Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 So I guess my question is, does this effect my normal retail copy of WoW already installed on my PC? Or does this install as a separate file?
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 (edited) They are separate, keep them separate. When you go to install it, don't put it in program files. After you install it, right click on wow.exe and set it to run as administrator. When you go to play it, launch it from the wow.exe, not a launcher file if you have one. It has no effect on retail files. Edited January 16, 2017 by Ellipsea because I can
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Where would you recommend installing it to? I usually install to default Programs. Sorry first time doing something like this.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 put it on the desktop. That's what I do on my windows machines with anything important to me, but I have a Mac mind : P
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Ok. Thanks. That's what I figured. :D
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 right on. : )
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Ok. So I have it installed to desktop. Renamed the file that had to be renamed. Launched the game using Run As Administrator. I skipped the cinematic to login screen. First thing I notice is that it shows the Blizz maintenance scheduled. I ignore thinking maybe it's just how it is. Try to log in using my login info and get a message saying disconnected. Did I do something wrong?
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Ya, ignore the Blizz stuff, almost all private servers still point to that. You did create a game account, right? DC isn't unusual. keep trying.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 create game account: https://elysium-project.org/play
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Yea I've done that and verified the account as usual. But I keep getting the message "Disconnected from Server"
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 (edited) did you edit the realmlist.wtf correctly, saying exactly this: set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org Also, through away the WTF folder in case theres anything funky in there, might as well throw away WDB too. Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 I forgot to mention. I also get the pop up "Hardware changed. Reload default settings? Yes or No"
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Ah I can't remember what that does on windows. I believe it will change your video settings, which you can change back again ingame, or by messing with config.wtf.
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Ok. Well I still get the disconnected message either way. Tried both methods of using username and email.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Realmlist.wtf is correct, right? Make sure when you edit it, it's saving. You need to be able to connect through the following TCP ports : 3724, 8000-8100. These ports are sometimes disabled when using public Wifi or professional networks. Turn off antivirus. Can try moving your IP by using Cyberghost VPN, if it's a world routing issue. It's free and handy to have anyways.
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 the name change is correct: set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org I have no experience in Ports unfortunately. I could try Cyberghost VPN.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 try changing the realmlist to IP address first, that might do it. set realmlist 164.132.233.125
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 so rename to that?
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 yeah can always switch it back. no harm no foul.
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 yea I get the same message. I don't think it's meant to be :(
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 ha, set it back to normal realmlist. If you created your game account, and are using proper credentials, realmlist is set correctly, there is no WTF folder, antivirus off, you're operating as administrator, you already fished around in yer shorts, then I suggest trying to sign on like thirty times straight. keep at it, PERSISTENCE IS KEY. try moving your IP address with Cyberghost VPN, like I was saying it's good to have that anyways (great for hardcore, barnyard porn marathons). Report back soldier. go get em.
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Haha. Yea I'll keep attempting to log in. I'll let ya know if I was able to log in or not shortly.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 You know there was something else too, that was an issue, probably still is. That was if your password was too long, like over 15 characters, you could never sign on.
Reaper666 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 its not over 15 characters. Pretty simple with 1 capital letter with numbers. Supposedly I'm not the only one with this issue as per Discord
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 yeah you know sometimes when serverload is heavy, it sends ya to DC.
