I get disconnected from the game immediately after logging in and getting past the load screen.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! So when I log into the game I get to character select no problem! I can even create a new character and when I load into that character I get to the usual loading screen. The loading screen then completes and I log into the game, I see the world around me, player models begin to load in and then bam, I get disconnected every time after a couple of seconds. I tried deleting my WTF and WDB folders and this has allowed my one second login time increase to about five seconds. Is there anything else I can do? I was able to log in successfully during the day one launch of Elysium but after that I've had this issue.

For games that freeze or black screen or can't see game window ( anything related to Direct X ) you can try this to fix it !

I had a issue where my game would just freeze and or crash sometimes even leading to a blue screen.

I simply went into World of Warcraft\WTF\config.wtf  and modified the SET gxResolution to 1920x1080 so it would look like this

SET gxResolution "1920x1080" I also added this code line     SET gxApi "d3d11"        to make sure the game used direct x 11

Make sure to add the right resolution for your specific monitor ! Mine was 1920x1080 , but your could be different !

My laptop is a xps 15 l502x in case you wanted to compare maybe.

You can always try to run it with Direct x 9 as well,

File location bellow
World of Warcraft\WTF\config.wtf

code line to add in config.wtf text file bellow

SET gxApi "d3d11"

SET gxApi "d3d9"

Keep in mind that you only pick on of the code lines (d3d11 = Direct X 11)   &   (d3d9 = Direct X 9).

Not sure your having issues with Direct X or not , but always worth a shot .

If its a problem with the internet connection you can always try and flush your dns .

or even try and change your ip address

I don't think it's an issue with my IP Address but I will try flushing my DnS and it's not a Direct X Issue, the game loads and shows things fine and graphical errors wouldn't cause insta disconnect.

Flushing DNS did nothing beyond extend my up time from 5 seconds to 10 seconds, I'm going to try and grab a fresh 'install' of Warcraft and see if that fixes anything magically.

I only got disconnected, no freezing or crashing just a DC back to the login screen. I just tried deleting all of the WoW files and getting a fresh set to see if that would fix anything but as you'd imagine it didn't. I still cannot get into the game for like more then 3 seconds.

Alright I found a fix, I just tested it out. So I put WoW in windows compatibility mode for windows XP, I turned this off now it works perfectly. Awesome :D.

Just in case someone else runs into this issue, I found the opposite solution from Gamex7 worked. I had WoW launching in compatibility mode, and turning that off in properties fixed the problem... Go figure.
