Need some help regarding macros.

Hello fellow forum-dwellers.

So I've stumbled upon a problem and require assistance. 
I'm trying to squeeze the most out of the visual experience in the game and there's pretty much only one thing to do.

The good old fashioned macro that follows something like this:

/console groundEffectDensity 256
/console groundEffectDist 140
/console detailDoodadAlpha 100
/console horizonfarclip 2112
/console farclip 777
/console characterAmbient 0
/console smallcull 0
/console skycloudlod 3

However, much to my chagrin it doesn't seem to change anything whatsoever.
Neither did trying to edit the config in the WTF folder. It merely switched everything back to normal.

I haven't found any rules prohibiting the use of such a macro nor changing the config file. And my Config isn't set to 'Read Only'.
So what am I doing wrong?
