Guide - Backing up / Restoring lost 2FA app

Recommended Posts

This guide explains how to add 2FA onto multiple devices as a backup or add your Elysium account back to your authenticaor app if you lost it somehow.

FIRST YOU NEED YOUR SPECIAL CODE
(THIS IS NOT THE 6 DIGIT CODE SHOWN BY YOUR APP)

When you first enable 2FA (Two Factor authentication) from your Elysium Account Control Panel, you will receive an email, see below.

If you deleted your 2FA email then I cannot help you.. :(

You'll notice in this email, you get a code as well as your bar-code, This is your 'Authentication special code'.
This required in the future should you wish to add authentication to other apps or in the event you lose your phone and wish to add it back to your original authenticator app.
All authenticator apps work the same, they use a special code and combine that with the time to create another code that only you and the account server your logging into know. The special code does not change unless you remove 2FA from your account but the 6 digit code changes every minute.

TO BACKUP THIS CODE:
Simple keep your email or store this code somewhere.

TO SETUP 2FA APPS USING THE SAME CODE

To do this with Google Authenticator for example.

At the bottom of the app, hit 'Manual Entry'

No you simply name your account whatever you want to call it, i.e. "ELYSIUM 2FA" and as the key you enter the special code you received via email, now save this and you will have your 6 digit code in your google app once more.

You can now do this same thing for other apps, lets take the '2 Factor Authenticator' App available from the win10 app store for example.2.jpg
Once installed you add your Account much like the google app.. Name it whatever you want, but use the special code as the 'Secret Key'

Its rather simple, hope this helps somebody out!
