more people than it should be 

per zone makes it even worse.

 

PLAYER CAP IS PROBLEM FIX

I waited in the 45min queue for the PVE server, logged on and it ran wonderfully. Just do the same for the PvP server. It's literally unplayable, I don't get why they just cant do this. If you don't want to sit in the queue, then don't no one cares

What I don't understand is why elysium caps the pve server to 5.5k (i'm in a 2k queue) but leaves the pvp one without a cap... more than 10k and i can connect without queue...
