Seems like people are getting their accounts compromised at an completely insane rate atm. A couple of days ago there was  word out that you had your database compromised/leaked as well. It even seems that people with the 2F authenticator are starting to loose their stuff (unconfirmed) 

All you do is address it with an ingame spam, to change our passwords often (wonder why you don't advertise the 2F since a lot of ppl never visit the forums or website)

WE are the ones paying for your bold statements in your "fighting the good fight" announcement. It sure seems like you pissed off the wrong people this time. While you think about how to contain this, please understand that players who had their accounts hacked and lost everything (especially end game players) are more likely to attempt to purchase gold in order to restore their characters.  By all means ban them if they do, that is not the point. The point is that it is an exponential problem. IE: Guy gets hacked and loose everything, buy gold to purchase some stuff back, another guy get hacked to provide said gold....see Where I am going with this?

If you really trust the 2F authenticator system, then why not make it mandatory to use?  Disable all accounts that does not have it by the end of the week (or any other date at your discretion)

Why does YOUR watchdog not pick up when accounts are logged in from another country and "softban/prompt for pw change, them automatically? But when a guy travels to another country on vacation and log in from there he have to post in ban appeal section to get his account back.

That being said YES account security IS our own responsibility!  But somewhere along the lines even an unique account name and  strong password gets brute forced, from a different county and no warning lights go off in Elysium HQ? And don' give us bull that it was "the other projects that leaked/sold" Many of the hacked players here have never played there.

Looking forward to a reply, preferably one with a bit more meat on the bone than the usual one given here by Elysium staff.

Sucks to be you. 99% of the other players don't though, which means that you are doing account security wrong.

If they had half a brain, they could make hundreds of gold within a week at level 60 (no need to buy gold) by just spending a couple of hours every 2 days, but I guess intelligence isn't their strong point seeing as how they fail at account security.

That would be very stupid to do as it screws people who travel due to work, but I don't expect you to get that since you are not very smart.

That's funny. I travelled to South Africa recently (richard's Bay to be exact). To get there, I changed three planes in three different European and Middle Eastern airports, and I played WoW to pass the time. Funny, I didn't get banned for it.

Something tells me that you "travel" for "vacations" to China, and no they should NOT restore accounts to such as you.

That being said YES account security IS our own responsibility!

The leaked database belonged to another private server and only affected Elysium users if they used the same credentials on both servers. However, one of my guildmates has never been on a private server before, and he was hacked. He said his password was a random string of characters and numbers. So we have no clue how that one happened. Another guildmate was also compromised, but she can't swear she didn't re-use credentials from another private server.

I've not heard of anyone with 2FA being compromised. A recent post by the Elysium devs said that only 1% of Elysium accounts are using 2FA, so it's a good bet that any compromised account isn't using it.

Nope, there is talk about Elysium being leaked, the other just sold thier databases.  2F have been up for a 1½ week and probably less than 1% uses the website, forums or follow them on twitter. The ingame spam would be a great place to advertise it.

Good for you, how does that help the ppl who A. Never heard about 2F because they don't follow the site news, twitter or forums? B. Those who got hacked b4 2f was an option?  C. ppl that claim the where hacked even while using 2f? 

Put on your thinking cap and re-read my post, it's not a QQ that >I<  got hacked. It's about how we, as a community get more people to use 2F (if it indeed is secure) and how we remove those pesky goldsellers and hackers. Which will take a combined effort, and frankly a bit more constructive comments and thinking, than "2F is there to be used" 

But feel free to continue posting replies that have exactly 0% value to anyone, except your own ego and polishing your 20-20 hindsight, that they can be properly ignored.

Traveled to Europe for vacation. Logged in from there. When I got back account was banned. Haven't used the password-username combo before. Haven't bought gold. People will tell me I have, but the truth is I haven't, and because this has happened to me I believe the other people with the exact same circumstances. Posted a ban appeal on January 10 and have yet to receive a response even after reaching out to three different GMs multiple times.
