How long is the expected wait for the email?

My old account was used under a hotmail email so the wait beings, it says to retry if I havent got it in an hour but on the forum post by 'Suzerain' he says to "please do not attempt to resend verification emails, as it won't do you any good, and will in-fact cause you more grief."

 

Do I resend or Dont I resend is the question?
